Morton's Steakhouse

Celebrated Jo's birthdat at Morton's Steakhouse located at The Oriental Hotel...

Took one of their mints from the cashier counter..

the texture of the mint is quite special. Its abit powderish yet sticky. Not quite like ur usual mints.

The interior of the place....

when we got a table, we were first served their onion loaf....

its a big loaf that's too much for the both of us. Its served warm. At some parts of the loaf, u'll be able to taste abit of the onion.

their menu...

a server den came around with a trolley to give a brief introduction of the different cuts of meat and sides they have to offer....

the meats...

the vegetables...

they all look so BIG and FRESH. Wanted to order them but Jo doesn't take vege.

Jo ordered a New York Strip Steak ($86)....

she requested for it to be medium....

the server was telling Jo that they specially charred the top for her. Initially, we thought its supposed to be some usual practice or its supposed to make it nicer but den i seriously didn't like the charred part. Its like chow tar! Spoils the taste of the steak. The portion was pretty big though. Its actually enough to be shared by 2 pax.

I ordered the fillet mignon upon ($79) Lionel and Kelvin's strong recommendations....

requested it to be medium rare....

it was a big thick juicy piece. Very yummy!

Also recollecting Lionel and Kelvin's blog entries, i recalled that they had hash browns and it looked totally delectable. What's more, its fried so i reckon Jo would love it. However, our hash browns came like this...

I tried checking with the server to confirm if this is hash brown because i didnt recall it looks like this but i wasnt sure. Also, this doesnt look like any normal hash brown at all. When i got home, i showed Lionel this pic and he confirmed for me that the picture is not that of their hash brown.

The taste of this item was ok. Abit on the oily side. Not something i'd like to try again.

Although we were both pretty full after the meal, i didnt want to miss the chance to try their legendary hot chocolate cake coz kelvin and lionel kinda raved about it.

the hot chocolate cake...

the chocolate fudge oozing out...

a closer up view...

all i can say is.. WOW WOW WOW! haha..

Jo treated for the meal. Thank cute best friend!

If you like molten chocolate cakes, you have to try the one at One-Ninety, Four Seasons. It's slightly smaller than the one at Morton's but tastes more refined in my opinion. It's also served with citrus sorbet instead of ice-cream making it less heavy. Prices are quite reasonable there, it goes for around 12 dollars which is way cheaper than Morton's too. I feel that their wagyu burger at 48 is also the best in Singapore, beats uber burger's 101 handsdown.
