Steak - Outback (Dar dar's birthday)

A surprise birthday dinner for Dar dar at Outback Steakhouse...

The interior of the place....

Our first order came. It was Bushman Shrooms!

It ... was... SO SO SO GOOD i tell you! The mushrooms are fried with a slightly crispy exterior and with one bite, will lau chap one!

See all the chap....

Meaning to say its very juicy on the inside. It was great!

Next to arrive was their blooming onion...

we couldn't help compare it to the one we had at Black Angus. I prefer Outback's (partly coz i already cannot remember Black Angus' taste) but Deanie prefers Black Angus'.

Next to arrive is the popcorn shrimp....

Nothing fantastic. Popeye Chicken's one is much much better and cheaper!

Maincourse wise, Andy zai's Sizzling Sirloin was the first to arrive...

A sizzling plate of tender beef, sliced and served over grilled onions and a fresh medley of vegetables. Didn't try the vegetables but the beef was alright.

Next was dar dar's Rockhampton....

the steak was really tender! Also, the sauce was pretty special. Tasted abit like some wine. I quite liked it...

Den was my Prime Minister's Prime Rib....

I ordered the doneness to be medium but it came to be all bloody. A lil too rare for my liking....

I requested it to be brought back to be cooked up...

Very thick piece of meat. Nice but not very tender in my view.

den was Deanie's Jackeroo Chop...

Its actually pork chop. Sonia recommended this because she loves the sauce. Sadly, none of us who tried liked it. haha.... The pork chop was not bad but dar found it abit too saltish. I found it ok.

Den Andy ordered fish and chips....

hmm.. i wouldnt suggest u do the same. He ordered dat because he recently found out that he has an allergy to chicken. The fish and chips was nice but to have it at Outback makes me feel dat its a waste of stomach storage space. hahahhaah....
Loh gong zai and Kendi ordered the Alice duno what spring chicken...

chicken was quite tender and coated with melted cheese and mushrooms.... nice~!

and loh gong zai ordered the outback sirloin....

hehe.. forgot to try... duno if its nice.
The cake we ordered was their oliva cheesecake with caramel sauce.....

Let me the tell u, the cake can make you experience orgasm man!! Its dat good. Deanie agreed with me! We shared the cake and Deanie after trying, didn't wana pass me the spoon! Miu~

we left the place around 10 odd i think.

Italian - Modestos

Met up with Imran and Jeffrey for dinner at Modestos.

Starters.. they ordered calamari....

they actually also had some kinda bread with some olive oil sour sauce which was pretty good... *forgot to take picture* but too bad they didn't order their garlic bread because their garlic bread is super uber nice!

our mains....

From left....

Tagliatelle Nere Con Cappesante E Gamberi In Salsa
Home-made black ink flat noodles served with pan-fried scallops and prawns
Jeffrey ordered this item. I know he loves this item ever since i gave him a treat @ Modestos on his birthday 2 years back...

Ravioloni Di Pesce Al Pomodoro E Basilico
Home-made pasta filled with minced prawn and crabmeat in a fresh tomato and basil sauce
My favourite ravioli! The minced prawn and crabmeat filling is wonderful i tell u! LOVE IT! But today's ravioli taste wasn't as good as previously

Fettuccine Al Salmone Affumicato
Home-made flat noodles with smoked salmon in a creamy tomato sauce
Imran ordered this but complained the sauce to be too thick. haha.. he had a hard time finishing it

Western - 211 Roof Terrace Cafe

211 Roof Terrace Cafe..... located at Holland Village Shopping Centre

and this is Raymond chatting with one of the chefs....

Their range of desserts....

This apple dunowat thingy caught my eye .... its so cute!~

The weather was really really cold because of the rainy day even though we sat outdoors. This is the outdoors of the restaurant....

Beautiful ambience. However, because of the rain, we couldn't view the parts that were overlooking Holland Village. I believe the view must be beautiful as well.

This is their menu....

