Mr Curry

the butter girls met up for a dine and chill session before sq heads over to usa.

camilia suggested jap food but we were 45 in queue for waraku so we strolled around to look for other places, chanced on mr curry which is also known as cafe de waraku.

3 of us had a yuzu honey each...

frizzy with a yuzu taste. its nice.. yuzu and lemon grass drinks seems to be the next in thing these days.

ordered a tuna and asparagus salad to share. wat i like about this place is:

1. appetising pictures on menu - so many yummy pictures that makes me feel spoilt for choice!
2. reasonably priced - food is all in all very reasonably priced
3. yummy food - food actually tastes good despite the reasonable pricing (not out of the world kind of good but very decent taste)

kaizhi had a pork katsu rice...

sq had a scallop chilli rice...

the fried rice was not bad.

we also shared a grilled platter.. i think its only around $12.80?

and they are all yummy! this can easily cost around $20 at other jap restaurants.

i saw another table with a cream pasta like thingy and was informed its actually their cream sauced rice...

there is a choice of ketchup rice or butter rice and i chose the butter rice...

this item was not bad.

camilia ordered the curry rice seeing its like some kind of signature dish...

it looks quite disappointing to me. but i guess given the price, we wont complain.

Tung Lok Signatures

gathering with cheryl and orella. we went over to tunglok signatures at vivo because orella had some vouchers for discount...

they ordered because i arrived late.

fish...

not exactly sure what fish this is but its damn good. its really fresh.

i would think this is the fried silver bait...

which was ok.

spinach and tofu...

soft tofu which is pretty good.

salted egg prawns....

was very happy when they said they ordered this. was nice but for some reasons, we all couldnt finish it. i took one and couldnt really go for another. cheryl found it a little too oily in fact.

for dessert, cheryl had the hashima...

it was ok.

i had a test tube fruit juice...

said to be beetroot, doesnt taste like beetroot.. taste like fruit punch but its not bad.

i had the pulau hitam...

overpriced decent pulau hitam. haha

orella had the mango pudding (i think) which i forgot to take a picture of it.

Hard Rock Cafe

arranged to meet up with Eu Jin after work today for dinner. It was hard rock we went!

he had the legendary burger...

when i asked him about how it tastes, he said .. " its good, this is a good burger ".. but i didnt see that wow expression on his face. haha.. so im guessing yes its really good but not mind blowing (either that or he was just really tired.. haha).

i had a beef fajitas...

it was yummy! the side vegetables and the cheese etc with sizzling hot pieces of yummy beef. the guacamole sauce was also quite nice. as eu jin would put it, its been seasoned to be pretty tasty.

Joan Bowen Cafe

after our appt along tai seng, leelin was telling me this area is her territory so i let her decide the venue for lunch.

she suddenly mentioned this place called Joan Bowen. Apparently, she said the Prime Minister also mentioned this place in his rally speech or something. But the main thing is, this place actually hires autistic teenagers to work for them...

we shared a miso glazed scallops...

the scallop is of a decent size and its quite tasty. Leelin couldnt stop going.. " good, good, not bad " haha

for mains, we shared a squid ink pasta in alfredo cream sauce...

this is really yummy. the cream sauce is tasty with a garlic taste yet not over gerlard. there was also a decent number of prawns and their prawns are the very crunchy in texture kind and its a good size.

we also shared a pork belly...

the pork belly was a good portion. the meat was quite tender. the skin was a little overdone but overall it was not bad.

dessert was a banana walnut cake...

the cake is ok. i requested for an additional scoop of ice cream to go with the warmed up cake.

its a place worth visiting be it in terms of food or to lend a support. we were there 5 mins before 12, there place was relatively empty but by 12.10 pm, the place was full!

Fat Boy's

after work, arranged to meet amanda for dinner at Fat Boy's

amanda had a breakfast thingy..

which out of the whole plate, she only had the bacon! haha.. i kapok her hashbrown which was good. a bit of the sausage which was ok.

for me, i had a customised burger!

i had a beef and chicken patty, bleu cheese sauce, arugala, portobello mushroom and it was not worth trying. the chicken patty was really thin. the beef patty was also not thick and not very tasty. the beet root i want was forgotten... the bleu cheese sauce was pathetic in amount which when i wanted extra they wanted to charge :(

but having said that, their service was overall not bad. service staff was courteous.

Coffee Stars by Dao

lunch with wendy, joelle and lea at coffee stars by dao...

our drinks!

i like their drinks! joelle's sour plum had that slight frizzy-ness which i like. my lemongrass also has that slight frizzy-ness. and lea's thai black tea is really good too!

joelle's tom yam soup...

wendy's tom yam...

joelle's pad thai...

generally their thai food is decent, not spectacular. not cheap!

wendy's sun dried tomato pasta...

i actually quite like the sun dried tomato paste.

lea and i shared a beef stew...

the beef was so tender. it was not bad.

and we couldnt get over their spinach lasagne...

its really good but the portion is really small. probably even smaller than a soup bowl and that makes it very not value for money. but its really yummy.

i like coffee stars for its ambiance, its service, their drinks. but i must say they are really pricey considering their portion and what they serve.

Medz

met up with statue and leonard for dinner. was hopping for something light like porridge but my dear boys wouldnt allow. We ended up at Medz...

my attempt to go green... salad!

i actually quite like their roasted vegetables. But i think i would like fresh beetroot a lot better.

but of coz, i can never resist their salted crust roast beef...

its just sooooo good. even statue and leonard agrees with me.

and of coz, not forgetting their mashed potato...

also so so yummy!

statue ordered the sausages...

their sausages are so so. but what i like is the vegetables, cheese and pine nuts they generally add as sides to most of the meat.

duck confit...

the duck confit is pretty good too! crispy skin and tasty meat.

some turkish dish that statue ordered...

overall it was decent though we didnt really finish it. the meat n rice had that very... hmmm.. turkish taste? hahaha

and some sizzling chicken dish....

nicer when consumed hot.

leonard is really a fish person i realised. haha.. this is his salmon...

which is overall not bad.

desserts! apple walnut cake....

made warm and i added a scoop of ice cream (ice cream is damn expensive).. yummy with the ice cream!

statue's hazelnut cake...

its not bad. the hazelnut crust within.

leonard's blackforest...

normal.

panna cotta...

with a layer of strawberry on top. its pretty good. i guess its coz i like panna cotta in general! haha
