Taiwan Delight

Ping jie jie wanted to try Taiwan Delight.

Without a doubt, she's here for the lu rou fan....

as for me, i tried the kong rou fan....

compared to the lu rou fan, the meat is in bigger proportion and the fats can be seperated away. And since im not a fatty meat love, i gave the fats away to the fatty meat love.....

haha.. and yes, dats ping jie jie. But comparing the lu rou fan and the kong rou fan, the lu rou fan's sauce is thicker and tastier.

and of coz, i had to let her try the yan su ji as well....

Ping jie jie said this is not the best yan su ji she's tried though. The best she's tried is from Yi Pao Er Hong, a bubble tea shop dat used to be located at Tampines Mall... which, has closed down. CHEY! Means no chance of trying it anymore.

Den its some egg roll pork floss duno wat....

which was just ok i guess..

and den its the rice cake...

which is also ok.

And the drinks we ordered...

papaya milk and some green apple freeze thingy. The papaya milk was ok.. the green apple thingy was pretty refreshing.

Cafe Cartel

This is what we ordered for starters.. nuggets and munchers!

I remember trying the munchers with nuasters the other time and the one this time round tastes abit different leh. Aside from cheese, there seems to also be potato inside. Its a different taste but i do still quite like it.

The mains

First is Lea's Panfried Linguine. I recommended Lea to try it though i've not tried it myself because i saw dat its an awarded signature dish of Cartel. It was really quite nice.. a lil spicy but nice.

Humbert ordered some grilled chicken with pasta thingy. I din exactly know what he ordered when he ordered. If i had knew, i'd have stopped him. coz i ordered the same exact thing when i was there with the OCBC girls the other time and i din quite like it.

As for me, i ordered the Pepper Fish which is pepper style linguine with fish. I like it, i think its nice.

Taiwan Delight

I brought Lea over to try dat Taiwan Delight place.....

We shared the following....

Aside from the crispy chicken and the lu rou fan dat i showed over the last 2 days, we also tried some bamboo rice thingy... which lea found it not bad but i din quite like it.

Lea liked the cripsy chicken as well!

Lea only agreed to try abit of the sauce with the rice of the lu rou fan and not the meat because its all fatty meat! haha...But she agreed that the sauce is really nice as well!

Taiwan Delight

I got Diane to walk with me to that Taiwanese Delight shop located opposite Bugis Junction. I've been wanting to try their chou dou fu! Smelly beancurd!

The range of items they sell...

However, to my disappointment, they no longer sell the smelly beancurd because they received complaints from their neighbours. ARGH! How can lidat? But they said their main branch at Joo Chiat does still sell it though. But dats not very convenient leh!

Anyway, settled for their crispy fried chicken instead....

It was pipping hot! Very good! Much better den dat Shi Lin brand if u ask me coz its tender chicken... not breast meat! VERY GOOD! Will probably go back to try their other stuff. BUT I WANT MY SMELLY BEANCURD! ARgh!!

Chinese - Paramount Hotel

The venue was Paramount Hotel.

When we asked for iced water, the server highly recommended us to opt for their homemade herbal tea. When i know that they have it chilled (by adding ice), i asked for it as well.

The herbal tea is quite nice leh.... its not too sweet!

We had the buffet. Costs around $33.80 +++ per person. Adds up to around $40+ per person. But its one of the more worth it buffet i've ever tried! Check out the whole range of dishes!!

There's sashimi, sushi, buddha jump over the wall (not very nice and limited to a pot per person), preserved egg, duno wat pork with jelly fish (Jelly fish was very nice), barbeque mix (consists of char siew, roast duck and chicken.. the roast duck and chicken were both very good.. all drumstick meat), peking roast duck (ok only), steamed prawns and cereal prawns (taste ok only but prawns were quite fresh), baked oyster (ok only.. MU one is still the best i've tried so far), fried soon hock (VERY NICE!), black pepper beef with potato (VERY NICE! beef was so so so tender.. potato was very nice!), frog leg claypot (not bad la.. coz i din try much of it), scallop with celery (ok la), grilled salmon head (NICE!), ostrict meat (i din quite like it but the rest liked it), soft shell crab (quite special coz its served with pork floss but dun haf enuff roe.. hehe), fried si ji dou (nice!!), some vege (think not bad ba.. i din try coz it arrived when i was already damn full), shishamo (nicely fried to prefection.. not bad), jin du pai gu (ok i guess.. i only tried a mouth.. too full liao)

so u see, looking at the type of dishes they serve, i think the buffet is very worth it!

and for desserts....

they have herbal jelly, longan with almond pudding, fried ice cream puffs, seseame tang yuan, red bean paste.

