The Cheesecake Factory (Dubai)

Dubai is such a wonderful place! its very different from our initial perception.

Importantly, the shops are open till so late! Cheesecake factory opens till midnight and service is impeccable!

Went over for supper!

Loaded baked potato tots

this is pretty good! the inside is with bacon and cheese!

Mac and cheese balls.....

this is so good! the cheese and macaroni is all loaded inside the deep fried ball...

we probably went a bit too far on the cheese tonight, went for a 4 cheese pasta....

for starters, i don't like penne. the 4 cheese was still not cheesy enough. In that the cheese taste isn't the strong tasting kind of cheese, felt more like the cheddar kind.

for dessert, tonight we chose the amores and it is sooooo good! the marshmallow was truly melted and the cake is moose like cheesecake....

awesome!

Coffee Stars by Dao

after samantha thavasa, we left to go Coffee Stars by Dao coz i told Xin i wanted to let her try a pandan roll thats very nice. i secretly also got the person to prepare candles for Xin and it was a surprise for her too!

i love the cakes and drinks at Coffee Stars by Dao...

the thai black tea is like teh orr peng but nicer.

the pandan coconut roll is really fragrant with this nice jello like paste with real coconut bits inside.

the new year cheese cake was also very yummy in my view. i like the texture of the cheese cake and the biscuit bottom. i also like the cherries coz they didnt have that canned cherries taste.

meixin went for the lemon grass drink at my recommendation and she loved it too. its slightly frizzy but nice!

Food For Thought

today, i arranged to meet up with lydia to celebrate my birthday! she said " can u bring me to food for thought? the pictures of the food you take of that place always looks so nice " haha.. so we arranged to head here!

food wise, sadly the pancakes are only avail till 5.30pm so lydia missed the chance of trying what was in my opinon, the nicest item on their menu.

so she had a garlic prawn pasta...

which was decent but not as wow as the previous times i had it.

i had a hoi sum sauce ribs...

the ribs were ok. not as good as i remembered it. but the potato gratin on the side was yummy!

for desserts, all the desserts on the menu were out (sad) so we settled for cakes.

lydia had a rasphberry cheese cake...

it was pretty awesome. i liked the based and the cheese layer. the texture was good.

i had the red velvet cake...

which was really disappointing. its pretty tasteless if not for the sauce and its just not nice. jones the grocer still serves the best red velvet cake i've tried.

Say Cheeze Cake

had lunch at Say Cheeze Cake (Great World City, level 1)...

they've got really comfy plush sofas...

food wise, i found myself very torn between ordering the laksa chowder and the lobster bisque. I've always loved lobster bisque and not much of a laksa person. But from the menu, i saw that their laksa chowder is served in a coconut! Looks sooooo interesting! Yet i was worried its gimmicky and like i said, im not really a laksa person..

i end up still going for the laksa chowder ($8.90)....

LOOKS GOOD RIGHT?

a closer up view...

the soup wif the coconut pulp...

its really quite good! the line of seafood on top is fresh and nicely barbequed. yummy!

the soup has a light laksa fragrance ... and it gets even better towards the end when i scooped the pulp of the coconut and the juice adds to the soup.. its really yummy!

for mains, i ordered a Baked Salmon Risotto ($14.90)...

a closer up view...

its really good as well! But it doesnt taste like risotto. its more like baked rice. But not complaining because the salmon is so darn good!

LOOK!

the salmon is nicely done, not overcooked... u can still see the colour of the fresh salmon! its really good!

the rice isnt fantastic but is considered decent.

and from the name, you most probably already know cheesecake is their speciality. I was also wondering if i should get their 'limited edition' pulau hitam cheesecake or apple crumble cheesecake or baileys cheesecake... they've got quite a variety!

i ordered the baileys cheesecake...

its not too bad but didnt find it fantastic. i'm more impressed by the soup and my salmon rice.

NYDC

Deanie came to meet up with us after our movie and we went to fulfill Kendi's coffee session desire. She said she's been dying to go for coffee session for weeks but never got a chance to fulfill it. Coffee Club was really crowded so we headed to NYDC instead.

and as expected, we didnt just have drinks.

Jiamiao chose the nutty noghat brownie....

under my recommendation! it was YUM! the rest all liked it as well. Warm brownie wif nuts topped wif ice cream. what's not to like about it?

i chose the granny goes nuts mud pie...

its got yummy nuts and marshmallows inside...

yummy! but quite expensive.

kendi ordered the priscilla's favourite (priscilla's not a friend btw.. its the name of the dish)...

its cheesecake wif chocolate ice cream and chocolate fudge. I didnt find it particularly nice. Just a normal cheese cake in my view but Kendi liked it. Maybe coz i was too full to try a second mouth. haha

loh gong zai being someone who doesnt particularly have a sweet tooth, went for the mushroom madness pizza...

while their crust may not be particularly thin, its one of the nicer pizzas around. I love their generous portion of mushrooms. its good!

kendi had a hazelnut coffee....

which was pretty ok.

i had an iced earl grey...

its quite diluted and just doesnt taste particularly good. and portion is so big... probably to match the very expensive price. I prefer coffee club's iced earl vanilla.

deanied had the lemon shiver upon my high recommendation...

it is good la!

Bakerzinn

I was still feeling full from my late late lunch so it seems like i was slapping myself with my own words (last sat's bakerzin entry) about ordering drinks.. but den again.. hehe.. it was Jeffrey's treat!

I had the iced lychee tea which costs $6.80!

taste was not bad with only 2 pieces of lychee.

I had wanted to order strawberry shortcake but they had ran out of it so i had the strawberry cheesecake...

Also one of my favourites from Bakerzin. Shared this with Jeffrey! Thank cute Jeffrey for the treat!

Western - Secret Recipe

Headed over to Secret Recipe @ Plaza Singapura for cakes

We ordered two cakes to share....

The White Chocolate Macademia Nut....

The girls liked it!

And the marble cheese cake...

I've always felt that the marble cheesecake of Secret Recipe is pretty good but the girls didn't seem impressed. In fact, they had in unison told me that Coffeebean's cheesecake is really good especially the base. They make me feel like an alien for having not tried it before.

Cafe - Bakerzin

Ping jie jie treated me for desserts.

Drinks wise, ping jie jie had iced lychee mint...

as good as always.

I had the iced chocolate....

The iced chocolate was not cold enough. They probably added ice to hot chocolate. Didn't find it fantastic.

I had a new york cheese cake.....

actually also wanted a strawberry shortcake but they ran out of that.

We also had their new item, dessert tapas...

There were around 11 varieties to choose from if i recall correctly. We chose 5.

They were namely....

Chocolate and caramel ice cream with hazelnut rice crispies. The caramel ice cream was really yummy! The hazelnut rice crispies blended really well with the ice cream. Its crispy and somewhat saltish, the combination with the ice cream went really good.

The lychee espuma had real lychee on top and the below is a foamy layer. The foamy layer was quite interesting, taste was not very strong but tastes not bad.

The kirsch jelly with strawberry was pretty nice as well. Comes with an alcoholic taste.

The other two items were.....

caramel panna cotta. Didn't quite taste the caramel. The top layer is a coffee tasting syrup which some people may like but i didnt quite like it. The panna cotta layer was pretty good though! We both liked it.

the cream camomile at first taste was somewhat well not quite what we expected. (Lea who didn't like the Coffee Club's iced earl vanilla will probably not like this) But after a few tries, the taste got better. Its a very strong tea taste.
