Jones The Grocer

Joelle asked me last week to arrange a good lunch together and got me to think of a place so i suggested Jones the Grocer!

Joelle had a sandwich...

i teased her for coming so far to have sandwich!

their wagyu beef pie....

the inside...

the beef is a little dry. reminds me a bit of wu xiang rou ding. not to my liking!

i was tempted to order the risotto again coz its just damn good. but i suddenly recall i saw people ordering the burger the first time i came and it looks damn good too. and the menu says it comes with bleu cheese!

so i had that!

LOOKS DAMN GOOD RIGHT??

and may i tell you, as of now, I CANNOT GET OVER HOW YUMMY THEIR BURGER IS!!! its like one of my favourite burger for now!

they are generous in their portion of bleu cheese.....

people who love smelly cheese like me will love this! many other places will claim to add bleu cheese but put in damn miserable portions but this one is just shoooo damn good!

for desserts, the girls already know i have been having cravings for their red velvet cake so they chose another cake which is the strawberry shortcake (happy!! coz thats another of my fav cake! haha)

their strawberry shortcake..

the girls were saying this is good. i told them they NEED to try Canele's. The strawberry shortcake here is decent .. around bakerzinn standards. but i still think that as of now, the best strawberry shortcake i've had is Canele's!

and of coz, we shared my red velvet cake!

its really really good! cant quite explain what that taste is but really like it!

its a yummy pizza! i love it for the thin crust and yummy ingredients and that squid ink sauce.

we also shared a black pepper linguine...

its really tasty and nicely fried. loads of pieces of prawn meat.

refreshing but a lil too sweet. generous portion of lychee!

a side fries to share...

which was not too bad.

kent's fried rice...

think its decent despite it looking very white.

leelin's chicken with mushroom bowl...

the rice is actually quite well made fragrant with the mushroom. chicken pieces are quite tender as well.

my mixed grill w spag...

the garlic sauces is ok. the chicken n pork tender n not bad in my view.

amelia's chicken baked rice...

which is not bad either. the chicken is tender and thick!

mitchelle's curry chicken baked rice...

LFNK

we decided to do dinner around TPY and derrick recommended this chicken rice place that is supposedly quite famous...

the chicken rice..

didnt find the chicken rice really good coz its a bit hard. but on the contrary, kaizhi likes it coz she said she likes her rice hard.

the you ji (soya sauce chicken)...

the you ji was alright. kaizhi commented she found it a bit weird to have the you ji with chicken rice. she felt she should have opted for the noodles instead.

the thai crispy tofu...

decent.

roast pork...

hmmm.. didnt think it was good. not very crispy.

braised pork...

this was pretty good! very fatty but i usually dont take the top part. the meat was good.

dumpling soup...

not very good.

beansprouts...

the beansprouts by itself was good.. but made better coz they gave a generous portion of lard! both sq and i love it! hehe...

Hawk Cafe

we did lunch at the hawk cafe located at the Bird Park!

ever since the last visit with the old folks home, i have been thinking about their nasi lemak with their big drumstick coz i didnt get to try their food the last time!

the refreshing iced lemon tea...

really refreshing and looks totally appetising although its really just lipton iced tea. haha

my big drumstick nasi lemak!!

see! i was not kidding when i said its BIG DRUMSTICK right? overall the nasi lemak was decent but not superb. the chicken was nice and big but wont say its spectacular. just decent. but i like that its soooo big! haha

sq's chicken rice...

didnt try the chicken rice.

Derrick's laksa...

the laksa was not bad in my view.

the two lil ones got nuggets and fries...

which was also normal.

The Asian Kitchen

after work, met up with diana and mr tan for a catch up. ding tai feng was mad packed so we adjourned over to The Asian Kitchen.

they had a special which was their roast meat...

wasnt spectacular but decent.

their speciality was their roast duck...

which was not bad.

we also shared a hor fun...

decent.

salted egg si ji dou...

yummy!

Ambush

according to methilda, she said its obvious i prefer western food to chinese. theres this sparkle in my eyes when i talk or see western food. haha..

we were around jurong point for our appointment and decided to settle lunch here...

a plus point is their menu is more picture-y den wordy.

we went for the set lunch. soup of the day was minestrone...

which was not too bad!

set lunch comes with soup and a drink. cost only either $9.90 or $11.90!

methilda had the seafood panella ($11.90) ...

which is not too bad.

we shared a pork cheese sausage set ($9.90)...

their sausage was not bad. mashed potato could be better. mashed potato can be changed to rosti with a top up of $2 actually.

couldnt resist but order an additional baby scallop squid ink ...

ooo.. comes with fish roe on the top. their squid ink may not have the very strong squid taste but overall the flavour was decent. i quite liked it. been so long since i had squid ink!
