Szechuan Court

Szechuan Court....

the entrance...

the interior...

the groundnuts and preserved vegetables...

we ordered a set meal which costs $220 for 5 person. Its a 7 course meal comprising of Barbecued and roasted meat combination, Braised shark's fin with dried seafood in supreme broth, Braised marble goby with whole garlic, Deep fried scallops served with deep fried golden mushroom and pan fried champagne pork ribs, Braised Ee-fu noodles with crab meat and dessert of the day.

We also asked to order and additional jelly fish ($12)....

The jelly fish is a little spicy but its not very nice. Overall, ah yee agrees wif me that Koo Kee's jelly fish is the nicest and surprisingly, the cheapest! The price of a plate of jelly fish here is equivalent to probably 4 plates at Koo Kee.

and u koe what, our Barbecued and roasted meat combination actually also comes with jelly fish....

actually, we would have appreciated it if the server actually bothered to inform us about it when we later added on the seperate order of the jelly fish... especially since the jelly fish was so expensive and didnt really taste great.

The chicken and the char siew was prettty normal.. the duck was not bad.

next up was the Braised shark's fin with dried seafood in supreme broth...

The sharks fins was pretty good. I didnt add vinegar and still found it tasty.

The Braised marble goby with whole garlic was not available so they offered to replace it with some duno what red duno wat (apparenty some fish thats more expensive den marble goby) .. but i didnt like the name of that fish so they offered us cod fish. We were given the option of it being steamed or fried. We chose the steamed version. Each of us were given a portion...

the cod fish was not bad. I think its very hard to go wrong wif cod fish.

Den was the Deep fried scallops served with deep fried golden mushroom and pan fried champagne pork ribs...

the pork ribs....

the ribs was quite tender (not very, just quite) and taste was ok to me, pretty good to uncle sq.

The deep fried golden mushroom with scallops...

a closer up view...

couldnt quite taste the golden mushroom but the scallop was not bad.

den it was the Braised Ee-fu noodles ...

which was very normal ee-fu noodles. Very average. and by this time we were all pretty full (most probably coz of the donuts earlier).

Dessert of the day was honey dew sago....

Tastes very average.

As a couple of us didnt want mango sago, we were offered a replacement of pumpkin with waterchestnut...

mum didnt like it but the rest of us found it pretty ok.

And we ordered Gok Poh (a type of chinese tea) and realised it cost $14 a pot (kill people set fire ah!!). If u ever go, be nice to ur wallet and just drink iced water.
