Western - Marmalade Pantry (First visit)

The Marmalade Pantry! Located at Palais Renaissance, level B1....

a rather urban yet quiet place.

Actually, its only upon arrival that Jo and myself realised we've known this place for years .. as in we've seen it ard just never came down.. we used to patronise the DKNY cafe located inside the DKNY boutique at level 1. They used to serve a very yummy club sandwich but the DKNY cafe is no longer there.

Here's what we ordered...

Soup of the day.. Mushroom soup...

Very good! Even Jo (the quite hard to please kind) said its very nice.. so u better believe its really nice. hahahhaa...

i ordered.. foie gras!!!! My long awaited foie gras!! I've been craving for it for few weeks already!!

Foie gras is always good! haha..

Jianliang ordered the chicken pot pie under the recommendation i got from lil bee and lea, to share....

Its super duper darn good i tell u! The chicken is so tender and the sauce is just wooo hooo~~!

Jo, being the miss deep fried, ordered the beef burger dat came with fries when she saw some other patrons eating it... because it really looks so appetising....

when the burger came and i tried to take a picture...

haha.. ya.. she was too eager to eat her fries to leme take a picture... she said the fries was fabulous!

The beef burger...

Its great! The thick thick beef patty kind dat I LIKE! hehe...

And i ordered the beef tenderloin under lil bee n lea's recommendation.....

they only told me its super nice but they din tell me the serving is super small loh... haha.. but honestly, its really super nice! U think its just a normal piece of tenderloin but leme tell u.. the seasoning is ma ma mia~~~ Everyone agreed its really nice.... Never really tried such seasoning before!

Jianliang ordered some grilled chicken duno what thingy...

Not bad...

Dessert we shared a sticky date toffee pudding....

it was not bad but i much prefer the sticky date pudding from Broth(dat one eat already will orgasm one.. hehe)

I bought a cupcake for myself home also!!

lil bee said their cupcakes are quite famous but sadly the one we all badly wana try called Nutella - chocolate cake with nutella frosting was not available!

According to the server, their cupcakes sell very well... usually after the noon, there wun be much left!

Buffet - Masonic Club

Today, am meeting up with the seafoodies for lunch at The Masonic Club. Dad was given 10 complimentary lunch dining vouchers after he ordered catering from them previously for granny's birthday buffet.

This is the voucher.

Initially, i was kinda skeptical about the place coz firstly, im not sure where it is. When i called up to check on the location on 2 occassion, the servers were pretty friendly though. Secondly, to have so many free vouchers and for it to be worth $20, i believe i shouldnt expect much.

We arranged to meet up at Peninsular Hotel because i was told its very near to the hotel. Address is 23A Coleman Street. After we got to Peninsular Hotel, i called the restaurant again. The person-in-charge was very nice.. he offered to pick us up from the central fire station which is located nearby. But in the end, we did find the place!

As we were walking over, Elyn said this place was actually featured on television before... because fort canning is nearby, couples after their ROM actually hold their celebration here after their ceremony. I felt much better hearing that coz dat probably means the food can't be dat bad. Though its free, i also wouldnt want my seafoodies to eat not tasty food you know.

So yeah.... this is the place!

and just as we were going up, we saw the manager at the entrance ready to head out to meet us! how nice.

The interior of the restaurant....

Upon entering, it gave me a very old english feel.. like its some old english club. Pretty nice.

We got there around 2 pm? There was not much of a crowd there. In fact, there's only another group which were there most probably after some ROM ceremony.

The rest of the seafoodies were all famished when we got there.. so while i sat on the table to look after our things, they went to check out the food spread.....

They brought back plates of food where we placed them in the middle of the table and shared....

We were actually impressed by the taste and the spread of food.. there was ham, sashimi, sushi, pasta, grilled fish, popiah, chee cheong fun, chwee kueh, mee siam, yam buns, black pepper prawns, chicken masala, bai zhan ji, fruits, fried rice, cakes, mango pudding, and some others which i can't really remember.

Their grilled fish was our favourite.. it was reallllllly good! It was also because of the fish dat we kinda got into some unhappy incident wif the other table. What happened was when they refilled the fish, i went to get the fish... so i took an empty plate, went to scoop up the fish. Each time they replenish the items, because there wasnt dat much of a crowd, the refill portion is not alot (by not alot i mean they dun refill the whole tray.... The quantity they refill is about....

this amount.... but its definitely enuff.

