Ice Cold Beer

Ice Cold Beer....

the place was so packed there was a lot of people standing around outside the place....

but we were lucky to have managed to get a table pretty fast....

they had shirley temple while i had gin tonic...

the table beside us ordered popcorn and as soon as it arrived, that aroma!

so we ordered one serving as well.. $5!

smells so good! its salted popcorn and i was mighty surprised to learn dat squiddy, crabby and rachie likes salted popcorn as well! i thot i was one of the ulu people who likes salty popcorn! hehe.. this popcorn is very good!

its a very nice chill out place to check out the crowds and drink. we're comin back alright??

Giraffe

seafoodies march 08 gathering @ Giraffe... they were quite sweet, they waited for me to arrive before they started eating even though i said i wasnt hungry.. they were waiting to let me take pics of the food.. aww....

the food was kinda cold but still good.. some pasta...

was pretty good.

some miso and salmon dish...

was alright as well.

we were contemplating if we should order anything else but decided to go straight to dessert.

we shared the molten lava cake...

a closer up view...

its pretty good. all of them liked it! its the sensation of the cold ice cream wif warm chocolate fudge!! nice!

Miss Clarity Cafe

Lunch with Carol at Miss Clarity Cafe.

shared a huge basket of nuggets....

i quite like clarity's nuggets.

for lunch, i had the beef stew...

a closer up view...

today's beef stew is not very good for me. the beef had quite a strong mutton taste and it wasnt totally soft like the past few times i tried. in fact its got quite a bit of tendon.

carol went for the fish cordon bleu....

i didnt try but she said its quite tasteless.

We ordered set lunch so it came wif desserts. Carol upgraded her dessert to the mud ooze...

carol liked it.

i like my bread butter pudding....

J.Co

was waiting for Carol for lunch and passed by J.Co...

couldnt resist buying to try.. was contemplating on how many to buy.. i know if i only get one i wun be satisfied coz i will definitely wana try the different variety they have to offer so i bought 3!

i'm a donut factory supporter and although i heard mild raves about J.Co, i felt that they couldnt do better den my donut factory. I thot i'd probably just haf one or two bites of each den do away... NA LI ZHI DAO!

I first picked up the almond flakes with white chocolate one.... as i picked it up, i already could feel how SOFT it is... after one bite, I COULDN'T STOP. I soon gobbled down the whole donut, eager to start on my second. I told myself the second and third one, i must NOT finish.

my second one was the white chocolate outer with peanut butter filling one. Same! as i picked it up, i could feel how soft it is... the white chocolate was also good! Luckily i didnt really like their peanut butter coz i find it too thick ... its just a personal preference dat i dun like peanut butter of these kind. Yet, i finished it as well.

As i sat there and ate, i looked up and saw a poster.. " One is never enuff "... i silently told myself, they are right!

and my third was the double chocolate one.. chocolate on the outside and chocolate on the inside. THANK GOD i don't like their chocolate. Not because its not nice i just didnt like the way their chocolate tasted but others may like it. And i really really liked the texture of their dough!

i also ordered a hot chocolate... who koes the hot chocolate came wif a free original glazed....

i had a bite of the original glazed, also very nice! But i tahan myself, i only had a bite. If donut factory was my ai ren, den J.Co is my zhi ai! hahahha

their hot chocolate isnt very good though. Prefer the one from Mc Cafe instead.

Hua Li Xuan

Dinner with Cynthia and Xinying at a chinese restaurant over at Katong Odeon level 1....

Hua Li Xuan...

food from this place turned out to be unexpectedly GOOD!

the appetiser....

LOVE IT LOVE IT!! i liked it so much i asked for a second helping! Its a little chilled and like the texture and the taste.. a lil sesame taste. NICE!

fried prawn fritters....

also decent! crispy skin and succulent prawns inside.

har gao...

also quite good.

xiao long bao...

i personally found the meat too tender... so much so its got not much texture. Quite a good portion of chap inside.

carrot cake...

very soft .. taste is not bad as well.

pork cutlet...

not tough at all. Very good pork cutlet.

dan dan noodles...

was recommended by the server but we didnt find it very good.

beef shank noodles...

xinying's choice and its yummilious... xinying rided on it to say she's got good taste. haha.. its really nice.. dun see the noodle white white pale pale.. its actually really tasty! the sauce is a lil sesame-sauce-ish. Nice!

cynthia was the cai tao for today... she paid for dinner.. thank cute!

Al Dente

I have a $200 voucher given from a friend (not convenient to reveal his name but thank cute!). Dinner with the team at Boat Quay's Al Dente + Hot Stones.

We were initially deciding which restaurant to go ... Carol opted for Hot Stones while Al Dente seemed to have better view.. but since it was raining, we headed to Hot Stones and found to our delight dat theres another Al Dente right beside Hot Stones along Boat Quay and we could order from both restaurants! yay!

Flower crab bisque....

nice! i like! Mojo likes it as well!

Mushroom soup....

would be nicer if its thicker.

smoked salmon carpaccio....

anna really liked it. i found it nice as well.

ham and melon...

the pamma ham was just ok but the honeydew was really really sweet.

calamari...

which was good! the texture of the squid was good.

we shared a pamma ham and rocket salad pizza....

the portion of the pamma ham was quite miserable. Duno why it seems to look more on the picture. but overall i think the pizza was not bad.

for mains, we had the blue cheese ravioli...

was glad i found more fellow blue cheese lovers but sadly their blue cheese is not strong at all.

cod fish.....

yummy!!

penne with scallops...

the cream sauce was pretty good. overall we quite liked the dish.

tenderloin...

good portions, tender beef.

braised beef cheeks....

yum yum! nicely braised and quite tender.. like it for the beefy taste!

the only one who ordered from the hot stones menu was Carol. She had the surf and turf which was steak and crayfish...

a closer up view...

the cooked product...

the crayfish was really fragrant. portion was more den i expected actually. i thot they'd just give a small thin miserable portion of crayfish but turns out its relatively thick and quite succulent.

the potato salad dat came wif the surf and turf ....

which we were all too full to really eat it. haha

and we shared a tiramisu....

the tiramisu was FABULOUS! it was really good! sweet and nicely soaked cake below.. yum yum!

Shokudo

Dear dear has mildly raved to me about this new Japanese restaurant at the new extended wing of Raffles City basement because its got the same concept as marche where you charge everything to a card and pay upon leaving.

Sho.. shoku... shokudo!

the counter to reserve a table...

the card to charge..

i ordered sashimi....

was just craving for sashimi today. haa..

yaki tori....

its pretty good especially the pork. They have quite a good variety of items.

Gyoza....

Was too cold, dun find it very nice.

cream sauce pasta....

comes with bacon and mushroom, overall not bad.

Char siew ramen...

the char siew was not impressive in my view but i really really liked the soup base.. its got a bit of prawn taste.
