Picotine

fChipmunk's birthday celebration at Picotin. We got there pretty early so we walked around a bit...

was telling him about pony rides and i showed him to this area where there were 2 ponies...

den we noticed how there were 2 ponies who were pretty smart, they could actually move out of the area. den we found the pony charging towards us!! initially it was charging towards us and kicking sand onto us... den it charged towards us again and got out of the area! i was in SHOCK! it just never occurred to me that that could happen! Also, given my experience in the polo club, there never was a big issue when the horses walked around me.. but i duno why this pony is just a really angry pony today and we were chased by the pony.....

thank god, no harm done but really quite a funny experience.

we walked back to Picotin for our dinner. When chipmunk asked me to suggest a place, i immediately thought of Picotin where baby joshua had his full month celebration. When i saw this area of Picotin the last time i was here, it was almost love at first sight.....

the whole place just has a very non-singaporean feel. It reminds me of europe, of Perth.. i love it. the only thing about this place is probably the fact that its got lotsa flies and mosquitoes flying around.

we were first served the complimentary bread...

comes with raisins.

service was very good btw.... the staffs were really nice, friendly and attentive.

for starters, chipmunk chose the onion soup...

which was ok.

the foie gras...

3 pieces in all! in terms of portion i'd say its really good. but in terms of taste, it is just ok. it feels like the exterior is actually over cooked resulting in it looking somewhat wrinkled.

for mains, i had the beef stew....

and its ohh-so-GOOD! the beef is so so tender and the portion is good. i love it! it has got the wow factor on me. hehe

chipmunk went for the roast chicken thinking it would just be a small spring chicken only to realise its a huge chicken!

the roast chicken came wif a wine like sauce which was really good! went very well with their mashed potato as well! yum yum!

we were actually pretty full for desserts but went ahead to order coz the servers recommended it.

the creme brulee...

the sticky date pudding...

the creme brulee is a little different from the typical creme brulee i've tried. I.. prefer the typical creme brulee served else where. this one seems to be more like a cake and texture is not like custard.

the sticky date was ok but i conclude that my favourite sticky date pudding is still from Broth. I like how Broth used caramel and sour cream to make wonders. This one from Picotin uses toffee like Marmalade Pantry which i don't really fancy.

all in all, the experience at Picotin proved to be a good one...

we also saw michelle chia! she was so pretty! big hair and long white dress.... beautiful. totally blends in wif the picotin's decor.
