we had dinner at Serenity (at vivo city). I-shan recommended this place since more than a year ago and i have been keen to try it out..
this place... is rather interesting. in different ways. they have very limited air con seats in my view. we were seated outdoors ... although when i spoke to the server, he claims that the area we were seated was air conditioned. the air con obviously is not working coz its so god damn hot and it did look like it was al fresco area.
anyway, another interesting thing about this place is several of their servers are very funny. they can literally 'bluff' or give u weird answers without blinking their eyes. i dun mean it in a criticizing way, we were honestly amused. like what i mentioned about the air con area... when we asked if we could be shifted into the air con area, the server in his straight face told me this is the air con area.
and when we feedback about the bad sofa seating arrangements, because the sofa are too low and there were no gaps at all between the sofa and the table for people to move in. we literally had to either jump out or push the tables all the way to the side to move out one by one.....
their reply to us was... this is to accommodate families... erm ya, i didnt say sofa is bad.. i just think the arrangements of leaving no gaps for the tables n the sofa was bad. people literally needed to be stick thin to crawl in. even my very skinny brother leonard had difficulty getting out.
but having said that, i still like Serenity for its food. its really good!
the omelette with potato thingy..
this is really yummy. i really like it. i like the texture and its taste!
and their grilled calamari...
grilled in olive oil. really good.
foie gras with beef...
this was not too bad. but i love foie gras in general so this cant be too bad. haha
and the parma ham...
tuna and prawn salad in red peppers...
this was good too!
cod fish cakes...
tasted like there was a bit of mashed potatoes inside...
it was not bad though i think ishan and joey liked it better than i did.
their speciality was paella....
i thot the paella was just ok. its quite expensive in my view.
we also ordered a foie gras with scrambled eggs but it came like this...
after one mouth, we were wondering where the foie gras is. we asked the server over and we checked...
Joey:" is this foie gras with scrambled egg? "
Server took a look and replied us with a straight face
Server: " yes this is"
Joey: " where is the foie gras? "
Server used the spoon and tossed the potatoes around and in his straight face... " this is potato and scrambled eggs "
at this point we all felt like laughing out loud! the server did not even appear apologetic for serving wrongly or answering wrongly. and he did it in such a straight face dat it was too funny to feel angry.
