Paradise Dynasty
arranged with ah yee to bring our mummies out for a meal. decided on ion's paradise dynasty to let them try the 7 colours xiao long bao.
we had a drunken chicken...
assorted eggs thingy...
the assorted eggs thingy taste like something my mum can make at home. haha
eggs...
they were obviously overdone.
we asked for a replacement...
they gave us not so overdone.. but still overdone ones! in the end, they agreed to remove the item from the bill for us. i do not agree with places who got the things done wrong yet still proceed to serve it.
jelly fish...
their jelly fish was pretty good!
and the 7 colours xiao long bao....
one tray for mum, one for ah yee, one for jim poh!
at the end of it all, mum and jim poh likes the crab one. ah yee likes the original one. jim poh also likes the foie gras one.
the foie gras one for me and popoji (ah yee's helper.. i know, so cute the name!!) to share...
fried fish fillet...
hong you chao shou...
chives dumplings...
cong you bing...
not what i like but something joelle likes so i ordered for them to try. they agreed the skin is very nice.

Where's the best scrambled eggs in Singapore?
I was having the cravings for Hong Kong's Australian Milk Co.'s scrambled eggs today and i realised there really isn't an equavalent here (in my view) of such a simple item.
Maybe i just don't know better.
So i'd like to gather recommendations here. Please let me know where you've tasted really GOOD scrambled eggs here in Singapore! Thank you!

Mooshi Bakes
after dinner, we walked a down little and headed to Mooshi Bakes....
i've always passed by this place but never patronised. it always did look packed with people.
Joey pretty highly recommended their cream puffs...
note never to discuss about what's good over the counter until you've ordered. Because its partly because we were discussing to say what was good, just as we ordered, another couple who overheard, decided to also order and pay at the cashier while we ordered at the counter. so as a result, from 7 cream puffs, we were left with only 3.
but yes, the cream puffs were really good though the ordering part was a little annoying coz the cashier shouted over and cut our orders from 7 to 6 to 3 when the counter guy was getting ready to pack our order.
Katong Shopping Centre Chicken Rice
we headed over to katong shopping centre for chicken rice...
this is a famous stall. there was a queue at dinner time!
it was pretty good. even the breast meat was not dry. i like the sauce drizzled on the rice.
the soup was also nice.

