The Chophouse

After massage at 112 Katong, the chophouse seems to be the most promising place to check out within the building.

Most of the familiar food places there have actually seemed to all close down.

For starters, we shared a burrata...

The burrata here is not as flavorful but overall it's decent. What's really nice is its basil pesto sauce! Slightly saltish, very flavorful and goes very well with the burrata.

While waiting for our mains to come, I saw many burgers being prepared....

I ordered a steak for my mains while bunny ordered a pasta.

That's when I told bunny:" hmm a lot of people order burger hor? "

Bunny replied:" are u regretting your decision now?"

and I told bunny... " no, I'm regretting yours " hahahahaha

So yeah, my steak....

Done just right! Love the sides where it's lightly salted!

I probably shouldn't have gone for the ribeye Coz there really are a few parts that were too fatty.

Bunny's carbonara...

The carbonara is a big portion to a certain extent. Found it just decent.

We also shared sides....

The truffle potato salad is interesting with a lot of onions. Not bad.

The Mac and cheese pasta is mediocre

Ember

Been a long while since I visited Ember. In fact, I was greatly disappointed to know that Ember shut down. Was super happy to know they reopened.

Headed down for lunch to realise the lunch menu has changed. Also realised that the original chef is also not around any more - anyone who knows where chef Sebastian went, please do share the information! Very disappointed Coz I super miss the sea bass and the coconut pana cotta. Both super good!

Decided to still stay on to try the lunch here.

Opted for the 2 course set lunch at $29.90++.

Comes with choice of mains and starter.

The complimentary bread...

Served warm but took awhile to come. Cost $2 if you want another piece of it.

It's pretty good, has a bit of a (I think) sundried tomato taste.

Bel chose the caviar soup...

Which was ok.

I topped up a $5 for foie gras...

The foie gras was good. Decent size and topped with green apple slices and some peanut thingy.

For mains, bel had the duck confit...

The duck confit was awesome! The skin was crispy and the duck was tender. The duck leg was resting on a bed of mashed potato. Yummy!

And for my mains, I topped up a $10 for the beef...

The beef was awesome as well. It was tender and juicy with a good amount of fats.

Portion is decent for most, a bit little for me esp since it didn't exactly come with starch, only mushrooms which were really good.

Overall, food is good, keeping up with the past Ember standards. But I guess u really miss the old menu. Again, those who know where chef Sebastian went, do let me know!

Also, service was a little less than satisfactory. The old staffs were much more friendly and welcoming.

My Briyani House

We were at Kallang Wave to shop at the Daiso so we decided to do dinner here as well. My Briyani House...

Shared a huge masala thosai..

Which was ok but the one at simpang Bedok was much nicer!

Chicken briyani..

Also decent.

Akashabu

Fellicia decided for shabu shabu so we had dinner at Akashabu!

But I'm not a sukiyaki soup base lover, I found the soup broth too sweet for my liking so I didn't really try the shabu shabu.

I went to indulge in the sashimi instead!

The mackerel and sweet shrimp are two of my favorites. The ones today are fresh and sweet. The mackerel in general is in fact slightly fatty. Very good!

I also had a chilled udon...

This is also good. Like the one at the sushi bar. But again I find the soya sauce a little sweet.

The aburi salmon...

Overall I like the sashimi they have here though I find their pricing a bit perplexed. The price for a tori karage is $16? Yet don is probably lesser.

Foodpanda voucher codes with ShopBack

With my current office located at a can't-say-ulu but definitely-not-much-options place, i am officially already very sick of the food at the market nearby. Plus, its a short walk and weather in SG these days don't help.

Delivery becomes my next best friend. Usually the easiest option will be Mac but that gets damn boring damn quickly too. So Food Panda obviously becomes the next top on my list. So when i got invited to review the site and also know about how to get Food Panda voucher codes, i was quite excited and eager to know what it is about.

So apparently, ShopBack allows you to register and earn cashback (or more commonly known as cash rebates) off your expenditure with their participating merchants - which means getting to enjoy FoodPanda discounts! That's not all, you can also find all the best dining deals at ShopBack too! Food panda being one of them!

I immediately registered myself and the exciting thing is, not only is FoodPanda on it, many of the other online shops i patronise are also on it!

I found that i can get savings with RedMart coupons if i decide to buy ingredients to cook dishes myself to add to my #juneoesquekitchen list... or i can make Bunny cook for me!

Frequent dining out is definitely taxing on the pockets so i do also get coupons time to time from Groupon or deals! So it was great that ShopBack links Groupon as a merchant which means I can enjoy cashback with the many Groupon deals!

If you are the kind who enjoys travelling, you can go on a culinary journey with the best travel deals and offers as well!

The above are just to name a few.

There are also shopping ones like ASOS, shop bop, zalora!

Rocku

It was a gathering with the lions and a random decision to do it at RockU.

Prices are at $29.90 per pax and a $5 top up if you want wagyu. The normal price is good enuff thou if you ask me.

As I entered, I was very surprised to see that they have this live singing station.

Normally, it would probably have been a good feature but given we are here to gather, catch up and all, the singing proved to be too loud and a hindrance to conversations. Nonetheless, a nice feature to have.

Didn't take much pictures of the food as we were busy catching up but will definitely be back. The price and the spread is pretty good!

Grain

I know I have a $15 credit from Grain since last year that I haven't had the chance to utilize. With the hot weather and workload, it's the perfect opportunity to utilize for a lunch in.

Note: you can also get a $5 credit if you sign up through my code below!

https://grain.com.sg/signup?coupon=RF17337

So anyway, i found out how they function - there's typically 4 mains per week to choose from. Last week's one didn't appeal to me but this week's one looks ok!

