Jing Jing Cafe

We were driving over to Checkers when we drove past Jing Jing (near Maxwell market). We saw that it was still open so we decided to go for Jing Jing instead...

The interior....

Jing jing used to be located along smith street but has since shifted over to the stretch where Maxwell Market, Tong Heng Egg Tarts and Chinatown Party world is.

We ordered milk tea and herbal tea...

duno why im recently into hot milk tea lately (probably under diane's influence). Actually, we had ordered 2 milk tea and 1 herbal tea but the boss got the order wrong.

Anyway, service wasnt very brillant. We had difficulty getting the attention of the boss although there was only 2 tables (including us) of customers. Food took ard 25 mins before they were served and we didnt feel any sense of welcoming or politeness. The food menu was filled words and no picture at all. Pictures were pasted on the walls but with no names below. Even when we asked the lady boss for recommendations of any speciality, she didnt appear too enthusiastic about recommending and merely just pointed to the menu.

mains i had instant noodles with sausage and egg...

i guess its hard to go wrong with sausage. The noodle was quite bland actually. Soup was alright (definitely better den Xin Wang's). But still, homecooked ones probably taste better. Costs around $4.50.

Ah yee had the pork ribs rice....

Details of the pork....

the rice was normal white rice. The ribs taste was alright i guess.

Uncle sq had the spring onion with fish rice...

details of the fish...

notice the fish is very thinly sliced and portion was really small. Also, the fish was quite mashy. Taste was alright.

Desserts wise, the dessert menu was filled with pictures. Uncle sq had the yam paste with ginko nuts....

the yam paste was not bad.

Ah yee and i shared this crushed peanuts with coconut ice and mixed fruits dessert...

Details of it...

this was good. The crusted peanuts went very well with the coconut ice. Love the small round Q balls. Crunchy! The coconut ice was so good.

Overall, only the coconut ice dessert is worth trying. Service was not good. Bill came up to about $35.
