Greyhound Cafe (Bangkok)

We actually cannot remember why we liked greyhound. Sorry, I meant it more of we can't recall what items we like from greyhound but we just remember we really like the food here.

And to be specific, it's the greyhound at Siam centre, not the one at Siam paragon. We remember because during our previous trip here, we tried to revisit greyhound on our last night and instead of heading back to the one at Siam centre, we visited the one at Siam paragon instead. The menu was different and we vividly remember how we were sort of already in a bad argument and the not yummy food didn't help! Haha

So anyway, we made it a point to revisit the Siam centre one. It is located at level 3 of Siam centre.

I'm actually quite excited to blog about this - I usually am when the food tastes so good!

As we sat down, this table insert instantly called out to bunny....

Hoptails! There I was thinking it's another flavour of alcohol but it arrived after she ordered it, it was soooo good! And it's actually a mixture of beer and other stuff. A partnership between Greyhound and Heineken!

So the one she ordered is the iced tea with beer. The tea is earl gray tea with tea iced cubes and lime ice cube and lemon peel.

The earl gray tea taste wasn't strong but overall the tea blended very very well with the beer. The tinge of lime also worked very well in this concoction!

I rarely will help myself to her alcoholic drink but I found myself doing it many times today! Plus, you can keep topping up the beer from the bottle they give u so the drink feels like it's never ending!

Such creativity cheers me up!

And as I mentioned earlier, we initially couldn't recall what we liked here but once we flipped through the menu, we remembered it is this....

Omg! This is so good! It's the crab meat spaghetti! It's just like a crab bisque stock, thick flavourful crab bisque with spaghetti! The doneness of the spag was also just right! We so loved it! And I think we will be back again for this!

We also ordered another pasta, pesto with scallop...

This was also awesome! The pesto was fragrant! We loved it!

We loved both the pasta so much we couldn't decide which we liked better.  Both pasta had that punch! Bunny said this... " both pastas packed a punch that we got thoroughly knocked out! "

Ending off the meal is one of my fav dessert from greyhound...

It's a combination of coconut ice cream, coconut, chestnut and sago!

Love it! Similar to red ruby but in blue!

Audrey Cafe (Bangkok)

Audrey cafe was recommended to me by Bree for their milk tea crepe and I'm glad they have an outlet at Siam centre! Located at level 4!

In fact, to a certain extent, this is one of the food place in our food list this time round that I anticipate about the most!

Love the decor!

For drinks, we ordered a freeze and a coffee....

The blue freeze is called Audrey on my mind ($110 baht), said to be made up of pineapple juice but I seem to taste a bit of lychee too. Overall it's quite sweet but it's quite good. Add a bit of water on your own to mix it a bit to be less sweet will be good!

The coffee was Cafe Audrey ($145 baht). It quite pretty and taste pretty good. Pretty fragrant!

For starters, we had a say cheese ($130 baht) It's actually a mash Potato ball like thingy with Parmesan cheese on top.

The side dip is like some cheddar sauce. It's pretty good!

We also ordered a crab soufflé served with lobster brandy sauce ($320 baht). This is how it was served ....

The soufflé was so tall! Below it was some crab meat in a mild crab bisque taste. The left side is concentrated lobster bisque. Very good! Very flavourful!

I will say the soufflé is very gimmicky, a bit like eating air. Haha

But the bisque is really good!

We also ordered the crispy pork cubes ($390 baht) which were recommended.

The inside of it was like pulled pork...

I wasn't impressed but bunny really liked it.

And of course, the Thai milk tea crepe ($110 baht)...

Maybe our expectations were too high or we already had some perception how it should be like, we were really impressed by this. The crepe had a flour taste and if we compared it to Malacca's Nadeje, we felt that Nadeje's one is better though w/o that sauce.

Not saying that this one at Audrey is not good. Just that it fell short of its rave.

Singapore Airlines

Today's inflight meal was option of chicken with noodles or bbq pork with potato.

Starters was pasta salad with ham.

Decent.

The chicken with noodles turned out to be hor fun like noodles. Chicken was breast meat, semi salted. A rather oriental taste of the fish sauce taste.

Not what I will define as nice nice but can eat la.

The bbq pork when cutting it, felt super tough but taste actually quite ok. The texture was slightly bouncy so was pretty good.

Dessert was a caramel pudding like item in a pretty shell shape. Bunny really liked it.

