Ya Kwang

Brought the nuasters for dinner at Ya kwang at geylang lorong 37.

the chef the other time didnt seem to be around and remember the last time round we went there were rumours of shifting and not shifting.. well, i checked they said the chef is still the same though i don't see him around.

anyway, we shared the char kway tiao...

it was ok, similiar to the previous time.

i was dying to have the salted egg crab i saw the other table having the last time i was here but they said they no longer have them *cries buckets*.

they recommended some cream sauce prawns instead...

it was.. ok.. actually i didnt really like it but i won't say its not nice. the sauce was just.. a bit sour...

the lala ban mian..

which is not bad this time round. in fact i think its nicer than the previous time.. the soup or sauce is much tastier.

they didnt have any lobsters for today so the server proposed crayfish....

it STINKED. literally stinked! its so smelly.. i think its not fresh at all.

the prawn paste chicken...

which was crispy.. not too bad.

some pork dish..

a bit cold but generally ok.

Cafe Swiss

Dinner with Ishan and Joey at swissotel the stamford's cafe swiss....

its service recovery from our unpleasant hotel stay the last time round.

they've got ham....

baked with pastry on the outside, quite special. ham was nice.

and maybe because its cafe swiss, so exciting, they have cheese fondue!!

and some baked forgot-the-name cheese....

this one is sooooo good. i remember trying it at marche some years back.. was so expensive. the cheese is melted and slightly charred ... slightly pungent but i love it! haha.. joey and ishan really liked it as well!

they have a spread of chilled seafood...

their scallops and prawns are so so good! its so fresh! the prawns as well ... so crunchy! i like!

some of their savoury items....

Salads...

TCC

i've been having cravings for pasta ..... tcc's chicken pasta. so today for lunch, i had it with nelly at tcc.

nelly had a broccoli soup....

it was quite ok.. the garlic bread stick that came along with it was quite tasty.

i had the pasta that amanda had on sunday.. some chicken and mushroom in cream sauce... top up $3 and you get smoked salmon...

yum. thick cream with lotsa cheese pasta. its good!

nelly had some salmon miso pasta...

really good as well. i think generally, tcc's savoury food items are pretty good. the funny thing is their desserts suck. haha..

Indulgz Bistro

We decided to adjourn elsewhere for drinks / desserts. Ah Chew was packed and we were looking for somewhere quiet so i brought them to Indulgez.

true enough, Indulgez was very quiet....

im sorry to say this but given my very bad experience at this place, the only reason why i suggested this place was because i know we're only gonna have drinks and i thought you cant go wrong wif drinks and if all else fails, there is always coke. Coke should taste the same universally.

anyway, we didnt stick to the universal drinks and ended up wif the following....

i was attracted to the baileys milkshake....

which i feel dat i have been wrongly charged for. We entered the restaurant after seeing them move in this board stand on happy hours. When ordering, i was seriously contemplating if i should order this baileys drink coz i am somewhat doubtful about it being nice. When i checked on the price, the lady told me specifically it was $12.80 so we decided to order. When the bill came, they charged me ..

$15.90! $3 more and when we tried to clarify, they admitted they quoted us a wrong price because they did not realise it was after happy hours. But, they still charged us the $15.90 for a glass of overly sweet baileys milkshake which i can barely even finish a quarter of it.

fishy was feeling adventurous and went for white wine ($12) ...

it was not nice as per wine lovers fishy & clammy.

crabby went for her usual iced lemon tea ($5.80)...

turned out to be too sour for her liking.

clammy had a flavoured iced coffee at $6.80...

turns out to be the nicest drink for tonight but still not wow-ing.

Generally i find the price of the items here overcharged and im still very very doubtful about how good the food can get. So far aside from Xiaxue, none of whom i know personally who has visited the place has good reviews on their food. I am tempted to try just to know but after today, i think i should just save that money.

that aside, service was relatively polite though i am still feeling sore for the wrong pricing for that baileys milkshake.

Chong Qing Steamboat

the seafoodies gathering for nov 2008 took place today at the liang seah street's Chong Qing Steamboat place.

there are quite a few 'Chong Qing' steamboat places in the area but squiddy said this one is the best.

we chose the soup base of chicken and tom yam....

they have really really HUGE clams....

and their meat balls are almost comparable to La Mei Zi.

when my meatball fell onto the clam shell...

and they haf all of us! crabby, squiddy, fishy, prawny and clammy!

and other meats...

basically they have a good variety of food.

$18 also comes with free flow drinks. For today its chestnut or lime...

i'd say it is really pretty worth it. the only negative thing about this place is how crowded it is.. seats are not as comfortable as the other places.
