For desserts was bread and butter pudding and strawberry cheesecake....

The bread and butter pudding was ok but i've tasted better. I din like the cheesecake. I think its not nice at all, very hard.

Seafood - Fish & Co. (My birthday celebration)

Fish & Co. @ Wheelock Place..

We needed a table of 10. We waited from like 6.45 pm till ard 7.30 pm. In fact when we first waited, we did see that there were still empty tables around but yes, they were pretty scattered. We saw them keep admitting people in smaller groups. Apparently nothing has been done to keep aside and arrange a bigger table for us. We tried to speak to the person in charge, offered our recommendations before we finally managed to get a table at ard 8 pm. Not very good service.

Our orders...

The Swordfish Collar was ordered by mummy gorzilla (Elica). It was very crispy. And like me, she prefers the rice to the fries. Also comes with some greens including mushrooms, carrots and another vege which im not sure what it is.

Jasmine ordered the Seafood Platter for 1. Had wanted to share the seafood platter for 2 with her but i felt that i've been having seafood platters everytime i go Fish & Co., its time to try something else. The seafood platter for 1 is good.. love the grilled fish and grilled calamari (can be requested to be changed to fried calamari)... i usually dun take much of the prawns.. includes both fries and rice.

The Simple Pasta was ordered by nanny (Meijiao). Its a more dry kinda pasta but the seasoning was done very well. Its tasty!

We also ordered a garlic and lemon butter mussels to share. The sauce for this item is to die for. It comes with a basket of bread for u to dip the sauce with. The sauces also goes splendidly well with the rice! *Thumbs up up*

and more items includes.....

Seafood platter for 2 shared by ah mah pig (Joanna) and Lenett. Difference from seafood platter for 1 vs 2 is that 2 includes the garlic lemon mussels.

I tried the New York Fish & Chips but i replaced the fries to rice. Its not too bad.. the fish comes with cheese. Most people would like it. Personally, i prefer grilled fish though. The next time i go, i'll wana try their Coriander Catch. That's grilled dory with coriander sauce.

And drinks wise, everytime i'll stick to passion fruit. its a frizzy drink. Jasmine ordered one of their jumbo duno wat drink... its a freeze.. includes carrot and mango. Taste was not bad considering i dun like mango...

and check out the size of her drink against mine!

Payment using Citibank card includes a free drink (selected item) per main course.

Buffet - Quality Hotel Porridge Buffet

After work, i went over to Quality Hotel. Rachel was telling me shes very eager to check out the porridge buffet at Quality Hotel so i agreed to go try it out with her. Rachel made reservations at 6.30 pm...

I was there first.. this is the interior...

there was not many people when i got there.

i was very hungry coz i've not eaten the whole day so i din wait for rachel but digged in first.

These are the condiments for the porridge...

My first helping....

I was still feeling cold from the aircon in the office and the hot porridge sure did warm me up!

There was quite a variety of dishes available......

They had vege (cabbage), braised egg, sweet and sour fish, chicken curry, chicken masala, fried mussels, duck, mee goreng, etc etc. the carrot cake was especially good!

And because Rachel took quite some time to arrive, i was already digging into the desserts! heh..

They had the ice slicer... and i had DIY ice kacang...

fun but not very yummy. The colouring din taste good.. and the red beans were the big kidney red beans, not the small sweet kind.

Their other desserts included fruits, ice cream and nonya kueys...

There was also the hot barley soup which i innovated and added the sliced ice into it...

By ard 7 odd, the restaurant started to get packed....

Rachel arrived at 7 odd. She was late because of her facial.

We realised that the dishes they were offering actually were not fixed. They kept refilling and changing new dishes...

Rachel was excited when she came back with steamed fish...

This steamed fish is not bad. Though i found the fish a lil bit hard but the sauce was damn nice. It had a ginseng taste.

Price is ard $11 per person.

Hong Kong - Xin Wang HK Cafe (First visit)

Dar dar has organised the dinner today to be at Heartland Mall, a HK style cha chan ting located there. Its located along Kovan.

Its called Xin Wang Hong Kong Style Cafe. We were shocked to see the very long queue outside. But we din exactly wait very long.

this is the interior of the restaurant.....

this is the menu.....

Very colourful, alot alot of items, good to eat pictures. Made me so unsure what to order because i feel like trying everything.

Oh.. and they use the nostalgic rooster utensils!

Our orders started arriving. The drinks.....

A mango freeze thingy.. most of us ordered the HK iced milk tea and the milo dinosaur. I had the HK iced milk tea... Yummm!

The sides....

there was fried wanton, steamed custard bun, steamed pork ribs and fu pi juan. Overall, all the items were pretty ordinary. Not too bad but nothing fantastic in my view.

