1 Caramel

ishan initially had desserts in mind but she had too much to eat today so we ordered the cakes den decided to hold it until the mains came. Joey was a little hungry so he asked the server what savory food they had. apparently they had pizza so joey ordered a parma ham and rocket pizza ...

while its not the best we've had, i think its pretty good and decent. the pizza is thin crust thou not the thinnest around.

Chin Yong Fruits Trading

After the bad encounter, we decided to shift over to another stall....

this time round they were truly enjoying it.. the stall owners were much nicer too!

check out the big yellow fleshy durians....

and from the first stall, i was contemplating if i shld go for a coconut drink. i was tempted but i got reminded of the drama serial fei tian xi shi. how they said coconut drink can make a person get fat very easily coz its super sweet. by the time we got to this stall, my will power lost the battle.....

ha! but i managed to get xinying to share it with me!

Ah Hung Sultan Durian

After all that spicy chicken wings, they were craving for Durian. so Ken drove over to Geylang and randomly chose a stall. I'm not a durian eater so i was the photographer.

The guys bot 2 durians (one sweet one bitter) at $5 each from the stall. when they opened the durian, they found that only ONE side contained the fruit....

they actually did go over to the owner to try to change the durian and the owner actually replied.. " if its nice, one seed enough already " WTH?!

xinying was so funny. she went.. " june, quick take pictures.. " den she told Ivan.. " she take pictures, by tomorrow whole singapore will koe already. dat this stall bluff people one "

like wat ken said, luckily they only bot one each. so we decided to shift over to another stall.

Sunset Grill & Pub

i read about this particular seletar spicy chicken wings place from Bernard's blog. One fine day when i was at Xinying's place lounging away, she was telling me how Ken is a very powerful chilli eater. His tolerance for spiciness is very high etc. Dat somehow got me reminded of the seletar spicy chicken wings thingy. We did a google and made a mental note to check it out together when Ken is available.

Today, is the day!

Ken drove and he said he is VERY CONFIDENT he can find the place.

Ken was doing well until we got to the Seletar camp. We found the road Picadilly and Ken was lagi confident. However, what we didnt know was this Picadilly road was not just a straight path and it kinda broke in between. We were terribly lost. We drove round and round in circles.

when we called the restaurant, they said they are where the singapore flying club is.. but we only saw signs to the singapore youth flying club. when i tried to clarify if its the singapore youth flying club, the person said its not. we were so lost.

even wif directions, we still couldnt find the place. den we saw some other vehicles and we decided the best method is probably to tail after them!

Ken was hilarious. He actually said.. " ay.. ask them later eat finish already wait for us to go out together leh. if not i duno how to get out ".... hahahahaha!

n like FINALLY we found the place!

but u know what? when we got there, we realised dat despite it being such an ulu place, the place was packeddddddd!! the place had a very old school rustic beer garden feel....

we were told that without reservations, we gotta wait about 45 mins before we can get seats. bo bian, we drove all the way in, we agreed to wait.

we explored around the place and took some pictures...

actually the wait didnt take as long. we probably waited for only ard 15 mins.

Sunset Grill & Pub...

the scardey cat me ordered the non spicy wings....

maybe i can kay siao take pictures of me eating the non spicy wings and let people think i also had the level 30 one!

den the star for today arrived!

its not cheap ok. It cost $30 for half a dozen of wings. works out to about $5 per wing! damn expensive if u ask me!

ken.. after his 2nd wing, started to appear really gone... he started to tell us he is having a tummy ache... and appearing like he is in a semi-conscious kinda state...

ha-base....

he very quickly told us he needs to go to the toilet which he did. and he took a very time long inside. got me quite worried coz the server who took our order actually told us that there were people who actually fainted after eating it.

i only took a small tiny wheeny sip using the side of my fork so i couldnt really describe dat spicy level to u.

n like i suggested earlier, should enjoy our mains before the challenge but ken was super enthu abt the spicy wings. he wanted to get it over and done with and he felt dat it cant be dat bad for him. hahaha.. we end up missing ken for the first half of our dinner.

ivan ordered the pork ribs...

which was quite meaty. not too bad

xinying had the pork chops....

was quite tender and worth a try.

i had the striploin...

done medium rare...

it was ok but it had a lot of i duno if u can call dat tendon. so it was really chewy.

the best mains for today was the fish and chips. it was damn good. but it was funny coz it arrived w/o the chips...

