Uncle sq and ah yee gave me a birthday treat today. Dinner was at Greenwood Fish Market and Bistro. Its at Greenwood Ave... damn hard to find the place.. we went round and round in circles.. it was very bad.. uncle sq even pui chao nua and commented that next time invite him also he wun wana come. the houses in that area were super HUGE.. uncle sq even said, " what is serangoon gardens compared to this? " hahahha.. the maids there hafta walk not one dog but 4 dogs! and when we tried to ask them for locations, the maids are also more snobbish den HDB maids. haha.. also also also, we saw a ferrari drive past.. den i was commenting.. " eh.. follow la.. maybe he's going to the restaurant also.. " uncle sq replied me.. " people going home leh.. " hahahhaa

after much difficulty going round and round we managed to locate greenwood ave.. its a loop and theres quite a few restaurants in the area.. theres this restaurant that's called Sebastian that looks quite good also.. when we finally got there, uncle sq said... " this is their market " HAHAHHAHAa... " if not u think people staying here eat what? " and so happened there was this Swiss Butchery there.. and uncle sq said.. " see, mai zhu rou (selling pork).. this is their market " HAHAHAHHAA

the stretch....

Greenwood Fish Market and Bistro....

when you first enter, the whole place is like a fish market area....

after you get past this sign would be the seating area...

the seating area.. a very homely feel...

btw, these 5 ladies (most prob tai-tais) reminded me of the seafoodies... haha.. 30 yrs down the road, we must be like them (not the tai tai part) but we must still meet up and gather oki!

we were first served the bread.. people who koe me would all koe, i think bread is a wastage of stomach storage space. This bread however, is SUPER DUPER FRAGRANT AND YUMMILIOUS!

you know how usually i'd probably just pinch a bit of the complimentary bread or maybe add butter and sugar etc and still not finish it, this bread, i requested for a 2nd serving! Its so nice! Its slightly saltish wif some favouring on top and i think they've got something inside also.. uncle sq and i loved it but ah yee said she didnt find it fantastic.. den while talking, uncle sq and i both admitted we're not bread lovers but we find this bread really good.. den ah yee teased.. " this bread got spell " den we got puzzled. She said... " theres a spell in this bread for non-bread lovers " hahahha

and they were having an oysters night promo. With every order of a main course, u're entitled to order oysters at $1, subjected to a maximum of one dozen... so we ordered a dozen....

IT WAS SO SO SO SO SO SO GOOD! VERY FRESH! and tastes simply fabulous! My uncle sq and ah yee usually dun dare to eat oysters but they finished their share today and we even went on to order another dozen!!

the second serving of oysters were much bigger den the first serving and its so fresh i honestly can feel this sweetness after popping it in. im so missing it as im recollecting them.

we also shared a lobster bisque ($13.95)...

it was pretty good. but in comparison i kinda prefer the one by delifrance bistro and jack's place coz the taste is stronger. As per ah yee, i like lobster bisque coz of the hey kor (prawn paste i think) taste.

we also shared a lobster tofu ($14.95)....

the centre one is eggplant....

the lobster tofu...

too bad the lobster piece was not big so after sharing, i didnt manage to try it but the tofu was good!

we also shared a foie gras and sea scallop ($24.95)...

another view...

i think this is by far the most reasonably priced foie gras i've ever eaten. the portion is so big ... its probably double of the portion most restaurants would offer. the price is only $20 odd.. super value for money. taste wise may not be the best but its good enuff. the scallop was also great.

for mains, i ordered a chef's special... black cod wif miso sauce....

i like the cod coz its not too oily.. i feel dat some cod fish makes me feel nauseous after a few mouthful.. this one was not the case.. uncle sq and ah yee seemed to like it even better den me. haha

ah yee had the lobster linguine ($29.95)...

i thot the lobster linguine was just ok. nothing fantastic but uncle sq say the lobster was good. i'd like to try their crab meat vongole the next time.

uncle sq had the fish fillet.. cant remember wat type of fish he chose though....

A closer up view....

it was pretty good.. the fish is medium texture.. not super tender but the texture was good. i liked it actually better den my cod.. but dats just my personal preference.

wana thank cute uncle sq and ah yee for the birthday treat and i tried to ask uncle sq.. " so, after the meal.. next time, are we coming back? " he smiled and said.. " when occassion arises " hahahhaha

overall, a good meal... i'd wana come back again!
