Bunny customised a cake for my birthday from Susucre

and erm, i wish I'm still 30 too but I'm in fact 35! usually people just put one candle but Curious Palette placed all 3 candles that the baker provided in the packet. haha.. ok la chin chye. 

the cake was VERY PRETTY! in a beautiful white which i like!

the cake was a chocolate with peanut butter. it was so good. the cake texture was moist and there was a generous amount of yummy peanut butter! Pretty on the outside, yummy on the inside!

we actually also ordered the rainbow cake from them last year for Joanne's birthday as ell. Last year's cake was amazing! But this year, the cupcakes were a big disappointment.

Firstly, the rainbow as now nicely tiered.. it is a total mess of colors. Also, the texture was sooooo dry. Huge disappointment.

cake is orderd from Ecreative, courtesy of the loving sister, Xinying. Xinying was giving good reviews of Ecreative, on how they managed to take in her orders on very last minute basis. apparently she only ordered 2 days in advance and its really cheap, only $120 for a 2kg cake like this. and honestly, it tastes decent as well. Not saying its damn good but ok, at least not those outside look nice but inside taste lousy kind....



and of coz, the design was a great choice that goes very well with tonight's party!

when we decided on this birthday celebration, i thought its a great opportunity to order that rainbow cake i've been dying to try. and since no one has ever been kind enough to surprise me with a WOW customised cake, i end up being the one to order them to WOW people while i get to savour them too (muahahaha).

so i researched online to look for rainbow cake makers. there is one particularly popular one.. but seems so popular that doesnt seem to have slots and doesnt do delivery and i read some not so positive reviews so i googled further and found this:

She is one very warm lady. Ordering from her was a breeze. She made everything very easy and comfortable.



as we opened the box, all the girls wowed at the colourful sprinklers and everyone was excited to be able to dig into the cake later....



while waiting, everyone helped to place the candles on the cake.... we decided to put XX small candles instead of using the big ones...

everyone began excitedly taking pics of the photos but reminding each other NOT to check in or tag on fb yet! hahaha....



and when joanne said she was here, ah mah pig went to bring her in...




so pretty!!











they took awhile and we were all excited (and worried) because the little candles were melting melting!! we even joked about having to tell joanne " there used to be candles there " hahahhaa

and you know how usually everyone will siam the cake, not this one! everyone wanted a piece of it! The cake is awesome! the bottom part is a layer of crispy chocolate, some nuts. YUMMY! the outer white layer is a layer of pudding like thingy. not too sweet, also very yummy. the colourful layers were a little like butter cake. overall it was really good! we loved it!

i sourced around a bit. most of the customised cakes these days are very very costly and the worst thing is, there is no assurance that the cakes actually taste as good as it looks. its quite a sad case to have guest rave over pretty cakes but the cake actually dont taste good.

the other day at Quinton's birthday party, May introduced me to Jincakes.

after trying Quinton's birthday cake, at least i think its fairly decent in taste and i appreciate her reasonable pricing. I think she gave the most reasonable pricing amongst the different quotations i got. She is also very friendly and did delivery over to Orchard Central for me. Thank you Jiaxin!



















the oreo cupcakes were nicer than the vanilla one. but overall it was decent.

not sure if u agree with me, there loads of online confectionery doing fondant cakes with loads of amazing pretty designs that gets us all spoilt for choice. not forgetting these are all really expensive hence its usually hard to say try first before you book one for the big occassion. very often than not, the pretty ones don't taste that good, the good ones, dont look that pretty. haha..

However, Jin Cakes seems to be one of the MOST reasonably priced ones around. They even include delivery. after May told me about her pricing, i immediately contacted her for a upcoming celebration.

taste wise, its ok, i won't say its super fantastic but at least decent.

'haus of JOCKolate

Meina specially arranged for a surprise today for aloysious' big 3 birthday on the yacht! took her a lot of planning for it to be a surprise coz he is always with her.


i got him the cake from an online store called haus of Jockolate. i'd say the baker was really quite a creative designer to have been able to do up this yacht. he did however arrive a little late for the delivery and almost spoilt the surprise and he also forgot the knife and candle but else the cake was great. it was yummy.. its a chocolate cake with a layer of hazelnut crisp. the rest all said the cake was nice and the design was really creative...
