Today, am meeting up with the seafoodies for lunch at The Masonic Club. Dad was given 10 complimentary lunch dining vouchers after he ordered catering from them previously for granny's birthday buffet.
This is the voucher.
Initially, i was kinda skeptical about the place coz firstly, im not sure where it is. When i called up to check on the location on 2 occassion, the servers were pretty friendly though. Secondly, to have so many free vouchers and for it to be worth $20, i believe i shouldnt expect much.
We arranged to meet up at Peninsular Hotel because i was told its very near to the hotel. Address is 23A Coleman Street. After we got to Peninsular Hotel, i called the restaurant again. The person-in-charge was very nice.. he offered to pick us up from the central fire station which is located nearby. But in the end, we did find the place!
As we were walking over, Elyn said this place was actually featured on television before... because fort canning is nearby, couples after their ROM actually hold their celebration here after their ceremony. I felt much better hearing that coz dat probably means the food can't be dat bad. Though its free, i also wouldnt want my seafoodies to eat not tasty food you know.
So yeah.... this is the place!
and just as we were going up, we saw the manager at the entrance ready to head out to meet us! how nice.
The interior of the restaurant....
Upon entering, it gave me a very old english feel.. like its some old english club. Pretty nice.
We got there around 2 pm? There was not much of a crowd there. In fact, there's only another group which were there most probably after some ROM ceremony.
The rest of the seafoodies were all famished when we got there.. so while i sat on the table to look after our things, they went to check out the food spread.....
They brought back plates of food where we placed them in the middle of the table and shared....
We were actually impressed by the taste and the spread of food.. there was ham, sashimi, sushi, pasta, grilled fish, popiah, chee cheong fun, chwee kueh, mee siam, yam buns, black pepper prawns, chicken masala, bai zhan ji, fruits, fried rice, cakes, mango pudding, and some others which i can't really remember.
Their grilled fish was our favourite.. it was reallllllly good! It was also because of the fish dat we kinda got into some unhappy incident wif the other table. What happened was when they refilled the fish, i went to get the fish... so i took an empty plate, went to scoop up the fish. Each time they replenish the items, because there wasnt dat much of a crowd, the refill portion is not alot (by not alot i mean they dun refill the whole tray.... The quantity they refill is about....
this amount.... but its definitely enuff.
We were pretty satisfied with the meal. In fact, we felt dat even if we had to pay $20 (the actual value of the buffet) for it, it was still worth it. Food was seriously not bad.
Diane had fun trying to make the DIY popiah.....
Erm.. abit sadly, her popiah skin was kinda torn by the time she completed it. I had taught her step by step how to actually wrap the popiah and check out the amount of garlic she added!
Spicy~
Her second attempt was much better though the popiah turned out to be square.....
haha...
I took these pics when i accompanied Diane out for her smoke... just to show u guys (especially ping jie jie who's going for the buffet pretty soon) roughly where its near....
Its right beside the central fire station actually.... along the same stretch where excelsior is located.
A hearty meal!
