Bilbao

after work, arranged to meet up with Robing for dinner to check out a spanish restaurant located at Tripleone Somerset.

the place is at level two, called Bilbao...

we were first served a complimentary starter of bread with garlic mayo..

love the garlic mayo!

some sausage platter...

which was decent.

capsicum filled with prawns...

it was ok.. i much prefer serenity's capsicum filled with tuna.

the potato omelette..

this was a little disappointing to me. it was decent, not tat it tasted sucky or what. but serenity's one set the standards way high.

suckling pig...

soft meat, decent skin. not impressive though.

squid cooked in its own ink...

large potatoes.. some kind of potato mashed balls...

hmm .. overall food was just decent for me.

Beppu Ramen

Joelle has been having cravings for Beppu Ramen since last week so we fulfilled her cravings for her today.

she had the crispy chicken ramen, 4 chilli!

lea and i shared a char siew ramen, no chilli...

some how beppu lost their wow factor for me. and today they are out of their fruity iced desserts.

Garden Flowers Korean BBQ

camilia and kaizhi were craving for korean bbq so we chanced upon this place located along tan quee lan street.....

pricing and operating hours...

but apparently, there was some kind of discount today, it was only $11.90. cheap till siao!

they also had some cooked dishes available...

kim chi and beanspouts. both were pretty good. they actually also had chicken wings, fries and japanese seaweed which we didnt take.

the meat and fish etc for bbq....

everything was pretty good!

towards the end of our meal, the chef came to speak to us and kind of taught us how to really eat korean bbq!

he scrapped off the black black parts of our dirty pan...

and he cooked shishamo and bambo clams for us...

chef's cooking is really different...

even display also nicer than ours! haha..

and he said something that really created an impression. it was true that we didnt drink a lot of water during this meal which we usually would for other bbq and steamboat.

oh and btw, drinks are included for this buffet.

Coffee Lounge - Goodwood Park Hotel

for dinner, just as i was recking my head on where to go, JJ said he has been having too much rich food and he wants something light so we decided on goodwood's porridge. just right because im in the teochew porridge craze lately!

was deciding between the buffet or ala carte before he arrived.. usually we'd go ala carte but today i felt like trying more dishes so we decided on the buffet. but i later realised he was right, we should have gone ala carte coz we couldnt really eat that much anymore.. but i still yearned for that variety!

the porridge.. and today we only had one serving each. he would usually have like two! there were just too many dishes! haha

black pepper beef...

hmm.. not impressive. taste was ok but beef wasnt very tender so its not to my liking.

beef brisket...

yummy!!! tender beef cubes and very yummy sauce. love the radish as well!

his favourite chilled beancurd with japanese sauce and pork floss...

yummy too!

lettuce fried in fermented beancurd paste...

would have preferred the kang kong but its not available for the buffet. this is pretty nice as well.

chai por omelette...

super yummy! super fluffy.. my favourite dish!

pork belly..

nice but we could barely finish it.

squid...

cooked in a slightly sweet way. didnt really try it, he liked it.

prawn paste chicken..

decent but have tasted better. again, couldnt finish.

french beans and prawn paste...

yummy! its fried till its really soft, the way i like it. i know some others may prefer it a little crunchy but i like it really soft.

minced meat with salted egg...

insisted on trying this although we were pretty full already. it was nice too! but again, couldnt finish.

but overall, it was a good meal. the next time if i come for ala carte, i would have the chai por omelette, minced meat with salted egg, chilled beancurd, kang kong in fermented beancurd paste and long bean in prawn paste!

oh, there were desserts too but i was too full. they had cakes and fruits and chinese desserts like barley and beancurd skin and mango sago etc.

i had a serving of dragon fruit!

Superdog

got lea to do lunch with me at vivo coz i needed to grab a present for JJ. We went over to superdog!

i had the supreme dog that brian got for me the last time. its yummy! thick juicy sausage with lots of onion and some bacon on the side. i love it! brian loves bacon and we previously joked about him topping up loads on the bacon.

lea had the chilli dog...

she said its nice, a little like the old A&W dog.

we also shared a chilli fries...

today's fries were ok. i prefer the fries i had when i was here with brian. he loved it too.

Sushi Express

Arranged to meet up with shuping and lydia for dinner. Shuping recommended this place called Sushi Express located inside Citylink mall....

also heard Joe recommend this place. their items are all priced at $1.50...

heard from joe they started out from all items at $1 to all items at $1.80 to the current $1.50.

they really do have a good variety of items.

abalone slices...

this is super good! normally im not into abalone but this one is really tasty. its soft and it has a strong taste of abalone.

and my new found love for sushi is saba!!

and check out their big scallop..

yes, only $1.50!

and their roasted salmon...

damn yummy!

Scallop sushi....

which can easily cost around $2.20 elsewhere!

top shells...

sashimi!

and other sushi...

heard from shuping they also have uni! But we didnt see uni today. But we will be back!

and for dessert, there's also the green tea mochi!

the green tea mochi is yummy too!

overall, its a nice place with reasonable pricing. only pick is they don't have ice cubes for their chilled drinks.

the cute sushi icons are figurines they have... apparently they plan to sell them soon and they are soooooo cute!