The red bean paste was the nicest (in my own humble view).

Buffet - Triple 3 (Mandarin Hotel)

Our dinner was at one of my favourite buffet restaurant, Triple 3!

Some of their starters.....

alot of small dishes and assorted smoked fish. I like smoked salmon!

and sashimi......

aside from the common salmon and tuna, they also had the cuttlefish (ika) and prawns (cant remember what its called). And i so happen to love the cuttlefish and this kinda prawns! hee. ... soooooo happy!

In correspondence to the festive, they also had yu sheng!

and their roasted ham (which was just ok), roasted beef (WHICH WAS VERY GOOD!!!!), scallops (which was ok) and salmon (which was NICE when warm)!

Soup, they had lobster soup! The difference between their lobster bisque to Olive Tree's one is, Olive Tree's one is saltier hence tastier. This one is more blend. However, u can find lobster chunks in the soup!

You won't be able to find them in Olive Tree's.

and one of the main reason why i love Triple 3's buffet is because......

YES! They serve lobsters!! However, the lobster standards have been dropping.

Years years back, during my first meal there with mummy, their lobsters were placed on steamed bamboo containers. They are big, fresh and yummy!

Couple years back, when i brought dar dar and loh gong zai there, their lobsters kiew zhui (ie. strinked in size), are no longer steamed but grilled with cheese and no longer placed on the buffet table. You gotta ask them from the servers and they will bring it to you. However, the grilled cheese lobsters did still taste very yummy!

Now, their lobsters kiew zhui yet again... they are still served upon request to servers and are either with garlic sauce or lobster sauce. Not as nice leh....

They also served cheese platter....

Desserts!

They even had chocolate fondue now!

Dippers included strawberries, marshmallows, mini muffins, prunes, apricots and biscoti! Played with it but din really like it.

My rave for Triple 3 has also gotta be because.......................

Yes, they have all these assorted chocolates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know how expensive all these chocolates would cost in Chox or Godiva counters dun you? Here, its freeeeeeeeeeeeeee flow! YAY!!

and alot of their chocolates are VERY NICE!

Local Delights - Fa Ji Yong Dao Hu

I went over to Amoy Street. Tried hard to recall what good food was introduced on Yummy King previously, could only remember the yong tau fu.....

This stall....

The selection... sorry i felt paiseh to openly take clear pics of the whole selection....

comes with free vege....

the special thing about this stall as recommended, if i recall correctly, is that they include chee cheong fan....

Overall, i didn't find the food extraordinary. Very normal yong tau fu in my view.

I couldnt finish the yong tau hu.

Seafood - Jumbo seafood restaurant

This is our first time at the East Coast Seafood Centre..... Never realised they had so many seafood restaurants all at one place...

The place where we are having dinner tonight....

Jumbo. I told you singaporeans are rich! All the seafood restaurants around were all packed i tell you. Packed and there were queues of people waiting to be seated.

first dish is the wang wang yu sheng!

everyone lao ge feng sheng shui qi~!

Next is the noodle...

some chicken chang shou mian.. taste is not bad..

and the bamboo fish i think...

i've heard dar dar and vreniz previously mentioning to me about this but this is my first time trying. its really not bad!

Den its the drunken prawns...

I wont say its wonderful.. but its not bad la.. fresh prawns...

and this is si ji dou....

not too bad.. im beginning to like vege more...

den theres the fried you tiao...

im personally not impressed by the fried you tiao....

and the long awaited chilli crab. Some mistakes were made in their kitchen and one of the aunty server came up to us with a pretty bad attitude, not even explaining things properly, expected us to change our crab order. Pretty much a spoiler for the evening....

The crab was ok. Had lotsa roe but the ones i really like is those with gao and not really the orangy hard roe but rather the yellowish soft kind. Love man tous... realised Kendi loves them too!

and finally, dessert was watermelon and honey dew sago..
