Yanqing's Shanghai Kitchen

After my graduation ceremony, we went for lunch. Decided on Yanqing's Shanghai Kitchen along Sixth Ave..

the menu....

the starters....

the pickled vegetables were pretty good, so was the peanuts with roasted seaweed.

we had a duck tongue....

it was pretty good. not had enuff duck tongues to be able to do any comparisons actually.

the drunken chicken....

pretty good in the sense that i liked the alcoholic taste.

lotus roots with osmanthus...

a closer up view...

in my view, this dish is one of the more unique items we ordered today. its sweet but not overally sweet. and the osmanthus form of sweetness was really good. the lotus roots was not the crunchy kind, more of the soft kind. i liked it.

prawns in salted egg....

also another rather unique dish. it was not bad but not exactly wow-ing. the shrimps were really crunchy as well.

the stewed pork buns....

mediocre.

lobster xiao long bao.. $8!

tastes alright but not amazing.

i ordered this dish wrongly thinking its rice....its xo seafood noodle...

while it was alright, i didnt quite like it. the whole meal came up to around $88 for 4 of us.

This place doesn't look too bad. Very contemporary chinese style. And I like the salted yolk or XO things.