Dozo
after work, we arranged to meet up to celebrate chit loong's birthday. he chose the place Dozo and i'm glad he did! Heard about the place for ages but never got down to heading down. I know this place is the same management as Tao's Restaurant but a slightly upmarket one.
according to chit loong, his friend who patronise here quite regularly gave good reviews and that a lot of ministers patronise this place.
because we made reservations for 7 pax, they gave us a private room (for free!!).. i like this place already!!
chit loong and i got there first. We were served this snacker while waiting for the rest to arrive. if i remember correctly, they said this is fried soba. the orange ones are pretty good!
xiuling and ho guan arrived subsequently. Meiling and janice couldnt make it and stephanie will arrive later so we started off first.
first, we were offered this sour plum sorbet to cleanse our palate...
this restaurant works the same way as Tao Restaurant. They give you a set menu with a few items on each different course. Over here, its $59.80++ for their 7 course dinner set.
first course is the Starter....
there isn't a choice for the starter. everyone gets a chef's seasonal assorted platter.
today's one consists of smoked salmon, scallop and foie gras....
they were GOOD!! after this first course, i was hopeful towards the subsequent courses!
next course is the cold dish. we tried to order different things so we could share and get a taste of more things....
all the items were pretty good!
special attention given to the beef tataki....
its awesome!! the beef slices have a tinge of truffle taste because of the mayo. damn good!
next course is the side dish....
again, all fairly good particularly the foie gras chawanmushi!!!!
its damn good la!!
the foie gras taste has that oomph on the chawanmushi. YUMMY!!
next up is the soup!
the clam soup is bad. too bland.
the truffle mushroom soup, i didnt get to try.
the beef consomme is SOOOOO GOOOD. really! chit loong and i loved it.
my crab bisque was also yummy!
by this time, stephanie has also arrived to join us and has caught up with the courses.
for mains, chit loong had the chicken...
and he chose it mainly because of the foie gras! haha
their foie gras is a little dry in my view. but still good.
the chicken thigh is cut quite uniquely in a rectangular shape. its tender but somehow you can't really taste the chicken taste.
ho guan had the pork...
its really tender and pretty good.
i had the beef tenderloin...
most interesting because of the way its served. we joked about whether the little pebbles can be eaten too. haha.. the beef tenderloin is tender and not bad.
stephanie's sushi platter...
decent sushi but not what i would choose.
xiuling's cod fish...
pretty good!
next course is the drinks...
just like tao restaurant, they have very interesting drinks which are fruity. i like my iced mallow apple melody.
final course is the desserts...
nice baked warm chocolate cake.
nice espresso creme brulee...
they missed out chit loong's japanese red bean cake so they replaced it with some raspberry mousse with cream...
it taste pretty good coz its got those chocolate pearls amidst the cream. yummy!
and when i called to make the reservations, they asked if it was any special occassion. i told them we are celebrating a birthday of Chit Loong and they came in with a surprise for Chit Loong....
this is what i call good service! and the servers were very helpful with the phototaking for us! they would even go several angles to help with the pictures. Thumbs up for service!
Wild Honey
i have been having cravings for scrambled eggs (the holy shit kickass Australian Dairy Co. one) since i came back from Hong Kong. I have been asking around but other than Mcdonald's big breakfast's scrambled eggs, i dont seem to have much good recommendations for it.
after a joint appointment with Becky, i told her of my cravings and she recommended checking out Wild Honey. And Wild Honey has a new outlet over at Scotts Square so we headed down...
this outlet is a lot brighter than the one at Mandarin Gallery. I much prefer it.
they serve all day breakfast in different country styles. I went through the list and they do have scrambled eggs in a number of items on their list and in fact they claim the scrambled eggs are done differently.
I chose Gallic ....
the menu says its a simple but classic dish of creamy scrambled eggs made the french way with their signature brioche and vine ripened pearl tomato. i can't remember if its $18 or $28. But either the price, its stilll mad expensive for two pieces of bread with some eggs and tomato.
the brioche is a thick nice piece of bread but yeah im not a bread person. I did like Food For Thought's brioche though (coz it taste a bit like bread, a bit like cake, so its special in my view). this one just taste like thick toast, a pretty one.
the scrambled eggs were indeed creamy but not wow-ing in my humble opinon. Its a little too light in taste yet pretty creamy. i think i would like it if it was a little more salty.
and coz i felt i needed meat, i topped up sides of pork sausages (i think its $5) and smoked salmon ($10!!!)....
portions were decent for the side orders. Luckily i had becky to share them with me.
becky chose the Norwegian...
its avocado, grilled asparagus spears, two perfectly poached eggs wrapped with imported norwegian smoked salmon, homemade hollandaise sauce and salmon pearls on whole wheat brioche.
before becky's item arrived, she was anxiously looking around at the dishes on other patrons table and commenting.. " how come everytime other people's orders look better? "
hahaha.. but i think when hers arrived, she was happy with what she saw....
hers did look very delectable! the poached eggs were done just right and goes well with the hollandaise sauce. i know coz becky let me try one!
while the norwegian was nice, it was $26!!
this place is really expensive!!
but i think its a nice place for some girly gatherings and if you actually share the cost as a slightly bigger group, its probably not as costly.

Jia Xiang Sarawak Kolo Mee
after the movie, we headed for kolo noodles. he had smoked duck noodles...
the smoked duck is not bad.
i tried their curry chicken noodles...
the curry was not bad. noodles are very Q. the potatoes are really good, the white coloured kind! the chicken is drumstick meat!
and a bowl of wanton...
the wanton is ok but i think the pontian's one is better.

Spizza
we landed up at spizza!
check out their passionfruit chiller...
comes with big lumps of passionfruit and the seeds are so good to bite!
and yes, kaizhi has to have wings tonight!
i'd say their wings are not too bad. eat-able. but not the kind where u will think its awesome that u'd crave for more.
when camilia and elrin arrived, we ordered more food for sharing...
the calamari is not bad. very light batter.
carbonara....
the carbonara is pretty good! comfort food.
parma ham and rockets salad....
very thin crust and good amount of rockets and parma. yummy!
tiramisu...
decent tiramisu but of course cannot beat da paolo's! haha
