(Bangkok) RCA roadside stalls

We went over to RCA. We first had some food. It was those roadside stalls...

Bowl ordered chicken noodles for us...

Its really tasty!

The sauces available on the table ....

There was chilli, some fish sauces and even sugar! Yes, they add sugar to the noodles. Thot that was rather special.

And drinks are served in glass bottles bringing about a nostalgic feel...

There was also carts selling bbq meat items...

lil bee shared a chicken and beef skew with me.

after clubbing, we walked out to the main road, we bought some other things to eat...

its also another one of those road side carts..

Fast Food - Popeye Chicken

Had my dinner at Popeye Chicken! I had their fish and popcorn shrimps. Sides i had mashed potato!

Love all 3 items. The mashed potate has tiny bits of crunchy potato in it. The fish was juicy and tender, prawns were bouncy. Love them!

Italian - Valentino

I went over for lunch at Valentino by myself.

Valentino by the day...

The interior...

was actually still pretty crowded in the day despite its to out of the way.

The staff were still just as friendly. However, i think i kinda ordered the wrong things today.

The bread was still as nice.. love the spread...

For starters, i ordered a twisted cheese thingy. I thought it sounded interesting...

It does look interesting ya? But i din like it. Was cold, somewhat mashy and tasteless. I was expecting a cheesy or a bitter cheese taste but nope. Was kinda disappointed and i din finish it.

For mains, i was deciding if i wana take the black ink pasta dat lil bee took the previous time or the beef or the lobster pasta in pink sauce or the duck pasta. Since the duck pasta was their special for today (ie. not on menu), i had that. Valentino served me that dish personally...

I wun say its not nice but it was not wat i was expecting. There is this certain lemon taste at first mouth which slowly went away. The duck was not in slices (i thought it would be) but it was minced. The duck had a somewhat mild mutton taste and the pasta was not linguine or spaghetti (which i would prefer). But i still finished it.

Valentino walked past a few times and he smiled at me. He also came over to ask me how i got to know about the place. Told him a friend brought me here and that i was here last week. He seemed surprised that he din see me. I told him i was here for dinner and he was probably too busy. I think Valentino is cute! hee

For dessert, i had panna cotta.

It was really good! Im most satisfied with my dessert today.

I saw some customers ordering this huge wooden plate mountain of beef. Asked the server and i was told it costs $88! Wow.. must go back and try it. But its a shared dish of coz.

Japanese - Sakae Sushi

Lea and myself proceeded to have lunch at Sakae Sushi coz i had a $20 voucher...

The sides we ordered...

Fried toufu, cha soba and chawanmushi. All not bad.

On the heavier side...

Beef teriyaki. Its tastes horrible. The beef is not tender at all. The sauce was overbearing. The sauce was much too sweet and totally removed any taste of beef. Not nice!

I ordered the salmon rice because i was craving for Waraku's minced raw tuna with spring onion rice. Again, the salmon rice was quite a disappointment. Wasabi taste is pretty strong.. i dun like wasabi. The sesame was ok though. Lea had to help me finish it.

And seeing i've got a voucher, i ordered the gelato i've been wanting to try. We ordered one...

We had Delights. It writes.. " A classic combination of hazelnut, nougat and coffee gelati decorated with dark chocolate, cream and a hazelnut " It had a strong almond taste. I felt so cheated.. i dun like almond taste. I know many people do but i dun and which part of the description wrote ALMOND. =( But its ok, Lea likes almond. hee

Broth (reopening celebration)

Meina and i attended Broth's reopening celebration together.... There was this big big crowd outside Broth.

Check out the crowds...

This event is actually their reopening celebration because they went thru a renovation. According to lil bee, they had already renovated when i was there to celebrate my birthday but i totally can't recall.

The interior...

The crowd inside....

Wilson changed my coke to...

white wine!

Servers were coming around with the canape and desserts...

there was prawn cocktail, massaged lamb loin and oyster natural. Exactly like what lil bee had mentioned in his sms to me earlier. The prawns were fresh, the lamb was also good! I dun usually take lamb coz im afraid of the smell but their lamb is really good, i cant taste that smell. The oysters were the BEST! Its so good i had at least 6! Din really count but at least 6.

Other food includes....

