Seafood - The Manhattan Fish Market

Dinner tonight is at The Manhattan Fish Market located at level 6 of Plaza Singapura....

The entrance of the place...

the interior...

they also have a tv showing the underwater life...

their menu...

Most people would have known or noticed that this place is resemblance to Fish & Co. so its inevitable that along the way, we'll make comparisons.

First thing dat was served to us was the condiments...

the fresh chopped garlic, mayo (not in pic) and chilli sauce. The girls complained that the chilli sauce tastes like chicken rice chilli sauce..

This place has both chowder of the day and soup of the day.

Chowder of the day is Seafood Chowder ($4.90)....

I would say the seafood chowder tasted just alright. The seafood in the chowder were of relatively small pieces and although i didnt find it stale, i didnt find it particularly fresh or tasty either.

Nanny (Meijiao) had the onion soup ($3.90)....

Joanne had the Manhattan Caesar Salad ($6.90)...

and we shared a crispy shrimps ($4.90)...

the crispy shrimps is a saltish dish. The mini shrimps are all deep fried to perfection. The crispy level is just right, tastes absolutely great and its so fun to eat. Love this dish.

Fried country mushrooms ($9.90)...

The mushroom tasted not bad to me. For the rest, they feel that it only goes well when its with the sauce.

Also ordered a Garlic Butter Prawns ($9.90). Mummy gorzilla (Elica) told us the story about her colleague who was sick some days ago yet still got out of her house to satisfy her cravings for the Garlic Butter Prawns. Wow.. is it dat good?

Served in a hot plate..

the sauce is poured in...

the garlic butter prawns...

the garlic butter sauce tastes alot like the garlic lemon sauce over at Fish & Co. The girls find the sauce here nicer. Also, over at Fish & Co., they only serve Garlic Lemon Mussels but over here, they have both mussels and prawns. The prawns are also very crispy.

Mummy gorzilla (Elica) ordered a Chef's Catch Of The Day - Dory ($11.90)...

There is the option of serving it with the garlic rice or chips. This option is also available over at Fish & Co. However, the taste of the rice varies greatly. The rice over at Fish & Co. is tasty and yummy with raisins. However, Manhattan's is abit blend. We much prefer Fish & Co.'s. The dory tasted alright to me but the girls said they prefer Fish & Co.'s fish.

Miss Piggy (Lyndi) ordered the Manhattan Fish & Chips - Alaskan Pollock ($10.90)...

The fish was pretty hard (Lyndi said Alaskan's texture is supposed to be firm) and tasted so very blend. I don't like it at all.

Ah Mah Pig (Joanna) and myself shared a Manhattan Flaming Platter ($29.90).. I can't quite compare the prices of the rest of the items over at Fish & Co. because i cannot remember but i'm pretty certain Fish & Co.'s seafood platter for 2 costs around $30 over.

It is really flaming.....

the platter

Details of the platter...

The fish was ok, not as blend as the fish and chips that Miss Piggy (Lyndi) ordered. The prawns came with a somewhat creamy sour sauce (tastes a lil like warm thousand island) which i didn't quite like. The rice as i mentioned earlier, is quite blend and i much prefer Fish & Co.'s. The calamari is of much smaller sized compared to Fish & Co.'s and results in it being abit too dry for our likings. Instead of included mussels like Fish & Co.'s, their seafood platter has fried oysters which tasted pretty alright.

Overall i would say it was nice to check out a new place. Manhattan does have its own specialty dishes but majority of it in comparision to Fish & Co., is still very weak. For a mild price difference, people would probably prefer to head over to Fish & Co.

Were pretty disappointed with the mains that we didn't stay for desserts.
