Spring Summer (Bangkok)

we took a cab down to spring summer where we had our dinner. it was recommended by kaizhi's fren edward and he said their dessert called Better Than Sex is a MUST TRY.

spring summer is located at 199 Soi Sukhumvit 49. it was a little hard to locate the place coz the driver didnt know where it is but it does seem pretty popular with locals coz when we told the hotel staffs, they went.. " oohhh.. spring summer "

the interior of the place...

our drinks....

kaizhi had a lychee freeze (120 baht) while i had a true kiss (120 baht). the lychee freeze was really good! my true kiss was lychee, lime and grenadine smoothie. slightly sour but refreshing.

we shared the appetizer of calamari (290 baht)...

their calamari was really good. the batter was not very thick but the rings were big yet bouncy. texture was good!

recommended by the server, soft shell cream and cream cheese sushi (300 baht)...

didnt find it impressive. in fact, could barely taste the softshell crab.

for mains, i had the smoked salmon pasta with creamy tomato sauce (330 baht)...

it was not bad. the creamy tomato sauce was pretty good.

kaizhi had the spaghetti with seafood in thai basil and chilli sauce (320 baht)...

it was really spicy! but kaizhi really liked the noodles.

finally, it was dessert time! we were really spoilt for choice! While we were enthu and eager to go for the Better Than Sex, the other items looked damn good too! so we decided that since we'll not be back any time soon, let's just proceed! haha

The much anticipated Better Than Sex (140 baht)...

its actually molten chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and whipped cream.

while it was nice, i dont think it lived up to its hype. or maybe our expectations were too hyped up. i just think its a normal molten chocolate cake.

Cup C (180 baht)...

chocolate cake baked in a cup with a scoop of vanillia ice cream. it was nice and the ice cream and cake effect seldom fails.

Lost in Combination (120 baht)...

sounds better than it looks. Looks better than it tastes. its salted caramel mousse, chocolate mille crepe, chocolate chip cookie base topped with chocolate caramel sauce.