Chocolate banana sandwich which was not bad... salmon sausage which according to lil bee was the most popular item tonight.. chickpea fritters which was not bad as well.

and there was also...

mini pavlova which was oh-so-good! So soft and delicate... really yummy! loved it! There was also baileys served in lil cups made of chocolate meaning after u down the baileys, u can eat the cup.. so cute and fun!

The event was so fun and lively because there were lotsa people around just hanging around enjoying themselves and savouring the free flow food and drinks.

Italian - Ristorante de Valentino

Valentino is located at Jalan Bingka (along Rifle Range Road)....

Valentino....

Elyn recommended the place and lil bee heard rave reviews of the place from his friends.

The following will be pics of the interior of the restaurant.....

And notice how despite being a weekday, its still very packed....

Their menu....

Their service staff were excellent. They were all very friendly, polite, nice and they know their product really well.

We were first served bread with small bowl of a certain spread....

Its abit sour, the olive oil kinda spread dats really nice.

For drinks, i had the hazelnut soda...

din quite like it though.

Lil bee had white wine....

the white wine was pretty good.

We ordered a soup to share....

this is a tomato based seafood soup. Yummy!

and for starters, we ordered a special.. some mushroom special dat i din quite get the name ....

The mushrooms tasted SO SO FRESH! Its a very unique way of eating and i really like it!

For mains, lil bee ordered one of their specialty which is their black ink pasta with crab meat sauce.. it was OH SO SO SO GOOD!

coz i was busy taking pics of his food and my food, lil bee was digging in and he was looking at me saying....

" i'm in heaven already.. u havent start? " hahahaha.. its his way of saying that the food is so darn good!

I ordered a tenderloin in cheese sauce. Initially i thot the tenderloin might be a very small piece of beef... i never never knew it would be........

Yes! can u see how thick that piece of steak is? Its probably much much thicker den any other steak i had..

check out the doneness....

Simply wonderful! Also, the cheese was the very strong cheese which some people might not like it but i happen to LOVE IT! I was so happy and excited with my mains. Of coz, also wif lil bee's mains!

And i tell u how agonising it was for me while i was dining.. coz their dessert cart was placed right behind lil bee....

and i was all eager wanting to koe what they haf to offer... haha...

Their dessert cart....

Check out the varieties of their dessert.. some pies, tarts and panna cotta, caramel custard...

and some more....

in the end, upon the recommendation of a server, lil bee who had initially said he din want dessert, ordered a tiramisu....

Its really good!

I was recommended a chocolate ice cream thingy dat came with burning flames!

Darn cool! and the ice cream seemed to feel much colder den compared to any other ice cream!

It was truly truly a delightful dinner! Makes me so wana go back there for more meals.

Food was heavenly and service was excellent! I totally enjoyed myself!

Indian - Gokul Vegetarian

Elyn has been raving about this Indian restaurant located at little india. She brought us there today. Its called Gokul....

Its a vegetarian restaurant so any meat is actually mock meat.

The server was a very indian lady.

For drinks we ordered....

lime juice, mango lassi and salty lassi. Lassi is something like yoghurt. I was wondering if i should try the sweet or salty lassi. The lady said the salty one has a very indianish taste and would be quite a challenge. Seeing dat its only $2, i decided to take up the challenge! haha.. the taste was not very accepted by the rest of the girls. It was ok to me.. was drinkable and got better after adding lotsa ice... din find it super nice, very salty and yoghurt-y. The mango lassi that sonia and rachie had was not bad though... even though i dun take mango, gotta admit its nice.

Sonia and Elyn did the ordering. We had...

The vegetable murtabak was really nice. The vege inside was really crunchy!

We also had a rawa masala dosai. Wrapped inside was roasted potato... really yummy. The lady came over to inform us that we ought to dip it in all the 3 sauces. She said its tastier that way. It really did make it taste somewhat different. I liked it.

other side dishes included....

Mock chilli prawns, vegetable mock pepper chicken and some cauliflower thingy. Both sonia and elyn raved about the cauliflower. Seriously its really quite nice.. its actually soft on the inside and before stir frying, its probably fried with light batter. Its a rather unique and different way of having cauliflower. The mock prawns were pretty spicy but not bad. The pepper chicken was quite good. Din taste totally like chicken but close enuff!

We were informed that they also offered buffet.. at a super low price.. $6.50!

Check out the dishes...

and more..

Though we din opt for the buffet, we were allowed to help ourselves to the papadum! hee..