Overall the meal was can eat but nowhere near the past SQ standards.

Additionally, the stewardess who served us actually rolled her eyes at us when we asked for ice cubes to go with our drinks.

What kind of standards have SQ got to?

Seng's Noodle Bar

Been seeing pictures of this place on social media so decided to give it a try!

Located along Amoy street!

We had expected their wanton noodles to be their speciality but turns out they sell it separately.

The noodles are at $1 per bowl. A very small puny portion but it is very good!

It is nicely seasoned and I will come back for the noodles for sure!

But aside from the noodles, the rest of the items were really just mediocre. Can eat but not super impressed.

There was pork belly...

Aburi pork belly...

The pork belly was rather thinly sliced and there wasn't much a charred flavour on the sides. Could have been better.

The roast pork belly...

The roast pork is missable. The skin while slightly crispy, wasn't that crispy resulting in it being a bit gluey. The meat was decent but not impressive.

The fried dumpling...

Comes with some slight chilli sauce which we didn't like. But very likely it's just us Coz we aren't chilli takers. Maybe u might like it might better than me!

The soup wanton...

Like the soup one much better.

Also ordered a salted egg fried chicken wings to share...

Salted egg lovers might like it. I didn't very much fancy it actually.

Overall, I think I will be back but just for the noodles.

Good to know they have a promotion with amex, 1 for 1 for cocktails!

Char Casual Dining

It was a sudden recommendation by a colleague during our meeting and before we knew it, we came over for lunch!

Located along Jalan besar, they are apparently popular for their fatty char Siew and roast pork!

Because it's a last minute arrangement, I didn't have the chance to grab my camera. So photos from this entry are taken using my iphone6.

The signature char Siew...

It's the canton paradise kind of char Siew!

Thick, sweet and fatty!

If u ask me, this is better than canton's though. It tastes much softer despite it being fatty.

We also had the roast pork...

Which was also pretty good!

There were a few other dishes which were not bad but because it was sort of like a work lunch, I didn't take much pictures!

But a nice place worth coming back again!

Stellar Popcorn

I got quite excited when I saw these at the Orchard Isetan supermarket some weeks ago...

Immediately I grabbed 4 packs.

Gave one to my friend and of them I have since tried the ham flavour. Which didn't taste much like ham but yeah the flavour was ok.

The Parmesan cheese one sadly tasted more sweet than salty or cheesey. I would have liked if it really tastes like Parmesan cheese!

Darling Harbour Restaurant

What was supposed to be a simple supper meal turned out to be a seafood feast of sorts along Geylang lorong 6. Apparently a newly start up restaurant with the Taiwanese celebrity Xu Nai Lin as a shareholder...

Not sure why they state to be Aussie style Coz all the dishes were just very local and very Chinese.

We opted for a $98++ 2 pax set. Includes a veg, a fish, a herbal prawn and a roast meat sampler.

Overall, the items were pretty alright. Pricing was also alright for the portion and the items.

But our backside itchy, the lady boss offered us a promotion for the lobster so we took it. $48 for a lobster instead of the usual $98. $58 if it's for a slightly bigger one.

We took two!

One cooked in salt and pepper...

Another in sashimi...

I have actually been dying to try lobster sashimi, finally got to try it today. I like the texture. The sweetness from the fresh lobster was good.

Not exactly sure if we really got a good price but the food was overall decent.

A little heart pain to spend so much for a random late dinner thou! Haha

But happy with the company of good friends!

Long Beach King

We were hosting dinner for our friends from Aussie!

Ordered 3 crabs to let them try the different local flavours:

Black pepper...

They loved this! I also liked it though it was oh so spicy!

The chilli crab...

I personally preferred the one from No Signboard as No Signboard one is slightly sweeter. This one the sauce is spicier and the bun is not sweeten. But some of them prefer the chilli crab from here better than No Signboard.

The 3rd crab is this white pepper one...

Instead of the Sri Lanka crab, the snow crab is used. The guests liked this too. I only tried the sauce, it's much less spicy compared to the black pepper one but the black pepper one feels more Shiok in my view.

There was also the geo duck...

Crunchy and sweet seafood taste! Comes with a hot pot of soup for those who wants to cook it instead of going the sashimi way. Yummy!

Spicy clam soup...

Spicy but very Shiok!

The captain upon seeing that we had overseas guests, made the dessert a bit special for us....

Glutinous rice with ice cream. Good that it's not too sweet, I love it!
