Dinner at Morton's The Steakhouse (level 4, Oriental Hotel)..
When i went into the restaurant, i told the lady host my name. She misheard me as Joe (coz there was apparently another patron who made reservations under that name... which part of me looks like a Joe? but ok, fine, i understand names can be a bit gender ambiguous at times). I told her no and i told her my name again (second time) and i have reservations for 3 pax. She obviously wasnt concentrating on what i was saying because again, she asked if im Joe. I had to tell her no again and i said i'm June (third time). And den she came up wif some other name. From the way her eyes were drifting to whoever was behind me, her computer and to the side, its pretty apparent she still wasnt concentrating and i told her for the fourth time, my name is JUNE. I was actually quite pissed and i asked her.. " are you listening or do you think there's something wrong with my pronunciation? " I guess that made her seriously concentrate on what i said for once and soon, i got my table.
the interior...
we were first served the warm bread....
we were seated at a spot where its brighter den my first visit so pics are clearer...
and the server came over to introduce the different vegetables, potatoes and cuts of beef they had...
the big den normal vegetables...
the different cuts of beef...
the huge lobster...
for starters, we had oysters (can't remember the price and didnt pay for this so receipt is not with me.. lionel if u're reading this, can u leme koe the price?)...
a closer up view...
overall, the oysters were fresh.
And we had a crab cake ($30)...
a closer up view...
filled with big pieces of crab meat. REAL CRAB MEAT!
another pic of it...
I like it! Its crab meat is fresh and yummy. But i'd think the price is abit steep for its portion.
for mains, Aloy had their prime rib (cant remember if its $95 or $99)....
done medium rare...
their prime rib is SO GOOD. Its served warm and its very tender, very juicy and the beef taste was very strong! Very delectable! Portion was pretty good as well.
Meina and i had the double cut fillet mignon (think its around $79)...
done medium rare also...
comparing the prime rib and the fillet mignon, the prime rib was tastier (but has more fats). The fillet mignon was still as tender as previously. portion was good as well.
The steak over here is really of a significant difference from elsewhere.
we ordered hash browns to share (think its around $18)...
a closer up view...
the hash brown was pretty hard. It was even 'uncuttable' using our steak knife. I refuse to believe that this is the very tasty hash brown that Lionel and Kelvin told me about. I smsed Lionel and asked him if the hash brown is actually hard throughout. Lionel replied saying only the corners are and that the centre is actually pretty soft and abit oily, somewhat like rostti.
Comparing what we had to what Lionel described, it seriously is quite different so we decided to check with the server if their hash brown was supposed to be like this. The manager came over we asked if the hash brown is supposed to be hard. He said crispy and we told him its actually hard throughout so we just wanted to check if this was the usual standard. The manager immediately offered to redo the dish for us though we were just checking.
The new hash brown they served us ....
Indeed much better!
Now this looks more like what Kelvin and Lionel would say is nice. It does taste like rostti and its quite pepperish.
The manager den came over to inform that the hash brown will be on the house. That was a gesture i didnt expect because i thought their effort of doing up a new plate for us was good enough.
After awhile again, the manager came over and informed us that desserts will also be on the house. Wow, that was of coz totally unexpected as well and we really appreciated that gesture.
The desserts we ordered....
the bigger one in front is the raspberry souffle (not sure of the price). The server divided it into 3 portions for us...
the white colour one was some cream which i didnt quite catch the name. But it was a little sweetened. The raspberry was warm and VERY SOFT! It was quite different. Not bad.
And of coz, we had to have their signature warm chocolate cake....
the chocolate oozing out...
... bringing about another stream of orgasm *oopz*. lol
Thank cute Aloy for the treat and ride hm!
