Wok & Barrel

after work, i met up with camilia.. got her to decide what to have for dinner. we both decided today's dinner should be cheap! she said she read online about some cafe along duxton selling nasi lemak etc so we went over. we should have known, duxton where got cheap one? hahahhaa


the place is called Wok & Barrel...




and somehow it feels right to order alcohol..



i had a very enjoyable apple cider...





complimentary starters of papadum! *LOVES* we asked for 2 repeat servings.. hehe...



the nasi lemak! true, the nasi lemak itself wasnt expensive. it was i think $2.90 only.



but we also ordered some other items that increased the bill so dinner was about 60 odd. haha.

camilia said the curry chicken was popular too...



the curry chicken was not bad. the curry was a little rendang style. taste wise it was good although the meat felt a little recooked. 

5 spice pork...



very small serving but not bad in terms of taste.

the dessert menu also looked too good to miss. so we ordered the pulau hitam cake ...




it was pretty much similiar to sticky date pudding except it was made with pulau hitam so its a lot more textured compared to the usual sticky date pudding. its pretty good. the ice cream is pretty thick though. not to my liking.

we also shared a honeycomb cheesecake...



it was a lot different from what we thought it would be. it tasted mildly of bleu cheese with a little sweet taste. while i love bleu cheese, this didnt quite go well with me. the crumbles below were nice though! however, the servers were really nice, when we checked with them if this is how its supposed to taste, they got a portion and tasted it and told us the taste is right and offered to remove it from the bill if we felt it wasnt right. but we declined the offer since honestly, we didnt know how it should taste to begin with. 

overall, the service has been good.
