Indian - Gokul Vegetarian

Elyn has been raving about this Indian restaurant located at little india. She brought us there today. Its called Gokul....

Its a vegetarian restaurant so any meat is actually mock meat.

The server was a very indian lady.

For drinks we ordered....

lime juice, mango lassi and salty lassi. Lassi is something like yoghurt. I was wondering if i should try the sweet or salty lassi. The lady said the salty one has a very indianish taste and would be quite a challenge. Seeing dat its only $2, i decided to take up the challenge! haha.. the taste was not very accepted by the rest of the girls. It was ok to me.. was drinkable and got better after adding lotsa ice... din find it super nice, very salty and yoghurt-y. The mango lassi that sonia and rachie had was not bad though... even though i dun take mango, gotta admit its nice.

Sonia and Elyn did the ordering. We had...

The vegetable murtabak was really nice. The vege inside was really crunchy!

We also had a rawa masala dosai. Wrapped inside was roasted potato... really yummy. The lady came over to inform us that we ought to dip it in all the 3 sauces. She said its tastier that way. It really did make it taste somewhat different. I liked it.

other side dishes included....

Mock chilli prawns, vegetable mock pepper chicken and some cauliflower thingy. Both sonia and elyn raved about the cauliflower. Seriously its really quite nice.. its actually soft on the inside and before stir frying, its probably fried with light batter. Its a rather unique and different way of having cauliflower. The mock prawns were pretty spicy but not bad. The pepper chicken was quite good. Din taste totally like chicken but close enuff!

We were informed that they also offered buffet.. at a super low price.. $6.50!

Check out the dishes...

and more..

Though we din opt for the buffet, we were allowed to help ourselves to the papadum! hee..
