Blooie's Roadhouse

after work, i went to meet up wif loh gong zai, andy and jo-ann at Blooie's....

I've specially pre-ordered their beer butt chicken which i've been meaning to try. gotta order 3 days in advance!

loh gong zai ordered a mixed sausages to share....

i thot the sausages were just so so.. pretty pricey also.. around $16 if i recall correctly.

for mains, i was in the mood for tomato paste pasta so i had the meat ball pasta....

it went well wif me. the noodles were very soft but was ok for me... loh gong zai found it too soft. Overall, its rather ordinary but just went well wif my appetite for today.

i recommended andy the black pepper chicken...

i really think the creamy black pepper sauce they use is real good. goes so well wif the tender chicken.

loh gong zai ordered some loin steak...

he ordered it to be medium well (his preference) and despite it being medium well, it was relatively tender!

and finally, the star of today!!

i was mildly disappointed coz i thot.. haha.. it would arrive as a chicken standing wif a beer can stuffed at the bottom. look here. but well, i would say, that would make it very hard to eat.. haha..

the chicken alone was alright.. pretty average and i couldnt understand what's so beer butt about it until the person came wif the sauce.....

den we realised the beer taste came along wif the sauce. still, the beer taste was rather mild... not exactly beer-y.

all in all, it was rather expensive experience. $38 for the chicken. and we didnt finish it coz we were all very full from the mains. ha..

loh gong zai ordered a pint of hoegaarden....

just an observation.. we realised asians.. or at least guys around me, tend to go for hoegaarden.. ang mohs tend to go for tiger. haha.. loh gong zai said maybe the beer taste is stronger for tigers and ang moh like the strong beer taste whereas asians like hoegaarden for it being light.

I like Hoegaarden because it's smoother and doesn't make me burp so much. Heh! So there isn't any beer taste in the chicken?
