La Villa

it was sort of a promotion celebration lunch for me and the bosses. We decided to do it at La Villa where they had actually sponsored us for the recent No Sales Day.

we were first served the complimentary bread....

served warm and there was olive oil n vinegar available for our desires.

La villa has a very very beautiful setting...

its outdoor seats are like a cosy garden which i forgot to take pictures of. But the place is beautiful. Sherlyn liked it a lot.

we shared a starter of calamari...

the calamari may look thin but its actually pretty nice. nicely spiced and fried and chewy level is just right!

a seafood pasta...

tastes like vongole and its got that pleasant and flavoursome clam taste in its sauce. Yummy!

the braised veal cheeks ...

it tasted fine but i preferred the other dishes. the veal taste was kinda covered by the sauce. i guess texture wise i preferred thicker versions of the meat.

a pizza that was kinda customised for us coz shida doesnt take bacon....

its mushrooms and truffles. the truffle smell was strong and it was good! thin crust with an egg in the middle. had that Oomph!

and the angel hair lobster pasta...

this is also really good. i remember coming by a few days back not for meals and i smelled them cooking the stock... totally salivating!

it was a delightful lunch compliments of CY.

and we also shared a tiramisu...

delightful

Alforno

Dinner with Robin at Alforno

we shared a starter of the beef carpaccio...

which was not bad but not to Robin's liking.

for mains, he went for some seafood cream sauce penne...

i must say its really good. the seafood cream sauce was really pleasant and delightful. It was light yet it had that seafood tinge in it. i liked it.

my vongole was also really good....

the clams in white wine sauce was fragrant and flavoursome. yummy!

desserts....

i wasnt too impressed with the desserts. i guess i generally like my panna cotta plain n not with chocolate sauce. haha

Nandos

before i left for gym today, was chatting with fishy and saphy and she talked about Nandos chicken at bugis. i remember hearing amanda speak about it too so we fixed a date to head down today after our gym! Lydia came to join us after her hair dye.

gym effectively finished around 8 plus 9 but the queue was still freaking long. got me wondering, is this nandos really that good? haha

we shared a chicken liver starter. saphy had a spicy palate and wanted the super hot one... lai si wo le!

but the chicken liver was actually really nice!

and for sides, we shared the couz couz salad, the coleslaw and the baby potatoes with lime leaves...

the couz couz was really crunchy but i really liked the baby potatoes. its quite special with the lime leaves and all.

den the chicken....

we ordered a whole to share. one side was the very spicy one and the other was mild. the chicken was nice and even the breast parts were really tender. saphy really liked it while i didnt find it impressive. nice but not impressive.

we also shared a hummus...

long while since i had it and saphy said she's gona bring me to some arab street place for good hummus! haha

it was good company and nice food!

Hairloom Caramel Cafe

for lunch today, fishy, crabby and myself decided to go over to caramel cafe coz i was craving for their fish roe pasta!

this place really has weird hours! they only open at 12 and close by 8. last order is 7! i wonder how they really make money! haha

we shared a creme brulee before our meal started. it was so good we polished it off way before i remembered to take a picture of it!

my favourite pasta of this season!

love that fish roe texture and that mild lemon taste. its really very good!

also tried their tiramisu....

and bread and butter pudding....

both of which i didnt find very impressive.
