Basil Alcove

an appointment of mine was at fortune centre so eileen and i did lunch at Basil Alcove and i managed to catch up a bit with Xander.

His Caesar salad is still as top notch as ever!

its fresh and has lotsa ingredients! bacon, cheese, croutons!

complimentary from Xander is the their truffle mushroom soup...

its really really thick. would be good if the truffle taste was stronger. haha

eileen had a mushroom and bacon cream sauce pasta..

it was yummy!

shrimp cocktail at only $4.90...

i quite like the salsa tomatoes inside.

as for myself, i had my aglio olio...

it was good too. would haf liked it better if it was a little more salty.

La Villa

we headed to La Villa....

complimentary bread....

they were having a bbq buffet. comes with corn, broccoli and fries...

the broccoli was really good but the corn had cinnamon on it. i didnt like it. fries was saltish-ly good!

the bbq items....

the sausage was not bad. the rest were ok. had to request for them not to overcook the items though.

i like how most of the items were au naturale whereas kaizhi found it too natural for her liking. haha

we were stuffed but we made space for desserts!

i had panna cotta....

i like it! its nice! haha.. kaizhi doesnt understand why i'd like milk custard.

kaizhi went for the tiramisu...

a big huge piece! we couldnt finish it. kaizhi quite liked it.

Little Vietnam

While Eng Kee was sending me home, he started raving to me about this particular coffee at this vietnam place at Grandlink. he asked if i was game to check it out and there we were....

the whole place just had a very right feel. its very relaxing like im teleported over to malaysia or vietnam kinda feel. everyone just seemed very laid back.

the coffee....

and cheesy sausages!

the sausages were yummy!

i also had a bowl of beef balls...

the beef balls were ok. soup was also just ok but he said a lot of their other food are good too.

Otto

Lunch with Lyna at Otto...

it has really beautiful and sophisticated decor!

the complimentary bread...

complimentary starter from the chef - asparagus...

it was not bad.

for appetiser, we had the pamma ham and the cheese upon the manager's recommendation ....

Lyna didnt really like it. she found it too authentic for her liking. she prefers the more localised kinda italian food. But for me, i LOVE IT! haha... the cheese was so nicely textured and the pamma ham was exactly how fabulous pamma ham should taste like!

for mains, lyna went for the lamb rack...

it looks damn good. too bad i dun take lamb. lyna said its nice!

myself, i had a ravioli... its veal inside with some cheesy truffle sauce..

yummy yum yum!!

for desserts, Lyna ordered a tiramisu...

and she loved it. the biscuit on the top is quite good. crispy n all.

i had the creme brulee...

nicely done with a nice vanilla taste to it!

lyna treated for lunch, thank cute!

Paramount Tung Lok

we did the ala carte buffet at Paramount.

each person was given a bowl of buddha jump over the wall...

it was not bad considering it still had the abalone, sharkfins, mushrooms n the other herbal herbal ingredients.

prawns wise, we were given 100g per person so we had 500g. divided it to be done 2 styles, steamed and with soya sauce (i think, coz i didnt try)....

some of the starters....

the salmon sashimi was thick and good! the rest were pretty ok as well.

but the peking duck was quite a disappointment!

usually it should be just the skin but this one is with the meat and it looks like it has been cooked and recooked duno how many times. i happened to make this comment abt it being cooked and recooked when the manager walked past n overheard me. his recovery measures were pretty impressive though. he took the initiative and came up to us and told us he will reserve us the peking duck. In fact, he served us the whole duck and the server prepared it on the spot!

and dats not all, he gave us the remaining duck to bring home. mum n ah yee were all so impressed! his name is Sam. THUMBS UP UP UP for the excellent service!

the reserved peking duck...

it was much better although i personally still found the skin not crispy enuff.

the roasted meat items...

some of the other items on the buffet menu...

the braised veal was realllllly good. there was so much food we were sooooo stuffed!

there was also quite a selection of desserts but i went for the chocolate ice cream and the ice cream puffs!

nice!

Ricotti

after dinner, we shifted over to Ricotti for desserts while waiting for Camilia to knock off.

our desserts....

its quite sad they don't have duomo anymore. the warm chocolate cake didnt haf chocolate oozing out like it normally should. i think its just inconsistency in standards.

the 2nd hazelnut cake was ok.

i quite liked the panna cotta!

Beppu

we had wanted to do dinner at the sakae sushi's pasta shop where they had dat unbeatable cheap buffet but they took away the buffet n its all boring.

so we shifted over to Beppu for dinner!

our ramen...

mine was the charsiew one w/o chilli. kaizhi n siqi went for the chicken karage and salmon one with levels of chilli at 4 and 2 respectively.

haha.. i like my clear soup much better. n i like their charsiew! quite fatty but yums! haha

Yong He Dou Jiang

there was tao huay...

i tried the version dat JJ had the other day. I think i prefer the normal kind!

you tiao and shao bing...

mian xian...

i quite like their mian xian. very soft...

lu rou fan...

all the girls loved it. they loved it so much they ordered another one. i like the one from peng lai ge better.

chao mee fen...

was hoping it'd be like xin wang's. haha.. but it was ok.

tan zai mian....

tasted more like prawn noodles.

beef noodles...

i felt the soup and beef was not bad. the girls found the soup a little funny coz of the beef taste but they commented that the noodles were really Q.
