Tomton

Joanne and i did lunch at Tomton to celebrate her birthday. We've both heard of this place seperately and Jo is particularly interested in it coz shes a big time Katsu Don fan. The black pig was raved to be really tender and juicy. When we got there, Jo contemplated not going into Tomton but head to Ramutama because she saw queues at Ramutama. Tomton was pretty empty. haha...

But in the end, we did still end up in Tomton....

we shared a platter thingy... the menu wrote that it feeds 3 - 4 person...

seriously, i dun think the quantity feeds 3 - 4 person. But the price does.

This platter works out to probably ard 40 odd!! if u order it wif the normal pork, its abt $38.90. To get the good grade black pig, its an additional $5. But seriously, don't bother. We upgraded but theres nothing to shout about the black pig in our view.

a closer up view of the black pig...

i didnt find it exceptionally tender or juicy. It was probably just slightly above average. I think i've had much better pork from Perle Noire or Broth. Of coz, different styles of cooking.

the fish was pretty good though....

it felt fresh and there was a layer of seaweed. Its really good and guess what? I vaguely recall it costs only ard $4 plus to order the fish as a side. The other small round deep fried tingy was some plum and pork thingy (which also tastes normal) was also only ard $4 plus. I feel short changed for the platter actually.

Jo also ordered the pork katsu thingy on sizzling plate...

it was pretty good in Jo's view. Im not much of a katsu don person (unless the pork is really exceptionally good) so i guess her view counts. haha.

the katsu thingy was a set, came wif soup...

this soup in both our views, is exceptionally good! Tasty and very generous wif ingredients as well!
