At around 5 plus, Patrick and Sarah started to move alot of Chocz bags into the training room..

wow.. quite happy seeing so many bags of Chocz!

Its a departmental gift for everyone...

shaped into 2 mini mandarin orange shape in conjunction with the festive season...

the inside...

not sure wats the orange part bt the only chocolate was the white chocolate between the orange part and the inside. The inside is some orange.. jam like yet not jam substance (which i dun like coz i dun like orange flavourings). But overall was alright. One for me and one for mummy!

Lucky Western Food

Lunch was with YY. We went to the kopitiam near my place. Blk 123 Geylang East Ave 1. Had the western food from the stall mum always ta bao from. We ta bao until we koe the uncle already. The uncle is a very nice man. He gives out his mobile no. for customers to call to order before going down to collect.

have tried his chicken chop, fish and chips, chicken cutlet before. Of these, the fish and chips and chicken cutlet is pretty popular amongst many of my friends who have tried it.

Today's actually my first time dining at the place and i ordered a mixed grill....

comes with chicken chop (good!), pork chop (very thin, not for me), bacon, sausage, ham and egg.

Miss Clarity Cafe

The seafoodies feb gathering at Miss Clarity Cafe (purvis street).

shared a glutton platter ...

comes with nuggets, onion rings, potato wedges, some fish cake deep fried thingy and chicken wings. Every item was pretty good.

We also shared a fish baked rice....

Clammy loved it. The rest of us find it not bad but we prefer the Garlic Crusted Dory....

Squiddy was especially full of praises for it.

and we also ordered the red wine risotto under my recommendation coz i rem it being pretty unique and nice. I was under the impression that Crabby and i had it during one of our previous visits and that she liked it too. Turned out that the time when i tried this was when i was here wif Lionel and Norman. The risotto dat Crabby and i tried and she liked was the seafood risotto. haha..

the red wine risotto.....

i like it as much as i did the last time but it didnt seem to go well with the rest of the girls ... they all cant quite accept the taste.. haha.. so i guess this is an acquired taste.. u may not like it.

Dinner was so cheap. After splitting, its only about $7 per person.

The lighting was very dim at Miss Clarity Cafe. Seriously am not sure why they wana dim all the lights in the shop for the night. Coz its really very dark to a very uncomfy feel. Maybe also coz of the colours of the walls, it makes it even darker which is why we didnt stay on.

Raffles Hotel

Some people from another dept came over to brief us and they brought some ang pow packets and Raffles Hotel haybe hiam spring rolls for us. Nicely packed in a box...

the small bag of spring rolls...

the haybe hiam fillings...

its pretty good!

Central

Lunch today was with YY at Parkway. he said he's not been there so i brought him there. We had Central.

Each had a iced milk tea....

shared a fried wanton....

Fillings of meat and prawns...

The wanton is really tasty! the skin is crispy and the filling is tasty!

I tried the shrimps with salted egg fried rice...

it smells really good...

the shrimps are pretty big and fresh. the rice felt a lil dry though overall taste was stil alright.

Recommended the baked rice to YY and he had chicken cheese baked rice....

Hakata Nihon Ryori

We went to check out Hakata Nihon Ryori (33 Mohd Sultan)....

the interior is a cozy small restaurant....

the menu....

the service of this place is extremely good. if ten was full marks, i'd probably give it a ten.

Firstly, the staffs were all really polite. When we were ordering, because i was too full to order any mains, we decided to order a couple of sides to share in addition to their mains. The staff offered some really good suggestions patiently w/o being pushy.

as starters, like how many western dining places offer complimentary bread, this place offers the green peas (duno the name)...

i thot thats pretty cool coz most other places would charge for this!

we had a japanese clams cooked in wine sauce thingy (ard $16)....

a closer up view...

its really good! the clams are all pretty fresh... the soup is very good. Its clear soup with a mild wine and clam taste. Really good! The seaweed was also great. The green corriandor like greens were not corriandor.. at least they taste really different from corriandor ... not sure wat it is but its pretty good as well.

uncle sq chose this fish....

Crispy on the outside, quite juicy on the inside..

another view (very thin though)...

and i had chawanmushi....

the chawanmushi got alot of liao! There was scallop (very yummy and fresh), prawn, mushroom, chicken....

uncle sq's some pork rice...

do u see they gave a total of 5 pieces of pork? they are really big in size, generous in serving! But i didnt like the pork. It was too sweet. was a very chinese taste.

ah yee had cha soba set with tempura....

pretty good!!

And even though i didnt get any mains and ah yee's set didnt come with dessert, we were given a slice of watermelon each.. their watermelon was sweettttt....

also, we kinda heard the servers informing the other table that the sets they ordered actually included chawanmushi coz they had seperately ordered chawanmushi. Reminded ah yee and me about our previous visit to Szechuan court. The server knowingly knew that the platter we had in our set dinner included jelly fish. Yet when we ordered, not only did they not infm us, they luffed at us when it was served. and it was at Szechuan court! Cant believe they had such bad service.

the whole dinner came up to about $60 plus.

Tony Romas

Late lunch at Tony Romas. the interior ...

the table setting...

the complimentary bread....

this somewhat garlic butter thingy is soooooooooo good!

their baked potato soup....

check out the details...

theres spring onions, bacon and cheddar cheese....

it is SO SO SO YUMMY! Its thick and tasty! There are chunks of potato and the cheddar cheese just meltssss with the heat of the soup.. MMmm.. even the crackers is also exceptionally good!

for mains, i had a steak (ribeye) and ribs combo with sides of baked potato and rice....

tony romas is apparently famous for their ribs....

while i felt it was alright, i wasnt particularly impressed.

the steak...

Done medium rare..

the steak doesnt look as good as it tastes. Its pretty good in the sense that the beefy taste is there. While it may not be tender tender, its pretty decent.

Buko Nero

Dinner at Buko Nero with Meina and Aloy. Our reservation was at 7.30 pm.

Again, no pictures allowed of the food.

The complimentary bread today was much much better den the previous time. There was 2 types. One was the round one dat was also available during the previous visit but this time, its more crispy on the outside and went very well with the olive oil. The other type available was in strips of rectangular with topping like tomato and cheese probably. very nice! also went very well with the olive oil.

the complimentary mini item from Oscar was this mini crispy bread layered with veal and mayo topped with corriandor. This was also great though very mini. haha... leaves us lingering for more.

for mains, we all had steak. Meina had the australian steak with prune sauce and bacon (duno the full name coz its not on the menu). That was not bad. Served with mashed potato. The steak was thick but portion was not big.

Aloy and i had argentina steak which was smoother. Portion of the steak was same as meina. Served with slices of potato. It was marinated with garlic, shallots and cant remember what. Slightly sour but very yummy in taste.

Desserts wise.. i cant remember all the names. But i remember one was some hazelnut cake which is made w/o flour. Another was a warm chocolate cake and den it was a coconut something. All 3 were great! Very crispy on the outside kind. Even meina whos not a cake lover gave her thumbs up and its amazing. U koe how usually chefs who are good at mains probably would not be as good in desserts and pastry etc? Apparently it isnt the case for Chef Oscar.

We've made our reservations for our next visit!
