Angelina

Been a super long while since I caught up with Bernard so we scheduled a dinner today!

Out of the list of probable suggestions I gave him, he chose Angelina. Actually I'm also not sure why I suggested Angelina in the first place. The thing that I really wanted to try from Angelina I have already tried it that day - the hot chocolate but I didn't like it. It felt a bit sour (or maybe not so sweet) to my liking. I think I much prefer the one from Antoinette. Also, I had already observed that they had a very very puny menu. But I guess maybe part of me still wants to give them a second chance.

So anyways we met up at Angelina! Oh one more thing to note, I don't really get why their operating hours are till 8.30 only. I mean, given their tiny food menu, the whole concept is probably more of a dessert place? If people do come by for dessert or coffee after dinner, wouldn't it be after 8.30pm? Hmm but den the dessert selection is actually also not much - ok, I just don't get it.

But they do have damn lovely settings! The kind that's pretty to take pictures of!

Food wise, we mostly went for the set meal that was going at $38.80++

It comes with choice of soup/salad, mains and a mini hot chocolate/coffee/tea

The soup of today was sweet potato smoked salmon soup...

Very unique when we heard it. Taste wise was ok. Didn't taste very much like sweet potato actually and the smoked salmon was literally just added in the center.

The salad was the saving grace thou! It's a delight to even look at it!

The colour of the greens and the red was very welcoming. That rectangle block in the middle was so divine! It's toast and the toast was fluffy thou thick! Above it is a piece of toasted cheese and the cheese is the kind that's strong in flavor ... omg! I love it!

For mains, we had option of either the chicken or truffle ravioli...

The truffle ravioli was decent but didn't leave a strong impression. Not something that I will want to be back for.

The chicken (missed out picture for that one) was not bad, though it was breast it was quite tender and bouncy.

Bunny didn't go for the meal, she opted for the steak...

She didn't like it at all. Hahaha she found it disappointing but I thought it was ok. The steak was can eat lor but I really loved that crispy thing at the top. It tasted like bacon chip! It was so damn good!

And finally, our hot chocolate....

Second chance still the same. I wonder why it looked so good on other people's social media. -.-

Mon Bijou

The seafoodies gathering today was proposed by yours truly to be at Mon Bijou! Glad that all of them loved the food offering thumbs up after!

I was tasked to order and needless to say I was spoilt for choice! Not that the menu was extensive but there were many items i wanted to introduce to the girls!

I ordered a garden mushroom pasta and a carbonara. When asked why I ordered 2 pastas in cream sauce, they understood after trying! Both were great! I was just torn between the two ....

Both were cream sauce based and were good for sharing.

The warm beef salad is also a must order! The beef slices were amazing topped with potato strips served above a bowl of spinach...

Starters of prawn twisters wrapped in popiah skin. The squid ink aioli was also great!

Last but not least, the girls perfectly understood what I meant when I said the French toast is a cannot don't order!

The French toast is soft and fluffy with sugar crystals. It's so divine!

What I'm sure is, the girls will be back on their own for this recommendation!

The food is amazing, the price is reasonable, service is great and the cushion seats are plushy and comfy!

Fika

A craving for chicken chop brought us here for a quick dinner.

The shrimp and egg deli open faced sandwich looked so good on the menu. Actually it looked as good when it arrived initially but sadly the shrimps were actually really dry. What a shame. If the shrimps were fresher or juicer I think this would really have been good!

The chicken chop however was amazing!

Crispy skin, juicy chicken and the sauce was savory, rich and good!

Herb crusted salmon...

The salmon was a little over done and the mashed potato was cold.

Overall the chicken chop was the best!

Wolf - Pasarbella Suntec City

A super quick lunch today at Pasarbella at Suntec City. Simply coz I was missing the chocolate milk shake from Wolf! It's crazy awesome! Thick and yummy!

The burger from this place is also pretty good!

Patties are served medium

The meat patty is juicy and tasty! So good!

Naughty Nuri

Dinner was over at Naughty Nuri and they didn't disappoint. First encountered Naughty Nuri when we first checked out Tap. The NN staffs were so helpful and friendly and they claimed their ribs were even better than Bali branch (woah!)

