Hakata Nihon Ryori

We went to check out Hakata Nihon Ryori (33 Mohd Sultan)....

the interior is a cozy small restaurant....

the menu....

the service of this place is extremely good. if ten was full marks, i'd probably give it a ten.

Firstly, the staffs were all really polite. When we were ordering, because i was too full to order any mains, we decided to order a couple of sides to share in addition to their mains. The staff offered some really good suggestions patiently w/o being pushy.

as starters, like how many western dining places offer complimentary bread, this place offers the green peas (duno the name)...

i thot thats pretty cool coz most other places would charge for this!

we had a japanese clams cooked in wine sauce thingy (ard $16)....

a closer up view...

its really good! the clams are all pretty fresh... the soup is very good. Its clear soup with a mild wine and clam taste. Really good! The seaweed was also great. The green corriandor like greens were not corriandor.. at least they taste really different from corriandor ... not sure wat it is but its pretty good as well.

uncle sq chose this fish....

Crispy on the outside, quite juicy on the inside..

another view (very thin though)...

and i had chawanmushi....

the chawanmushi got alot of liao! There was scallop (very yummy and fresh), prawn, mushroom, chicken....

uncle sq's some pork rice...

do u see they gave a total of 5 pieces of pork? they are really big in size, generous in serving! But i didnt like the pork. It was too sweet. was a very chinese taste.

ah yee had cha soba set with tempura....

pretty good!!

And even though i didnt get any mains and ah yee's set didnt come with dessert, we were given a slice of watermelon each.. their watermelon was sweettttt....

also, we kinda heard the servers informing the other table that the sets they ordered actually included chawanmushi coz they had seperately ordered chawanmushi. Reminded ah yee and me about our previous visit to Szechuan court. The server knowingly knew that the platter we had in our set dinner included jelly fish. Yet when we ordered, not only did they not infm us, they luffed at us when it was served. and it was at Szechuan court! Cant believe they had such bad service.

the whole dinner came up to about $60 plus.
