When Meixin asked me for suggestions for my birthday treat, i gave her a few options and she chose Perle Noire after reading Lionel's blog.

The entrance of the place.. if it helps, its located right beside the famous Cheesecake cafe.
Alfresco dining on the outside... i totally love the ambience...
the interior of the place....
The ambience inside is also very fine... dim lighting and beautiful jazz pieces playing in the background.
their menu....
we were first served some buns....
the buns were served pretty hot. Also, its very fragrant. Meixin loved it.. i did find it pretty good as well.....
After my Greenwood experience, i couldnt get my mind off fresh oysters. Was raving to Meixin about it too. So naturally, we ended up ordering fresh oysters coz Perle Noire has quite a selection... They've got those from Canada, Australia and France. But we ordered one each but i think the France one was not available today so it was one Canadian oyster and one Aussie oyster....
can't quite remember which is which.. i think the smaller and darker one is from Canada and the longer and brownish one is from Aussie (if i recall correctly). Kinda prefer the smaller, darker one. Its sweeter in a way. The lighter, brownish one is quite saltish, didnt like that. prices range from $2.95 - $3.95. The France ones range from $5.95 to $7.95.
next thing we ordered was the foie gras ($22.95)....

the cut up view...
the foie gras was a little over cooked by the side but overall it was pretty alright. The avocado rice was really good with mayo and avocada. The salad by the side also went very well with me. i liked the dressing.
My mains was naturally, without a shadow of doubt, the Yorkshire Pork Rack ($28.95). It was raved by Lionel and Leslie on their blogs respectively as the MUST TRY....

the cut up portion....
now, u've just got a third blog, to rave about it being a MUST TRY! Every bite is a mouthful.. every mouthful is juicy and tender! Its definitely is one of the best pork i've had and i highly recommend it. As you can see, the sauce is a cream based sauce which is not too thick and the big pieces of black things u see is actually prunes. Meixin liked it as well.
Meixin's mains was the Filetto De Manzo (Tenderloin) ($30.95)...
she ordered it medium rare....
Its australian beef tenderloin fillet stuffed with fresh succulent oysters, wrapped with smoked bacon, accompanied by roasted potatoes and vegetables served with red wine sauce.
Overall this dish is fine but i felt that the sides where it was wrapped wif smoked bacon had the bacon taste overpowering the beef so you cant taste much of the beef. But the oyster part was pretty good.. went pretty well with the beef....
for desserts, we shared a brownie with ice cream ($10.95)...
the brownie was served hot and went well wif the ice cream..brownie is a little chewy.. overall was just ok. I felt its a little too pricey for the portion. its a very very small piece.
Overall, the whole dining experience was good. The service was great, food was fine (the pork rack was EXCELLENT) and company was wonderful. Thank cute Meixin for the birthday treat!

You are welcome... Glad to be able to celebrate your birthday after so many years =)

I was actually afraid to order the tenderloin because of the oysters. I haven't actually had good carpetbag steaks and the oysters that I had the first time round here wasn't encouraging at all. Otherwise, this would have been something I would have wanted to try. But it seems that all is good.
