Steamboat - Xian De Lai

Had wanted to try Chong Qing because i heard its cheap and good but loh gong zai said air condition would be preferred so we headed over to Xian De Lai....

Located along Liang Seah Street.

The interior of level one has an emperor robe hung up...

Buffet dinner is at $17.80 plus plus per person.

We got seats at level 2...

They have added fittings to decorate the place since our last visit. However, the table is actually quite lousy..

it is those square tables which you can flip the four sides to make it into a circle but the flips are all not stable.

The sauces are self service and placed by the side...

i personally like the creamy coloured sauce. Its abit of peanut taste, abit saltish. I quite like it.

The soup base we chose....

One is their special duck soup and another is their spicy soup.

Some of the food items they have....

Aside from the regular items which most other steamboat places would also have, i would mention a few of the items that i particularly like. I like their special meat balls. Its pretty nice. Also, i like their inclusion of luncheon meat. Goes very well when cooked in soup, doesnt taste so saltish. I also find the shanghai nian gao quite nice with the creamy peanut sauce. The nian gao on its own is actually pretty tasteless so you may not like it. Their wanton is also very very tasty. The rest of the items are pretty regular items but overall items are very fresh and nice. Fulfilled my steamboat cravings!