The items especially the main course prices are pretty steep. Ard $26+ each. Pasta was better at ard $15+ each. We were all trying to not order first but wait for each other to order first so dat we can not order the same thing and yet still pinch on other's food. hahhahaa...

In the end, our orders were.....

Soup of the day was mushroom soup and we only ordered one and passed around. The soup was alright. Similiar to Marche's mushroom soup but i would say that Marche's one is better.

I had Mushroom ravioli. Cream based sauce. Everyone liked the sauce. The taste was not too bad but the ravioli was not thickly filled....

But overall it was not bad.

Dar ordered spagetthi marinara. It was not bad.

We shared a fisherman platter. I dun really like the calamari and the fried stuff they had actually.

Raymond's dish i cant remember the name but its prawns cooked in aglio style. Quite nice. I quite like it. Its tasty and most importantly, the prawns are very big and fresh!

Deanie had some roast chicken thingy. It was supposedly marinated in some herbs but is very very expensive! We can't understand why its one of the more expensive items on the menu. The taste was ok but definitely not worth the price. Even the proportion (half a spring chicken) was not worth the price.

Andy had bolognese. It was alright. Serving was good.

Loh gong zai n Kendi had pork ribs. It looked appetising. Taste was not bad as well. They also had a crayfish pasta. Didn't try, duno if its nice.

Drinks wise, we had.......

Strawberry smoothie. Its like some strawberry freeze. Nice!

Oreo milkshake. Not too thick. Good!

Lychee Ice Blended. Potent sia! Good!

Strawberry milkshake. didnt try, duno if its nice.

Hee.. i ordered dat cute cute dessert!

When i ordered, i couldn't quite recall the name of this and i was telling the cute server.. i want to order that dessert bt im not sure of the name.. its the one with dat round what top ..... and before i could finish, he said its called apple marine (i duno if its actually spelt as M-A-R-I-N-E but it sounded like marine when he pronounced it). And he actually said its the one dat u said is very cute earlier.... Ooopz.... he actually heard me... so paiseh! haha.. but he was smiling away...probably luffing at my comical-ness... haha.. cute guy

and this is the apple marine.....

i was exclaiming at how interesting this item is as i was eating it..... u see the top .....

we all shared this item.

The Moomba Tuck Shop

After work today, it was raining again.. i went over to Moomba again to buy my mini muffins... hee... today the lady at Moomba smiled and talked to me, asked me about my christmas, asked me what i like about the muffins and stuff.. I rave about this because on my first trip there, i noticed that she's not exactly a very smiley person despite how i try to smile to her... but after my second and third visit, shes smiling back to me too.. and chatting wif me.... and if that's not all, when i asked her about the rose cream tart, she offered me a piece of their breakage...............

to try for free!!!!!

So nice of her right? Breakage are those dat are not in full pieces and can't be sold. Though it may be something small and its something she cannot sell anyway, but she needn't have given it to me.. yet she did. To let me sample it. I was so happy.. more impressed by the gesture den the tart itself. Anyway, the tart was nice.. the custard texture is like egg tart but tasted like bandung and its not too sweet... =)

The Moomba Tuck Shop

I walked over to Moomba after work.

I asked the aunty if they have the mini sandwiches.. again she told me its out.. but this time, she asked if im willing to wait (probably coz she saw my 'sincerity', being there yesterday and today)... she specially made a set for me.....

The mini set consists of a dozen mini sandwiches... namely vegetarian (portobello), seafood (crab mayo), beef (roast beef), salmon (sugar duno wat salmon), ham (honey ham) and chicken (poached chicken).

Yay, i bought the mini muffins as well! Yesterday i said i really liked the muffin right? Today i declare i love them!

And check out the cute mini sandwiches! I specially took pics and let you guys compare them against the size of my fingers....

Cuteeeee right? They are going to be my dinner for today!

The Moomba Tuck Shop

Was walking around before work and i walked past the cafe that was featured on tv last night!