We were pretty satisfied with the meal. In fact, we felt dat even if we had to pay $20 (the actual value of the buffet) for it, it was still worth it. Food was seriously not bad.

Diane had fun trying to make the DIY popiah.....

Erm.. abit sadly, her popiah skin was kinda torn by the time she completed it. I had taught her step by step how to actually wrap the popiah and check out the amount of garlic she added!

Spicy~

Her second attempt was much better though the popiah turned out to be square.....

haha...

I took these pics when i accompanied Diane out for her smoke... just to show u guys (especially ping jie jie who's going for the buffet pretty soon) roughly where its near....

Its right beside the central fire station actually.... along the same stretch where excelsior is located.

A hearty meal!

Hooha

Went down with Humbert and his uncle to some place ard Pasir Panjang.

This particular artifical vine of strawberries attracted me....

The whole stretch actually has a couple of other pubs patronised by alot of caucasians... there were a couple of caucasian kids playing at the pool table at the pub we were at....

There was also a restaurant along the stretch called Hooha. According to Humbert's uncle and Kenneth, the steak from that place is fabulous. And since Humbert and myself havent had dinner, his uncle asked us to order something. Humbert chose their duno what famous steak......

He chose fries as his sides while i chose baked potato....

Humber took pics of the interior of the steak....

Can you see the thickness? can you see the rare parts? Its ooOoooo... so good! Humbert said the steak will bOooing bOOoing one!!

Japanese - Curry Favour

We found our way to Stamford House, Curry Favor.

here's pics of the surrounding....

Gives you an idea where Stamford House is located eh?

Along with each main course is either a soup or salad....

The soup is miso soup and the salad is with Japanese dressing....

We also ordered an appetiser.. Beef Yaki....

It is OH SO SO SO SO SO GOOD! SUPER DUPER UBER TENDER! Love it to the bits! Sadly its only a small portion.

For mains, we had Pork Katsu Curry and Chicken and Ebi Katsu Curry....

Humbert thinks its nice, i think its ok only. Ma Maison's pork curry rice is much nicer in my view..

For Curry Favor, the curry sauce is served seperately ....

Pour as you desire!

HongKong Cafe - Shi Nai

Supper at Shi Nai...

The service was not very good. Not dat they were impolite or anything but they kept getting orders wrong. Not just for our table but we also saw them mixing up and giving wrong orders to the other tables.

Anyway, the club sandwich looked good but tasted alright. Not bad just not marvellous enuff.

Fast Food - Pepper Lunch

Dinner at Pepper Lunch...

Lea, Jack and myself all had he Yawaraka Loin Steak under my recommendation. Its the most tender steak from Pepper Lunch. But somehow, today's steak wasnt as tender as usual. Humbert had the steak and chicken combo.

Western - Tea Cozy

Dinner at Tea Cosy located at Plaza Singapura....

On first glance, the place would look like some vintage store. Which in some sense, it is. But its also a restaurant!

This is the interior of the place.....

I think generally, it would appeal more to the ladies.

Their menu...

and their china....

The server was very patient and helpful in explaining some of their dishes to us....

We placed our orders and first to arrive were the drinks.....

Ah mah pig (Joanna) and mummy gorzilla (Elica) ordered the set meal which came with either soup or salad.......

i ordered one of their starter to share.. yes.. the foie gras!!!!!!!

It came in 4 small chunks, served on a spoon with a small slice of orange and some duno wat vege. NICE! after one mouth, im yearning for more foie gras! haha.. this dish costs ard $9+.

For mains, Miss Piggy (Lyndi) and myself ordered the Surf & Turf. Its steaf with prawns......

The taste was not bad though the steak isnt fantastic but edible. Price was ok... around... $18 plus if i recall correctly.

As for ah mah pig (Joanna) and mummy gorzilla (Elica), the main course for their set meal is Prawn Pasta in Laksa Cream....

They were expecting it to be more creamy but turns out dat its just laksa cooked with pasta. hahahhaa... Costs ard $19 plus for the whole set meal

Dinner was not bad.

After the mains, we were wondering whether to order desserts from here or go over to Gelare. I walked over to their revolving glass display to check out their mini cakes sampler.....

total of 7 pieces i think.....

from wat i recognised, think they've got tiramisu, cheesecake, brownie and duno wat cakes. Costs around $5.50.

The mini sampler cakes are really small though so we decided we'll head over to Gelare.