We ordered a platter to share...

Everything on the platter was good! From the corn to the potato to the satay to the ribs, everything!

And we also ordered a flying fish that I tried when I was in Jakarta. It's pretty good too! Right down to the fins it was crispy that u can the whole fish! Even the bones coz it's just so crispy!

Sambal kangkong...

Freaking spicy!

Angelina

Dinner night with Kerry and Purple, Angelina was newly added to our list of to-visit place. I saw pictures of their hot chocolate on social media and it was like MUST TRY!

Located at Capitol level one, Angelina is another beautiful cafe (think Antoinette)...

And because Angelina closes pretty early, like 8.30 or so, we decided to do desserts first prior to dinner at Naughty Nuri. The legendary hot chocolate....

That thick hot chocolate drives me crazy visually!

But sadly, it didn't taste like I thought it would. It's a bit sour so I'm kind of disappointed.

Goes well with whipped cream but still sour...

The salted caramel eclair was amazing thou!

The taste and texture were both on point!

Got these delightful sea grapes from Artbox previously!

Goes damn well with ponzu sauce! Love the crunch and how the bits pop!

Tuk Tuk Cha

It was an impromptu quick drinks after our swallowed down lunch. I thought it was just tea but JJ ordered toast too.

Best decision ever. Their toast is air fried yet so damn bloody good!

The toast is slightly sweet the texture was fluffy! It's amazing! The taro dip was also great!

Pretty authentic cha Yen!

Ice Cold Beer

Attended a talk with Kerry and it was around Cuppage. Somewhere, sometime this week, something reminded me that I haven't been to Ice Cold Beer for a long long while.

Missing their wings, fish and chips and four cheese pizza!

The fried chicken doesn't feel as good as before but it's still decent!

The four cheese pizza was thin and good in flavor...

Clearly this place isn't really the place for their age folks but ice cold beer was once the place for my era! Hahaha

The Skewer Bar

I've heard about the skewer bar from a few sources, where owners are friends of friends or how it's so near my place or how the menu has a tinge of creativity (at least for a Geylang kopitiam stall).

So we finally finally got down to checking it out today after we tried them at the Artbox last weekend....

We ordered some other items which I failed to capture but here's those I did...

The chicken thigh is wallet friendly at $4.50. They even have BBQ pineapple.

Bunny ordered a beer and the beer was so chilled she really loved it.

Service was great as well!

Everything was pretty good. My only pick is it's too hot for me else I think we will be back more often.

Gourmet Bar @ Novotel Mangga Dua (JAKARTA)

A last meal before flying back home! Decided to do it at the hotel itself where food should be cleaner when prepared.

Novotel is revamping their hotels to go for a more chirpy and vibrant look. And regionally (I think) they all have a Gourmet Bar serving burgers and some Asian local food! This cafe was having a promo offering 20% off of you post and tag them on social media.

I ordered a apple mojito mocktail....

Which was not just pretty but also refreshing!

Briyani chicken rice!

The rice was fragrant and yummy! The curry was buried and there wasn't enough sauce but it was good!

A delightful meal!

Seven Friday (Jakarta)

Today managed to head over to one of their better malls for dinner. Was surprised to see Seven Friday as a cafe so decided to give it a try!

The seven Friday cafe....

Iced lychee tea!

Yums! Lychee tea seems to be really popular around here.

Beef cheeks bowl...,

This is super yummy! The beef was tender and the sauce was amazing! Love the fact that the sauce is saltish and flavourful!

Mac and cheek....

The mac and cheese was good though the cheek was not impressive.

Say Chuzu Hokkaido Cheese Toast (Bangkok)

One of the booths for one of their food fair at the basement of siam paragon....

Toasted bread with melted cheese!

Looks legit!

Look at that pull! They have it in 3 flavours. Original, charcoal cheese and chocolate. I opted for the original....

Indeed very cheesy. Not bad except the cheese wasn't savory enough for my liking. The toast was great but if only the cheese was a little more savoury and flavourful!

But overall still worth a try!
