Guan Hin....
their traditional chinese signboard....
the interior of the restaurant....
its actually a very small restaurant. Initially when we just got there (around 6.30 pm), the place had probably about 2 - 3 other tables. By around 15 mins later, the whole place was packed!
Their menu...
i was there for their fermented crabs (very curious to koe how it tastes) but they were not available today!
Their sauces....
titbits served....
We ordered prawn balls aka hay chor....
a close up view...
costs $1 per ball. U can decide how many balls u wana order. Felt that its not cheap. Taste wise, ah yee and uncle sq both thought its very nice. I felt that it was not bad but i guess my mum used to make even better ones so my standard was somewhat rised because of that.
the braised goose ($13)...
this was really quite good. It was braised really well.
Next was the oyster omelette ($13)...
when i broke open the omelette into half to take a picture, uncle sq commented that from what he sees, the egg was fried very well. Takes alot of skiils to fry it like this...
the oyster omelette was ok but i dun reckon we'll order it again. We dun find it value for the price and it wasnt good enough to make us wanting more.
The lady boss recommended us to try one of their home made beancurd dish.....
yes, it looks like some chilli crab sauce eh?
This dish is so good! At least in my view it is! Both ah yee and uncle sq liked it as well because we all found it really special. The texture of the tauhu is very different and its got other ingredients mashed with it. The sauce went very well with it. Very tasty in my view.
last but not least, yam paste!
we ordered 2 small bowls coz ah yee didnt want a bow by herself. its $2 per bowl. The orr nee came with lotsa ginko nuts. Overall taste was not bad. was kinda disappointed it didnt come with pumpkin coz they ran out of it.
