Dean & Deluca

Dinner was with saphy and sharon over at Dean & Deluca...

we actually expected super long queues but not sure if its coz of the rain, there wasnt much of a crowd. and the funny thing was also, the patrons seemed to be 80% female. lots of groups of girlfriends hanging out.

a little browsing around while waiting for sharon and saphy to arrive...

my $9.50 sparkling water coz they didnt have a smaller bottle...

sadly, while i know there has been raves about Dean & Deluca, i didnt read up on whats good and whats not. So i end up ordering those items in the fridge (apparently, its their all day breakfast that's popular).

i had a steak....

which was forgettable. in fact, a bit overdone in my view.

mac and cheese that looks better before it was heated up...

taste could be stronger. too bland.

Saphy arrived and couldnt decide what to order either. she ended up with a chilli corn beef pie...

which was not bad to be honest except its pretty steep in pricing for a small lil pie like this...

but what was AWESOME was their iced chocolate....

super damn good!!

its so thick and you can taste bits of chocolate.. its soooooo good! Cost a whoooping $6.90 though.

and as a result of our not impressed reviews, when sharon arrived, we decided to change venue.

Tanyoto

after the games, we dropped Sasa off to st james for her round 2 while we headed over to Liang Court for Tanyoto. Meina saw my post on Tanyoto and wanted to check it out too.

today, we opted first for the tomato soup base and the tom yam....

i didnt try the tom yam soup base. the tomato soup is supposed to be one of their specialty. i found it not bad but i think i still prefer the clear soup.

subsequently, we also changed to the clear soup n preserved vegetable soup base (at a cost of $8.80 for a change of soup)....

i like their steamboat, yummy!

Charlotte Grace

Customised cupckaes from Charlotte Grace...

very lovely!

thank you Charlotte Grace for agreeing to take in my orders at such last minute request. The cupcakes were yummy! these are the double chocolate ones with chocolate oozing out. Meina and the rest who tried it later all agreed that its really yummy!

Happy Crab

arranged to celebrate Meina's birthday today. When i first wished her and asked her on what she'd like to eat, she told me she wants Happy Crab.

the happy crab!

very yummy and birthday girl loved it. particularly the roe! omg! again, so good we forgot to take pics of the super yummy (yet sinful) roe!

Paul

today is supposed to be a seafoodies meeting but squid is not in town, fishy is engaged with the new domestic helper, crabby was last minute down with fever so it was just clam with me.

our dinner venue, to cut the long story short, was changed and changed till eventually we decided to go wherever they had seats for us. to our surprise, Paul had many empty seats.

heard about Paul awhile back but never really had the chance to check it out. Never thought of checking it out soon also coz i hate queuing. But im guess the crowd probably decided to go queue at Dean & Deluca hence we got seats here!

lovely looking pastries....

we ordered a ham and cheese sandwich thingy to share....

it was not bad. but in my honest opinon, in a similiar respect, i'd much prefer Deli France's ham & cheese croissant!  haha

we also ordered a dessert to share. the server recommended the Napoleon classic....

it is apparently a popular classic. it was not bad. my type of dessert at least. the custard like cream in the middle was not too sweet. the layers of pastry on top was nicely crisp.

Chums

lunch with the nets boys. they kindly came over to toa payoh to do lunch with us. Gave them a choice of places and they chose Chums!

Does anyone miss sizzler or ponderosa? Chums is the same concept!

salad bars!

their tuna and potato salad, crab meat salad etc, yummy!

also love their greens, the beet root!

they also have those fried stuff like wedges, onion rings.

for mains, we effectively all end up ordering the PORK CHOP!! this is actually not our first visit. Previous visit, i tried some of Sonia's pork chop and its super bouncy! The kind that gets you craving for it!  So we recommended it to the boys....

their pork chop is a thick portion, bouncy, tender - YUMMY!

also great that their sides come with either fries, baked potato or butter rice.

Charlotte Grace

this came highly recommended by Squiddy....

located at toa payoh lorong 4, block 85c.

because many customised cake makers are popping up these days and its really hard to judge which one is good. they all typically would seem like they are very good coz most of them are really good with making the cakes look really good. but ever so often, those that look good, don't taste good. haha

so anyway, squiddy recommended this Charlotte Grace which happened to have a new shop over to Toa Payoh. Relatively near my office so i popped by to buy two off the shelves before deciding if i should order more for a couple of future occassions.

i got the red velvet and the double chocolate.

they were SO GOOD.

i remember saying that Jones the Grocer, has the best red velvet cake ever. Truth is all other red velvet cakes i've tried are just *bleah*.

But this one, this one was so damn good! its not too sweet yet it still has that unique red velvet taste. Nice! I shared it with eveline and she liked it too!

their double chocolate is also really really good. it has thick chocolate within that oozes out. the sweetness of the chocolate is just right.

i love it!

i still prefer my sword fish!

we also shared some beef cubes.. very tender, very yummy!

the cooking of our orders...

the garlic fried rice...

pretty good.

izzy had his first try of foie gras and i think he loves it too!

their beef cubes are soooo tender. soooo nice!

izzy had the chicken set...

Jones The Grocer

after our discussion and fact findings, i asked the guys if they would head over to Jones with me for dessert. i'm so lemming for the red velvet cake! think they have the BEST red velvet cake around and people whom i've introduced to them for the red velvet cake agrees with me!

red white red white, so matching with the NDP!!

and the guys' hot drinks...

Happy Birthday Singapore!
