Vi'lage

Dinner we went to Vi'lage. Dinner was with sheena, alecc, haoyang and eric.

Sheena was in the mood for food.. haha.. so we shared a half roast chicken (around $5 plus)..

which we barely could finish. the roast chicken isnt fantastic.. pretty mediocre.

half a pork knuckle (around $14 if i recall correctly)....

the pork knuckle was not bad. it was much better den i expected. i rem trying it once wif Aron many years back.. say around 5 years back? that was still marche den and it was really bad... the skin wasnt even crispy at all. But today's one seemed to be much better. of coz, in comparison i'd say Stammtisch's one is much better.

and we also had meatballs....

was kinda hard.. but edible. slightly bigger sized den ikea's but theres no way this can beat ikea's. haha.. its not juicy / tasty enuff.

sheena also ordered a chicken baked rice...

which in my view, sucked! doesnt even look like baked rice.. didnt like it at all.

haoyang had the fish and wedges....

i tried a bit of the fish, it was not bad.

alecc had the fried rice....

i should say, alecc ordered the fried rice.. but he barely touched it. haha.. it wasnt lousy but he didnt really had much appetite and the fried rice seriously wasnt fantastic.

with sheena's voucher, we only paid ard $40 plus.

Raffles The Plaza Szechuan Court Mooncakes

After lunch, we went to collect the mooncakes i ordered from Raffles The Plaza Hotel. The mooncake boxes are so pretty!! they look like its a cheongsam...

the booth outside sze chuan court where i ordered the mooncakes...

the mooncakes....

i ordered 3 peach shaped mooncake with single yolk and macadamia nuts (havent had time to take pictures). one for jim poh, one for K and one for Jeff. Den 3 other boxes which is the mini snow skin lychee and mini snow skin baileys and mini snow skin selection. The mini snow skin lychee and baileys is to be shared wif ah yee while the mini snow skin is also for Jeff.

i sampled their champagne one while i was there and it was SO FREAKING GOOD! too bad i didnt have enuff hands to carry them or i'd buy a box of it right away!

the baileys mooncake...

intially i couldnt quite taste the baileys. but i could taste the baileys one better when i had my second half. hehe..

the lychee mooncake...

i expected the lychee one to be really good but it wasnt quite what i expected so i didnt quite like it. i want the champagne one!!

Yanqing's Shanghai Kitchen

After my graduation ceremony, we went for lunch. Decided on Yanqing's Shanghai Kitchen along Sixth Ave..

the menu....

the starters....

the pickled vegetables were pretty good, so was the peanuts with roasted seaweed.

we had a duck tongue....

it was pretty good. not had enuff duck tongues to be able to do any comparisons actually.

the drunken chicken....

pretty good in the sense that i liked the alcoholic taste.

lotus roots with osmanthus...

a closer up view...

in my view, this dish is one of the more unique items we ordered today. its sweet but not overally sweet. and the osmanthus form of sweetness was really good. the lotus roots was not the crunchy kind, more of the soft kind. i liked it.

prawns in salted egg....

also another rather unique dish. it was not bad but not exactly wow-ing. the shrimps were really crunchy as well.

the stewed pork buns....

mediocre.

lobster xiao long bao.. $8!

tastes alright but not amazing.

i ordered this dish wrongly thinking its rice....its xo seafood noodle...

while it was alright, i didnt quite like it. the whole meal came up to around $88 for 4 of us.

Delhi

I went for dinner with Keith. He told me about this indian restaurant some time ago and gave his recommendations. Its located along race course road (walking distance from little india mrt station). Its kinda also my belated belated belated birthday dinner with him. haha

Delhi Restaurant....

the interior of the restaurat....

