Porta Porta

a last minute jio-ing by lionel secured my dinner date for tonight... He and audrey chose the place, Porta Porta along Stanley Street.....

the restaurant was pretty quiet and the interior was very homely in the very english way. its not posh yet it just draws u...

plus, they have a very charming AND handsome server!

i was telling Lionel and Audrey.. " 他不知道自己很帅 meh?一直对我们笑,我会被电到的 loh " haha... ok, im JOKING!.. but he really is a very charming and rather friendly server. Yes ladies out there, drool, DROOL. lol... even Audrey couldnt keep her eyes off him.

complimentary bread.....

wonderful thing about italian restaurants is their bread. i know, i do still think bread is a waste of stomach storage space but i was famished tonight! their bread was ok, the olive oil had mushroom slices inside. not bad.

we ordered one of their set meals which comes wif 2 bruchetta...

the one with tomatoes comes with a garlic sauce. The good looking server brought 2 extra ones along and told us it was on the house... so shuai and so nice, how not to let him catch our attention?!? LOL

anyway, it tasted AMAZING! its a small piece of bread. the sides were CRISPY AND CRUNCH yet the middle was soaked wet wif the garlic sauce and it was served warm. the texture and taste was simply heavenly! SO SCRUMPTIOUS!

the other greenish looking one is also YUMMILIOUS! it tastes a little oyster-ish to me but audrey and lionel said its fish. Its really really good! and i assure u my review has nothing to do with how handsome the server is. hahahhaaha

the set meal also came with a fish soup....

Audrey and Lionel kinda raved about it to me... i didnt really taste the fascination they felt for it.

Squid ink ravioli....

comes with crab meat inside....

also didnt find it impressive but was decent. comparatively, i prefer Modestoes' ravioli.

calamari....

another much raved about item by Audrey and Lionel. About how the batter was tissue paper thin when they previously visited. although it isnt exactly paper thin today, it was GOOD! texture and taste wise, it was really good... and it came wif one prawn! haha.. so cute!

the set also came with desserts.....

tiramisu and apple pie. didnt find the apple pie impressive... just ok. the tiramisu was also ok but probably because its only a small portion served in a chinese tea cup like container.

Audrey and myself didnt go for the set but ordered 2 mains from the ala carte menu. Audrey had some prawn pasta penna....

its really good. the sauce is thick and the flavouring is strong. its nice.

i went for the seafood risotto....

its lighter in taste as compared to the penna but its nice!

overall the food here gives a very homely feel.. its really pretty good and lionel feels dat the food here is very different from those served elsewhere.

the whole meal came up to around $103.