The place is called The Moomba Tuck.Shop. Its located at 4 Battery Road, the basement of Bank of China. I told myself i must check this place out soon.

After work, i walked back to The Moomba.

The interior of the the place....

Despite being located at the basement, the white walls and all gave it a simple, clean and bright feel. Reminds me of those cafes always seen in the movies. Love the atmosphere.

Their menu....

their selection of salads....

and their special muffins!

As featured on the TV programme yesterday, their muffins are special because instead of the usual sweet muffins, their muffins are saltish. They have flavours like tomato, bacon and onion, etc... i bought the mini sized ones, VERY NICE. As in, i really liked them.

Their sandwiches were also featured yesterday. I tried to check on their mini sampler size sandwiches but it was sold out so i took a normal sized one. I opted for a roast beef sandwich.

This is the choice of bread they have....

I know its not very clear.. and i can't really recall the different names.. I chose Tomato Toast though.

this is the lady preparing my sandwich...

Aside from roast beef, there's also a spread of mushrooms... Yum~!

Italian - Pasta Brava

Pasta Brava!

Today we were seated nearer to the wall so i can take a clearer pic of the wall....

When patrons order pasta like spagetthi or linguini, they'll usually put a bib ard them....

The boss actually came over to us to explain to us why they had to put the bib on....

I think its for reasons that they fear the sauce from the pasta might stain our tops...

Anyway, there were a few servers who kinda came too close to comfort... we didn't really appreciate some of their humour.. in fact, it pissed Jo off. haha....

The starters we ordered.....

For mains we ordered...

From left: Carbonara, Agnolotti Farciti Al Salmone and Stracci Gamberi E Capesante!

Carbonara as we all know is a cream based pasta with bacon or ham. It was not bad.

The Agnolotti Farciti Al Salmone taste was not bad as well but i guess my favourite ravioli has still gotta be Modesto's!

The Stracci Gamberi E Capesante was WOO HOO! WONDERFUL! It is a cream based pasta but it doesn't feel too creamy and the cream has a strong prawn taste.. absolutely yummy! The pasta is thinly sliced to perfection!

Italian - Pasta - Pasta Brava

I went on to meet up with Fiona for dinner at Pasta Brava....

Located at 11 Craig Road...

ard 5 minutes walk away from Tanjong Pagar MRT station......

I went in first as Fiona was held up at work....

The ambience of the place was great!

This is the menu..... Designed in the form like its some newsletter.....

Look at the variety of ravioli they have!! I'm sooooooo spoilt for choices!!!

They also have this little basket of chalks where we are allowed to draw on the mahjong paper on the table.....

So i drew.... Can you guess what this is?

haha.... i hope my drawing was ok.. a pic of the lamp on the table!

But i doubt it'll be nice enuff to be placed onto their wall of fame.....

lol.. that's where they pin up some of the drawings which i presume were drawn by guests....
When Fiona arrived, we ordered.....

We shared a soup of the day - Cream of Asparagus.....

Was not bad..

Our starter was fried calamari....

Tastes wonderful! Not rubbery but rather, crunchy (duno if u can use dat to describe elyn squid) lol.... Really.. its VERY GOOD!!!

Fiona's Marinara in cream tomato sauce......

U know how Marinara are usually tomato based, upon special request, they added cream for Fiona and it tastes really different and Fiona kept going on saying that its VERY GOOD! VERY NICE! haha...

As for me, i ... i know i said no more cream pasta.... i... give in to temptation! I had their beef ravioli in gorgonzola cheese sauce....

The server specifically warned me before ordering this.... coz apparently alot of locals couldn't take the cheese smell.. they find it too smelly.. They were surprised dat i could take the smell and actually quite liked it.... just dat u can't have too much of it or u'll probably feel sick.. portion was just right....

For dessert, the most unique item we figured was their caramel cream....

I din like it! Dun think Fiona likes it either coz its got abit of almond taste.... i dun like!

I'm not done with Pasta Brava yet! I still wana wana wana try their other ravioli!!! Anyone interested? hee....
