Esmirada

Dinner with Jeffrey to celebrate his birthday. We went to Esmirada @ Orchard Hotel.

the interior of the restaurant....

our table....

we shared a Swordfish Carpaccio ($17)...

the menu reads... nest of rocket salad & marinated cherry tomatoes refined with a balsamic vinaigrette and roasted pine-nuts on thinly shaved prime filet of swordfish.

a closer up view...

there was actually also cheese... the type of cheese i like. overall this dish is really good. the pine nuts really added flavour to it. and i personally like wild rocket.

we also shared a Panella Espanola ($29.50)...

a closer up view...

the menu reads that its famous spanish saffron rice specialty served with chicken & seafood. The ingredients, especially the seafood is pretty fresh. the rice tasted alright. Jeffrey liked this dish. But at $29.50 for this dish, it does feel quite steep.

the chicken kebab ($27)...

its actually a whole chicken so its different chicken parts...

ok, $27 for a whole chicken is really expensive in my view. But i guess coz its Esmirada, it kinda explains why the price. The chicken was ok.. but it came with 2 side sauce like thingy (forgot to take pics). One was salsa, the other is a cucumber-ish thingy. the cucumber-ish thingy was really good!

this dish also came with a baked potato.

and although we were really full, a cake is a must since we're celebrating Jeffrey's birthday. Melting moments ($12)....

a closer up view...

i believe i did order this the past 2 times i was at Esmirada as well. Its the kind of chocolate cake with hot chocolate fudge that oozes out. Esmirada's rendition is really good. There are prunes by the side and it comes with maple walnut ice cream. Sheer heaven!

oh! and they haf Ratatouille on their menu! but we didnt order since we realised we both dun take bell peppers. Noticed that the garlic bread they haf is baguette served in baskets standing tall. Probably will order it if we head back.
