Chop Chop Club (Shanghai)

Dinner today was at the bund again! This time at Chop Chop Club, Unico!

As we entered, we were informed that Chop Chop Club is also by chef Paul Pairet who also owns Mr & Mrs Bunds that we visited yesterday. With such a good experience last night, we were filled with anticipation for today's dinner!

Probably due to the availability of space vs here in Singapore, they had  enough space for comfy tables and plush sofas which makes sitting down for the meals thoroughly enjoyable!

The setting was gorgeous and bar counters were made of marble giving that sophisticated decor...

Food wise, we were first served some roasted edamame. It was roasted with salt and it was really good! Might be a little salty but it was good.

And they had a screen that semi looks like some stock market / airport boarding screen, reflecting the availability of different items...

It tells you when which item will be ready or is it sold out!

The concept of this place, as they explained it is that they will show you the item (as a whole) before serving them...

Yes, like this rib....

U will see the serving portion later!

We ordered 3 egg mayo and this is how it's served!

3 hard boiled eggs, mayo sauce and an empty bowl for your egg shells!

Bibi was so annoyed! Hahaha "I got to peel my own egg?"

Hahahaha

Guacamole...

The guacamole was pretty good thou! Texture was good, seemed to be a bit on the sour side with vinegar and lime. Goes great with bread...

Beef rib... indeed looking alike the one from mr and mrs bund...

The octopus that was amazing!!! Best dish of the night, in fact, challenging the prawn from Xin Da Lu to be best dish of this trip!

The octopus was nicely charred yet the texture was firm. It was so good!

The pork ribs when done...

Pork ribs were not bad.

The beef ribs when served...

It was tender and not bad but not as good as mr and mrs bund. One side was even super fatty....

The chicken...

Which to be honest was quite forgettable.

Pumpkin soup...

Service here was a little bummer. We witnessed the boss chiding the side on the side. When we asked for suggestions for the dessert, the boss suggested we order 8 desserts each, one for each of us. Xinying's immediate response was " no no, I don't think we can finish " and the boss' reply was " then you don't ask me "

Not the most polite reply even if it was a joke.

And the desserts took so damn long to arrive we were seated till all enthusiasm was slowly sucked out of us.

So even when the desserts arrived again with the sparklers, which obviously we already saw the cake from a mile away! Haha

The desserts were to be honest, forgettable. Even the Nutella dessert was sourish.

Overall the food here is not spectacular. I think Mr and Mrs Bund was much better. Likewise for the service!
