Tanuki Raw

Catching up with the 有你真好 team over lunch! We checked out one of the current hip place, tanuki raw!

Wham spam fries to share...

Their spam fires isn't too salty which was good. The batter was fine too though I personally might have preferred it thinner.

The sour cream and guacamole was awesome thou!

Most of us went for the donburi! I had the foie gras truffle yakiniku which was going at $19! An addition of $5 makes it a set and comes with a drink, miso soup and salad...

The beef bowl was much better than my first try. Honestly, it's not bad for its price, topped with a nice thick slab of foie gras and egg!

It's probably not right to compare it to the one at Fat Cow (which is crazy awesome btw) because the prices are already quite different.

The drinks that came with the set. I had the watermelon yuzu while fishy had the honey lemon...

A few of the others had their chirashi don..:

Baba Chews

Jefrince asked me out for a birthday treat so we went to check out Baba Chews.

She said she loves peranakan food!

Located at level 1 of Hotel Indigo, Katong...

The interior is gorgeous! Filled with rich peranakan tiles and nonya feel!

Even their menu is so pretty!

Complimentary chips to kick start the meal!

The Keropoks are our local traditional keropoks and they are yummy! Been a long while since I had them!

We both had iced Teh Tarik....

The Teh Tarik was not thick enuff.

Kueh pie tee...

The kueh pie tee was decent.

Pork ball soup...

The soup was quite tasty, broth like style. The meatball was just ok thou.

The Iberico pork Babi pongteh...

This was good! The pork was soft and it was tasty and flavorful. We both liked this!

The chicken buah keluak...

The chicken buah keluak was decent but not exactly good. The nut itself was quite hard inside so it was hard to scoop the inside stuff.

The chicken was also relatively tough.

Taste wise was ok thou.

Chup chai...

The chap chye was good.

There's always room for dessert! So we shared a chendol...

Which was good with gula melaka syrup.

Magurodonya

Because the maguro sashimi was just way too good, we went back today!

Too good!

Even the gunkan!

+Sixty6

Gathering with Lions was requested to be at +Sixty6 located at 1A Short Street, to show support to this damn yummy but could have to close down due to lack of business Thai place!

It is located near the Rochor's Rochor tau huay!

It is located within this building...

Janice and myself were the first to arrive so we ordered sides to share first.

First was the stuffed wings....

Check out the batter!

The wings was not bad!

But the prawn cakes were better!

Even as the prawn cakes brushed against each other, that sound of the crisp skin was sooooo good! And the inside was succulent! Really good!

The papaya salad that came with salted egg! I thought it was pretty good!

The spicy seafood vermicelli ...

Which was so shiok and refreshing! A little spicy but it was pretty good!

Tom yum soup...

Which was pretty good too!

The grilled pork collar....

A little sweet but a hot favourite amongst the rest!

Chicken green curry...

I thot their chicken green curry was pretty good! Flavorful and using chicken drum meat!

Another dish we ordered was the seafood curry...

The paste is thick and the gravy tastes like our old school curry twisters! It's nice!

And of course, my favourite fluffy omelette with bak chor!

The rest agreed this is good!

It's really not easy to find such authentic Thai food here!

Tom yum fried rice...

Green curry fried rice...

Both the fried rice were pretty decent as well.

During my previous entry I mentioned they might have to close down. Today we enquired again, they mentioned they likely will still have to but not so soon!

Once again, hopefully small businesses like these with legit good food can withstand the challenges and stay on!

Maguro Donya

Upon seeing the maguro sushi on social media, i was so drawn by it I had to visit!

When I googled, it was found that they had a few outlets and one of it at Suntec City tower 3, level 3!

For starters, I had a tamago sushi...

It was delightfully big! Came as a surprise but it's so good!

Yum!

And maguro sushi....

This.... this was only $18 and the sashimi MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH! Really! I have never had such good maguro sashimi!!

I also ordered a minced tuna with uni sushi that made me come here!

Oh gosh check out that mountain!! In fact, this is only a hill, there's another one that is bigger, that's probably the real mountain!!

I also had a mini negitoro don!

Which is also good at $19.90 and the tempura was also damn awesome!

The negitoro don...

Winnie had the unagi don...

Which she said was good too!

What a delightful meal! I'm so coming back for the maguro!
