Novus

after work, i went over to Novus for dinner with Cynthia...



she was late so i took seats first. the place is very quiet tonight. probably less den 3 tables and totally romantic to come with a loved one. =)

its quite funny when i saw the menu, the instincts developed from overplaying the 'Restaurant City' application on fb simply got me thinking of the ingredients that are required for the lobster bisque soup. " lobster, lemon and butter ", i thought to myself. haha

when cynthia came, i shared the joke with her and she was telling me how when she with for lunch today wif ferlyn n shujun and the servers were ignoring them when they tried to ask the server for something, the girls commented... " she is just like the server from restaurant city.. can only do one thing at a time one "

haahha.. so u probably can tell how hooked we are on the game. haha

when cynthia arrived and we ordered, we were first served a basket of bread...



i think the bread wasnt fantastic and the olive oil didnt come with vinegar.. i would haf preferred the type that comes with vinegar.

initially i thot was just a simple dinner and catching up but cynthia said this can be my birthday treat. she only told me when bill came... should haf told me earlier right.. den i can order the more expensive items! haha.. im kidding!

we were first served a complimentary started. it was some octopus salad kinda...



not too bad..

cynthia ordered a lychee martini....



we both had a lobster bisque soup....



the soup was ok.. not very thick. but the lobster cubes were really delicate!

see how they are packed into little bite sized like dumplings...



while the soup was not bad, it not one of my favourite lobster bisque.

we were also highly recommended the tuna carpaccio...



it has got rockets on the side and pinenuts. the tuna was very finely sliced and tasted really good.

for mains, i had the white truffles linguine.. its display is so cute!





the egg is a half boiled egg....



i think this is my first time having truffle. it was pretty ok but tasted a bit gerlard after awhile.

cynthia went for the gnocchi....



comes with salad..



cynthia commented dat it tasted like tang yuan. hahaa...i think it tastes is pretty good. the cream sauce is nice.

was feeling too full for desserts but cynthia wanted to try their apple strudel...



im not really a strudel person ... but i really dun think its fantastic.

Marks & Spencer Cafe

we went for tea at the marks and spencers cafe.

i like the colour combi of the flowers on the table...



although its just fake flowers but i think its quite pretty.

and even though i told him i don't want to eat, he surprised me biscuits....



sweet lovely thots i'd say. and although i usually find biscuits very dry, all the trio he picked were really nice. the chocolate one was surprisingly a bit like the digestives biscuits dat i like. and the white cream one was pretty special! it was like some white chocolate wif traces of jam in the middle. and of coz there is the blackcurrrent one i like.

tea for the pianist and his princess....



the iced tea was ok but the chocolate was not good.

Novus

Shan & Joey brought us over to the museum and there really is a diner here! Its called Novus....



Novus does have a good menu. i'd wana come back for dinner one day.

but what drew us was really these 2 .....



their singing was beautiful! really.. pieces after pieces they sang, their voices were so melodic.. simply enchanting.

one of the songs they sang was Time In A Bottle.

its my first time hearing this song and i fell in love with it almost immediately. i think the lady's voice had a part to do with it. i tried to go online to search for the song but its typically sang by the original singer who is a man. i didnt really like it as much. i yearn to hear her sing this piece again.

the place itself was really alluring to me...

Joseph and i made our way over to Breko.....



his pork steak...



its funny how despite it being a deep fried item, the staff asked him for doneness. haha

my sirloin steak which they got the doneness wrong but it was still not too bad...



but den again, maybe i was just too hungry..

Timbre

after work, we headed over to Timbre at Empress Place for the seafoodies may 09 gathering.....



fishy and tawi were already there and they ordered calamari to share...



the calamari, not very nice. cant really taste the texture of the squid. too much bread crumbs batter.

we ordered one hawaiian pizza to share as well...



Their pizza is really thin, not too bad.

we had 2 pizza in fact. pepporoni pizza is the pizza of the day, a happy hour promotion, a bottle of mumm champagne with pizza of the day is $100 nett.

Seafood Paradise

Dinner was at the Seafood Paradise at the flyer's level 1....




we shared a soup....



the server recommended some apple soup...



was really pretty good. though my mum's soup is better. haha

bamboo clams....



not too bad, cooked in garlic.

salted egg prawns...



yummy! though its a bit dry.

3 eggs spinach...



not bad but not wowing.

crispy roast chicken...



nice.

seafood beancurd....



YUM. very nice. very smooth tofu... i like!

and the cream sauce crab...



one of their speciality dishes which i specially brought mum to try. was really quite nice.. the cream sauce is quite special and good to eat with man tou as well.