Keith did the ordering.

the papadums.....

i love love love papadums! i even prefer them to prawn crackers. haha.. and there was this green minty sauce which keith really liked. he found it really refreshing.

the garlic naan...

i've not had enuff naans to say if its good or not but generally speaking, i find it ok but not impressive.

the tandoori chicken...

again, dun find it impressive but was ok.

i duno wats the next dish called coz keith did the ordering but its some chicken curry dish....

and its really really good! the sauce was really good, the chicken were all tender. It was not very spicy and i could just drink the sauce like that!

this is another dish which im not sure of the name but its also another curry dish and the meat is fish...

again, its really good. the sauce is nice, not too spicy. the fish was also pretty good.

was already pretty full but keith was worried i've not had enuff so he ordered another vegetable.. cauliflower with potato...

this dish reminds me of Gokul! seafoodies, when are we going back to Gokul?? haha.. anyway, this dish was just mediocre... Gokul's is much nicer.

thank cute for the treat keith!

Crossroad Kopitiam

lunch was with the newbies. We went over to the Crossroad Kopitiam along tanjong katong road. Its located near the punggol nasi lemak and the munchy donuts along that stretch.

this stall was previously introduced to me by Xinyan and Joseph. Joseph packed this as lunch for me on his last day of work....

most of us ordered the chicken noodles...

as soon as the noodles arrived, the fragrance of the noodles filled the air. and the chicken was really tender, noodles were springy and tasty. its cheap and good!

also had their wanton soup...

was not bad as well.

Shin Kushiya

We had lotsa time to spare .. ah yee and uncle sq wanted to eat and they selected shin kushiya....

the interior of the place....

i was too full from my lunch and was quite determined not to eat until ah yee and uncle sq pointed to something from the menu and raved about how this item is really nice when they tried it in japan. so i just had to have one of it as well. its the Onsen Tamago...

the menu wrote that its " fresh chicken egg semi-cooked in hot spring water, served chilled with homemade special sauce " duno how true for the spring water part.. but it really is nice.

According to uncle sq and ah yee, the one they had in japan looked very delicate and there was very little soya sauce.. u can finish it all in one mouth. i'm salivating at their descriptions!!

salmon sashimi....

and the grilled items they ordered...

ah yee and uncle sq compared it to Kazu's and they prefer Shin's. They felt that Kazu's one has too much seasoning resulting in the taste of the different items to taste pretty much the same - pepperish. Shin's one u can really taste the meat though.. so they prefer this. i tried the pork.. and i kinda agree with them

uncle sq had a rice with saba fish.. typically, i'd give the pics of the rice a miss but their rice really deserves some attention. the rice is very fragrant and made even nice with the radish bits on top....

its really good! so good u can eat it on its own.. hahaha... well, u get the idea!

and the saba fish....

the saba fish is sooooo good!! its juicy and not dry! and tasty!!

the whole meal came up to around $58. service was pretty good as well. ah yee treated.. thank cute!

The Sweet Stone Parad Ice

After the service, we decided to head for lunch and somewhere cheap was the lead. We decided to head to the army market coz i heard dar and jing hua mention about some fondue place there.

it was not hard to locate the fondue stall.. just... follow the queue.....

The Sweet Stone Parad Ice...

uncle joo who was staying nearby also came to join us... and he had the honour of queuing for us. hehehe... in fact, coincidentally, idol was also meeting him so idol joined us as well and ah yee and uncle sq also drove down to meet us! suddenly it was like some gathering!

uncle joo ordered the fondue with the waffles and 2 ice cream...

the 2 ice cream flavours were chocolate and splenduloo...

the chocolate ice cream was really nice! even i, someone who doesnt really go for chocolate ice cream think its nice!

i was actually the one who chose the splendourloo (actually i cant really remember the actual spelling). the first mouth tasted a bit.. weird. subsequently it tasted better but i dun particularly like it.... we couldnt make out what flavour it is also.

the waffle...

the waffle was alright.. some parts of it was sweet like there was crushed sugar. i like those parts.

dipping it into the chocolate sauce...

the whole thing came up to around $18.

Happy Western Grills

Also from the army market...

From Happy Western Grills....

fried chicken...

it was mediocre...

ham, sausage and eggs...

again, mediocre and the fried rice was not nice.