I ordered a salmon and pasta (around $12.90)

I actually quite like it. Salmon doneness was alright with pasta that was nicely flavoured with mayo like sauce (yet like not mayo). The greens is very yummy and goes very well with the pasta!

And I also had the beef stew (around $12.90)

The beef stew was also good. I mean, for a lunch in standard, the beef was soft and the flavour was rich. The veg was good too! Sweet carrots!

Overall, a swift but delicious lunch.

Delivery was a costly $9.50 though. So the whole meal came up to $30 odd but luckily I had the $15 off.

Probably more worth it if colleagues order together and split the delivery cost.

Nude Seafood

Missing their pork chop so I suggested our dinner to be here!

Business was apparently so good that they were running low on food. But good on them to call us to let us preorder so that we can still get what we want to eat!

Saphy ordered the Barramundi...

I didn't try the fish but the pasta on the side was really good!

Phyllis and myself had a pork chop each...

I really really love their pork chop! It's thick cut and really tender! With distinct fatty areas (which are oh so good too!)

We also had a salmon to share...

Salmon was nicely done as well.

Another thing that makes me want to be back, is this raisin pastry...

It is oh so good! I actually will miss it. It's soft biscuit like top layer with raisin and some cream in between. Very yummy!

Saphy also ordered the pudding ...

Comparing it to Paris baguette, Saphy said she likes the one at Paris baguette better.

With effect from mid April, they are going to start introducing a dinner menu. Can't wait to be back to try it!

Bedrock

Set lunch at the Bedrock. 3 course comprising of starter, mains and dessert at $55 (I think).

For starter, I went for the cured salmon cubes!

There's this thing about salmon in cubes that I adore. Haha. Taste wise, it's decent.

For the mains, I opted for the ribeye with mushrooms and changed it the mushrooms to the creamed spinach...

The ribeye was pretty good! Done medium rare and to be honest I think I prefer it to the tomahawk we had the last time!

The creamed spinach was also good. If I compare it to lawrys, this is much better.

In view of my sugar free diet, I opted out for the dessert.

We did also order sides to share and of course must order the Mac and cheese!

I still declare, the Mac and cheese here is still the best I ever had! Their Mac and cheese rocks!!

The rest also ordered a sweet potato dish...

This is also pretty good, similar to the Mac and cheese!

Overall, a hearty lunch! I believe I will be back for lunch again pretty soon!

MOF

Lunch at MOF!

Set lunch!

Comes with chawanmushi, miso soup and edamame ...

Also given the option to top up with the octopus...

For mains, Winnie had some scrambled egg rice with beef...

Decent.

For myself, I opted for the chilled barashi ramen..

I would say it's decent. The sauce was tangy and there was a good amount of sashimi. The noodles were ok though not as springy as I hoped. But overall decent.

Keisuke Kani King

Gyoza ya at Robinsons was not open hence we headed over to Cineleisure where our movie was.

Noticed there was a crab stock ramen place at level one so we decided to try it out (even thou I just had ramen of another broth from this joint yday).

Like its every other joint, they offer this seasoned bean sprouts as a starter (free flow!) and I love it! It's yummy!

And the menu for ramen shops of this joint is typically simple and easy. There's a main broth and different outlets are typically the same. Some outlets do have cross broths too. For this one, being Kani King, it's crab broth!

Bunny and my mum had the clear soup...

The clear soup broth was not bad. A nice crab flavour.

My helper being an egg lover, went for this...

As for me, I went for the thick broth...

Which is in comparison a lot more flavorful than the clear broth.

What I like about this joint is they always allow options to the flavour of the soup (light, normal or strong) and texture of noodles to be soft, normal or hard. I like mine very hard actually!

Cajun King

Dinner at Cajun King - because they are closing down!

If you haven't heard, Cajun King is officially closing down by end of this month and because of an unfulfilled promise by Dice to ken, we all got a free treat!

My only prior visit to Cajun about 2-3 years back leaves me missing their calamari much. So upon my return, I very much wanted to order that! Sadly, they have since Duno when took the item off their menu.

The service today was great. I must say the lady who served us was very informative and friendly.

For starters, we ordered the tater tots with some crayfish and cheese and hot sauce...

I really like tater tots in general. But I really dun like hot sauce. So I much avoided the top parts. Which is quite silly Coz the tater tots are so much cheaper on its own. Haha

So we ordered 2 combo bags, in different sauces - the spicy and the garlic butter.

The spicy sauce...

Sorry for the bad photography! My girlfriend refused to let me pour it out.

Well the bags included Alaskan crab, prawns, corn, mussels or clams with sausages.

Overall the bags are not bad but if I were to compare, I much prefer dancing crab. For they use more of Sri Lanka crab that is fatter and I like their flavours better.

The sausages are not bad! I had the most of that since I was not in the get my hands dirty mood. Haha

Fries!

We had the normal fries and the sweet potato fries...

Not much of a fries or sweet potato fries person but bunny said it's pretty good.

And we also ordered a fried bun to dip the sauce in..

I think, Chinese restaurants fried man tou is much nicer!

Maccha House

I chanced upon their monthly promo menu for this month yesterday and was intrigued by their maccha rice!

Had to come back to try it!

They have option of pork or salmon and I opted for the triple salmon - raw salmon, aburi salmon and the ball is probably some salmon ball but I can only taste the potato...

The rice....

The aburi salmon was not very aburi. Haha it was quite well cooked.

The green tea rice is special. Not bad in my view!

But it's probably something good to try once but won't crave to revisit.

We also ordered the mentaiko udon...

Ordered this Coz I miss a chilled sesame udon from the nana green tea place at
Plaza Singapura - but sadly they discontinued it off their menu.

So anyway, this one here is ok but it's warm. Served with bacon. I will prefer it chilled thou!

Bunny ordered the soba...

Sweet based, decent.
