Once you arrive, u gotta climb up a long flight of stairs...
(this is just part of the stairs)
halfway thru is the chill and wine section....
above is the restaurant....
the outdoor seats.....
leading indoors......
the inside seats....
the menu.....
I first heard about it from Cynthia and when i checked out their website, it was like love at first sight... the whole place is so beautiful.. a wineyard inspired deco.. hence i requested for my birthday dinner to be here.
its a very fine dining place. the servers are all very very attentive. We noticed from the way we kinda shifted and changed seats, they immediately came over to change our drinks for us! goes to show how they are observing our table for our every needs. i was kinda impressed.
and the server would actually go one by one to take orders and collect back the menu..... she was very friendly and polite..
and when loh gong zai ordered the kangaroo and wanted to opt for medium, she highly recommended it to be medium rare and when loh gong zai insisted, she gave him the option of ordering medium rare den if he doesnt like it, she can send it back for him.
the complimentary free flow bread....
deanie and dar ordered soup.....
Deanie ordered the seafood soup... it was pretty good. Clear soup wif a rather geneous serving of seafood .. the soup had this fresh seafood taste. yummy!
dar shared a beef soup.. it was also very flavoursome wif a good amount of beef. MMM~
deanie also ordered fresh oysters to share...
deanie was joking saying that the oysters were so fresh u can taste the sea! haha
for starters, dar ordered the foie gras ($28)....
its pan fried.. with morello cheeries salsa, blinis and beetroot cress. the foie gras were thinly sliced but there was quite a few pieces. was good!
loh gong zai ordered the carpaccio of hokkaido scallops ($26)....
served wif fresh artichokes, citrus dressing and seaweed twist. the scallops were also sliced and served raw.
Baked Alaskan King Crab Souffle ($25)....
served wif lobster bisque... the lobster bisque smelled so good... the souffle was soft... my only complain is i cant taste the texture of the crabs.. i mean its there but i'd love to feel the texture. Kendi ordered the same item as me.
oh.. and the server would actually come round asking if we need pepper and andy made me take a pic of the pepper coz its a very big container...
raymond ordered the salad of grilled marinated baby octopus ($25)....
with mesclun, enoki, cheery tomatoes and chilli jam. Raymond liked it and was raving about how good it is. I found it a lil too spicy for my liking.
for mains, raymond had the slow roasted half duckling ($38)....
its served with sweet potato and cumin mash, steamed broccolini, braising jus. Again, Raymond was raving about it being very good and this time, i cannot help but agree wif my thumbs up. It was so good!! the meat is tender and juicy.. and the skin is sinfully crispy and good.
dar, andy and jiamiao went for the roasted black cod ($36)...
the cod fish is nice, served wif teriyaki sauce, roasted butternut pumpkin and wilted tatsoi.
kendi and i ordered the Grilled grain-fed beef tenderloin ($39)...
another view of it....
i ordered it medium rare....
its served with crispy potato and gruyere cake, wilted spinach and hazelnut jus. the hazelnut jus is SO GOOD! its got lotsa crunchy hazelnut and the taste was good. pretty special i'd say.. the beef, most of them found it very tender, i found it just ok.
deanie ordered the seared paperbark scented petuna ocean trout ($36)...
turned out to be salmon.. and its only from the pic dat i realised its served wif black ink risotto.. deanie was seated too far from me to take a good look. but i tried the fish.. it was salmon and the surface is pan fried while the inside was still raw... very good!
salivating yet? haha
loh gong zai ordered the grilled kangaroo loin ($39)...
with yam fritters, wilted baby rockets and rosella flower glaze.
overall, the food here is good though pricing is steep coz its fine dining after all.
as we were leaving, the long flight of stairs down....

The seared paperbark scented petuna ocean trout looks good. Your description of the hazelnut jus got me interested in the steak too.
but u may not like the beef... the hazelnut jus is good though.
eh.. didnt u join ailian they all the other day?
nope, I had wine appreciation at Eden Cafe that night, couldn't make it to Kelvin's dinner.
What's with the beef?
its fine.. just now as tender as i would like it
Hi, I just came across your interesting & informative blog. :)I think you might have mistaken the trout for salmon though. Trouts have pink flesh like salmon, and belong to the same family of Salmonidae.
hey, thanks for the information. i never realised that.. so trout is the name of a fish as well?