The toasts we ordered.....

One is the peanut butter wif condensed milk topped with milo powder. Another is butter with condensed milk also topped with milo powder. The bread is thick and crispy!

and the mains we ordered....

there was alot of items.. from instant noodles to the different fried rice to baked rice. Everyone was not too bad. Nothing fantastic but not bad. Can try.

Opens everyday till 3 am. 2am is their last order. Weekends (Friday and saturdays) they are open 24 hours.

When everyone was pretty full, this Andy wanted to order dessert.. and he deliberately ordered a mango ice thingy ... haha.. coz he koes dat i dun take mango... lol... and when it came, he was so excited and he was so cute, he tried to show it to the other table to haolian....

It was so huge.. the rest of them shared it but couldnt finish it.

Buffet - Plaza Parkroyal (Mothers' Day)

The spread of food was not bad.. somewhat similar to what was previously available... I din take pics of everything, just some of them...

there was satay, soft shell crab and cheese oysters. I thot the cheese oysters was quite yummy!

And there was also seafood chowder, drunken prawns, big fresh oysters, prawns, smoked salmon and salmon salad....

Not forgetting the sashimi....

there was the octopus, salmon, tuna and sword fish.

and the italian pasta which the chef cooks on the spot...

I chose the cream based one but i din find it very nice.

and the desserts.....

And the 2 lil ones loved the ice cream and chocolate fondue....

The whole meal, 6 adults and 2 children came up to around $243 (after 10% discount from using the UOB card).

And because its mothers' day, with every 6 adults, we get a free gift. Its a dining set....

very heavy!

We also managed to get a free picture from coverlooks. Will be collecting the picture in around 2 weeks time.

Chinese - Crystal Jade (Jurong Point)

I was craving for xiao long bao after reading Xiaxue's blog! (actually i was also craving for foie gras.. hahah)

There was quite a crowd and we waited for a short while before we got seats.....

We ordered 2 xiao long bao... duno why the picture went missing.. miu~ All the xiao long bao were broken when they got to us.. standard was not there.. but it did still satisfy my craving.. hehe..

We also ordered the hui guo rou....

It was also not bad but i vaguely recalled it to be much much better.

Cafe - Swiss Cafe

I went to meet up with the OCBC babes at Swiss Cafe. Its ambience is pretty good. Pretty quiet for a public holiday.....

and their menu....

on their menu, they had this semi buffet thingy. Price is $20 if u opt for just main course (comes with appetiser) or if u opt for just buffet. If u opt for both den its $30. Pretty worth it. I opted for the main course that comes with an appetiser. My choice of main course was the butter pan-seared pork "wienerschniztel" as recommended by the server..

Actually, the appetiser are things are they got from the buffet table. They get abit of everything and place it into a plate for you. You will only one serving of this.

For the rest, some also chose the main course option like me or had the buffet. Because i was late, by the time i arrived most of them had finished eating their mains so no pics! And for those who had just the buffet, hehe.. they kinda went to get more servings to share with the rest of us.... lol

Gotta mention this particular server...

He's really helpful, friendly and chatty. He joked with us and he was the one who recommended that i choose the pork chop as my mains and when queenie asked for blackberry jam, he specially went to find them for her. He was also very polite and he chatted up quite a bit wif us. Apparently he's been working there for many many years already. He did tell us the year but i cant remember the exact year.

Cafe - Bakerzin

After our dinner, we adjourned to Bakerzin for some desserts. Heh.. Gorzilla (Brian) loves cheesecake.

At Bakerzin, there was quite a crowd so we had to wait for a table.

When we were ready to order, we went to choose the cakes we want.. i chose 2 of the cakes (the strawberry shortcake and the new york cheese cake), Jasmine chose the Tiramisu and i recommended Gorzilla (Brian) the warm chocolate cake... we also saw 2 girls having the warm chocolate cake while we were waiting for a table so Gorzilla (Brian) was really enticed by it! haha.. so these were the desserts we ordered...

and when the warm chocolate cake arrived, they all can't wait to dig in! Especially Brian!

We arranged to attack it together!

Ooo.. how the chocolate OOoozes out!

A small cake shared by 5 of us, very soon it was.....

haha.. finished and satisfied!

the drinks we ordered...

Ah mah pig (Joanna) and mummy gorzilla (Elica) shared the iced lychee mint under my recommendation and they liked it. Jasmine ordered some iced mocha thingy which was... not too bad. Gorzilla (Brian) had some duno what coffee drink also.. heh.. I had the italian soda in peach flavour which was not bad, not too sweet.
