Waraku

Dinner wif dar dar was at Cuppage's Waraku!! Yes, my tuna minced rice craving is working on me again. I had my tuna minced rice ($9.80) of coz...

Dar had a banbanji ($12.80)...

It is cold noodle (choice of soba or udon) and chicken and cucumber tomato with sesame-base soup. When we first saw it on the menu, it reminded us of the cha soba salad from Ma Maison (which is super good stuff, MUST TRY). Dar opted for the soba. The taste was not bad. The sauce tasted like Mayo and dar liked it alot. Personally, i found it not bad as well but i kinda preferred Ma Maison's cha soba salad. The taste for Ma Maison's cha soba salad is stronger and its got more ingredients. In terms of presentation, Ma Maison's one is also nicer.

We wanted a soup. Thought of ordering the paper steamboat but also felt like trying the udon coz i remember Sonia telling me during one of our previous visits that their udon is really Q. So anyways, in the end we ordered the kaki miso ($9.80)...

Its oyster and vegetable with miso-base soup noodle. The soup base tasted alot like some strong ginseng-ish herb. It was quite alright. The udon was indeed quite Q.

In addition, we also shared 2 sides. One is the pure ebi guratan ($8.80)..

i ordered this because i vaguely recall liquidshadow recommending this.. well, not sure if its recommending but most probably blogged about it. The taste was alright though i didnt find it particularly remarkable. It was some cream, mushrooms and prawns below a layer of cheese. Probably only 2 - 3 miserable prawns inside. Rest was all cream. But the prawns were rather fresh.

Dar ordered the hotate butter ($6.80)...

This item was particularly good. It was w/o sauce but the scallop was nicely marinated. Scallops were fresh, a great choice. Plus, its cheap! Only $6.80 and there was about 8 reasonably sized scallops . Much more worth it den the ebi guratan i would say.

Dar had wanted to try the sea urchin so we shared a sushi ($8)...

today's one was abit bitter. haha.. dar dar didnt quite like the taste!

For drinks, i had a Ramune ($2.80)...

Its actually japanese sprite. and its the kinda bottle where u gotta push the glass ball down. Taste was not bad.

Dar paid with her UOB ladies card and got a 10% discount.

Wow, the tuna thingy is really that good huh? U're always ordering it when you eat at Waraku. Yeah, the prawn cheese thing has very little prawns, but the prawns are quite nice.

I haven't had a chance to go back to eat yet. Probably will when I'm back in SG. Still haven't tried their chawanmushi.

haha.. dun set such high standards on the tuna thingy.. maybe its just subjective and i like it personally.

bad news though.. they still have chawanmushi but no longer have the one with the sea urchin anymore.