the fish was thick and the batter wholely covered the fish. it was just fabulous! very home style yet yummy.

after like half an hour, our hero came back. strong again!

and thou we were really full, xinying and myself still had space somewhere for dessertssss! hee

brownie wif ice cream!

a nice finish to dinner. their brownie was nice.. served warm and wif vanilla ice cream, damn good!

we sat around for awhile more for chats (and recovery.. haha)...

we 'lost' ivan during part 2 of the dinner coz it was his turn to start 'bombing' the toilet....haha

the soba crepe sushi...

not bad!

my sashimi rice bowl...

they have very very fresh sashimi. i like!

love it! its really good! one of the better soft shell crab i've had.

Heliapad

I met up with the babes around 7 pm at The Central and it took us awhile to locate Helipad.

I would say their entrance looked rather special. We were pretty amused by it. Its shaped like a lift and Pris and myself began whipping out our camera and trying the different modes to take pictures of it. The mode w/o flash made it look slightly X-files.. like its some doorway to hell.. the modern scientific version! ahha

when the door is opened....

their menu.....

we went outdoors to check out their outdoor seats... there were no outdoor seats, only outdoor view overlooking clarke quay...

back to our seats where our drinks arrived. it was happy hour, 1 for 1....

we shared some finger food... the platter..

i didnt think much of the other items but i really liked the fried fish.

the pizza....

very cheesy! the girls said it was nice.

Helia

Statue invited Leonard and myself to his company's dinner. I was very excited when he told me it was held at Helia, that restaurant located inside the Botanical Gardens. I've been meaning to visit that place.

the restaurant was not big. in fact the interior seating area was pretty small. But it was a cozy and quiet little place...

the menu for today....

looking at the menu, i luffed because i suddenly recalled how statue tried to persuade me to come for this dinner. i was telling him i dun want to come from work wearing my not pretty uniform and he was persuading me and at the end he said.. " chicken or fish for you mdm? " i somehow just found dat amusing.

the food was served pretty s... l..o....w....l...y.....

first up was the salad... there was avocado and some corn chips and some other greens...

the zesty orange dressing seemed to be lacking in flavour but that was totally fine with me coz im not into orange dressing.

the soup of the day...

i couldnt really taste to tell what cream soup this is but it was not bad. the piece of bread in the middle had some kind of fish paste on it as well so it was quite special.

for mains, i went for the chicken.... miso marinated boneless spring chicken..

i found the chicken pretty normal. not particularly tasty.

and i managed to get statue to do an exchange with me. his fish for my chicken breast. keke..

the miso charred fish...

honestly, i didnt really taste the miso. the fish was decent as well but nothing to wow about.

den it was dessert...

when i saw that the menu wrote young ginger nougat, i whispered to statue and said.. " don't they know a lot of people dun take ginger one? "

but when it came, the whole shape n texture made me want to try it. It looked like icec ream!

it tasted like ice cream! ginger ice cream! and its got nuts inside. the nutty things between the ice cream... all in all it tastes great! very unique!

Burger looked big. taste was ok if i recall correctly coz im post blogging this. i guess its mediocre since i dun remember it being fantastic or lousy.

we also had a couple of yakitori which were not bad.

rosti was done not overcooked.. in fact it was done semi medium as i requested. i like!

Empire State

Dinner with Kelvin at Empire State.

he ordered some mixed berry drink...

it actually looked very interesting. ok, the colour was not so interesting in a greyish blue colour but there were some red little bits on it. i forgot (and i was tam poh shy) to ask him to let me try it.

Kelvin's input on the drink is.. " bubbly taste with a tingling sweet and sour aftertaste
"

we also shared a plate of mussels....

the cheesy pesto tasting spread was ok but i didnt like the strong pesto taste actually.

i, being boring, went for the safe option of the huge meatball spaghetti...

i like this pasta. cheap n nice. its not the atas expensive kinda pasta and i like the fact that the pasta texture isnt too soft. portion is HUGE.

Kelvin went for the salmon...

again, reasonably priced wif decent taste and good portions. i prefer my salmon done medium rare. theirs though not medium rare was decent. and i finally got to try their mashed potato. pretty good!

Kelvin's input on the salmon was... " salmon was a little overdone...moisture was lacking...should have poached it lighter "

hahah.. all the Kelvin's input parts are what he told me via msn much later

thank cute for the treat!
