shawn is right, their fish soup is good. much better than the west coast one even though its without xo. the soup is really flavoursome...

Bao Gong XO Fish Soup

this morning, i asked sister if she would satisfy my year long craving of the bao gong xo fish bee hoon and she agreed! yay!


and here's the bao gong...






sister said that bao gong taste nicer than the one located opposite west coast plaza so i've been craving for it for about a year!

looked so good when it first arrived. feel like stuffing it in my mouth! taste was not bad but the rest found it a little salty but i found it ok.

Blanco Court Fish Soup

Leoie told us that the fish soup @ Clifford Pier's Banquet food court is really good after we told him about our craze over the Arcade's fish soup so he brought us there for lunch.

turns out the fish soup is the previous Blanco Court fish soup..

those of us who have tried the arcade fish soup all agreed in unison that the arcade one is much better.

Squiddy who came all the way down after hearing our raves about the arcade's fish soup yet didnt get to try was also disappointed. haha

i feel so dissatisfied.. i am so looking forward to arcade's fish soup... like i said, its addictive! haha.. and we all 'blamed' leoie for a unsatisfying lunch. LOL

BUT, i must add, this fish soup is not not nice.. its just dat we much prefer arcade's.

After hearing fishy and me rave about the fish soup, Clammy also buay tahan.. hehe.. she just had to try it too!

its really good! the soup is very tasty and the fried fish especially, its thick and nicely marinated....



plus, its very addictive!

Hup Lee Cafe (The Arcade) Fish Soup

for lunch, fishy brought me to this fish soup stall @ The Arcade level 1. She was telling us how popular this place is and how good their fish soup is.. its located at #01-135.

i went for the mixed fish soup....



it was really really very good. the soup was tasty, the fried fish was thick... the batter was thin. its really really good.

Grabbed a quick lunch @ Fortune Centre..

and vegetable rice...



the fish soup is pretty good in terms of taste. the mock fish was ok.. i still prefer the one from Yogi Hub @ Madras Street. But this one is better than the one from Angel's Heart at Boon Tat Street. The soup comes with the option of with or without milk.

The vegetable rice was pretty good as well with all the mock meat and vegetables. I returned after my work to buy it back for mummy as her dinner.

i had the mixed fish soup...



the soup was alright, the fried fish is nicer den the fresh fish slice. the fried fish is in big portion and what i particularly like is they have fried yam pieces as well. Not bad.

Lucky Cafe

lunch with sayang today and i also asked ah mah pig along. sayang brought us to this kopitiam along circular road (i think).

tastes ok only.

was asking sayang to recommend a dish and she mentioned marmite chicken.. immediately, i chose it! when ah mah pig arrived and saw my dish, she wanted it immediately too...



overall its pretty good. its fried chicken den stir fried.. but the marmite sauce taste was not strong.. in fact its very sweet so i didnt really like it coz i expected it to be a strong marmite sauce taste. But i think ah mah pig liked it.

sayang had small chilli chicken...



which is very nice! i personally prefer this over the marmite chicken coz the chicken is not deep fried! and the sauce is really nice... chicken is tender..yummy!

Kim Kee Blanco Court Fish Soup

imran wanted to do dinner at Aglio Olio but i was craving for that famous fish soup at China Square so he accommodated me and we went for that instead...



the famous Blanco Court fish soup. its pretty good. But i recall it tasting better the previous time i was here.

Hong Kong Street Family Restaurant

Dinner with Ivan. He brought me to Hong Kong Street Family Restaurant (located near upper Thomson Road)....

the soup was not bad. would haf been better if they added more alcohol.

so crispy, so juicy, so flavoursome! i like!

the fried sambal... hmm.. kang kong or tapioca leaves i think....



was so good! not too spicy but tasty!

Ng Soon Kee Fish & Duck Porridge

Lunch i was craving for something soupy so Tasha and i headed to the market opposite my place and i had the famous fish porridge....



because it's so near my place, we have it really regularly that i've never realised how famous and popular this stall is.

the soup is sweet and tasty, the fish is always so fresh.

this stall is also famous for their duck.....



my best friend Jo and her family loves their duck wings and apparently many of my friends also know about this stall.

Nam Hwa Chiang Fish Head Steamboat

Dar dar and Andy zai to come pick me up for dinner at Nam Hwa Chiang Fish Head Steamboat....



this place is located very near Aljunied MRT station. In fact, its right outside the station. I've heard many different friends telling me about it since its so near my place but i've never tried it myself.

We were first served the sauces...



Aside from the normal red chilli and soya sauce, they also have this vinegar sauce with chopped garlic that so very very nice. I like it very much. Its sour and adds alot of taste even to white rice.

And check out the number of steamboats...



Meaning business today was really good. We wait 1 whole hour for our food to arrive!!

first to arrive was the pig intestine..



dar said for a small plate like this, it costs around $6! Expensive! But this was really good. It was tasty and it was clean.

Next was the tasteless preserved vegetables...



initially, i thot it might haf tasted tasteless coz i just had milk tea but even dar dar and andy zai tried it and agreed its tasteless. Not saltish at all.

finally, after along wait the star of today arrived...



The ang go li fish head steamboat...



my bowl of it...



i found the soup not bad but not good enuff to make me wait an hour. Probably if the wait was shorter. But overall it was ok. Considering i've not had any fish head steamboat before, there was no basis of comparison. Understand from Andy zai that they haf other fish promphet and song fish head. I think if i go back the next time i'll try the other fish.

The whole meal came up to about $38.

Oh.. but if u dine here, be prepared ur tops might kena all the charcoal dust and the place can get pretty warm. With the steamboat, its practically sweating it all out.

Its healthier as compared to the canteen one. The fish is fresher and thicker as well.
