very interesting name eh? and i think its so cool they operate 24 hours on weekends.
when i first heard the name, i was pretty intrigued to find out what this shop does. Well, in a short summary, its basically a cafe cum steamboat shop so its true, you really literally only eat, talk and idle! haha
This place only started operations for less than a week. I kinda got to know the owners through my course of work and its motivating to know the owners are two really young entrepreneurs. I think its really cool and they deserve all the support they can get.
they offer a pretty affordable steamboat buffet....
only $15.90 for their steamboat buffet and the place is fully airconditioned.
the crowded started to pick up at around 8 plus...
and they also have a big tv playing hk drama serials....
suits Diana just fine! haha
i simply couldnt resist ordering their side orders of the seaweed chicken ($2.80)....
diana and i love it! hehe
they have 4 different soup bases for their steamboat with the satay sauce base being one of their unique selling point....
the qing tang was not bad in my view. its not wow-ing but its pretty decent.. has a slight corn taste.
the satay sauce base started out looking really like a big portion of thick satay sauce.. we would admit we were initially really skeptical about it being used as a steamboat base but it turned out to be pretty good. quite unique and the taste was pretty good especially if u like satay sauce. But towards the end because for the refill they fill it up wif the normal soup base, the base kinda turns thin. Overall i'd say its worth a try.
as you may already know, i'm not a spicy food person but i went ahead to try the other 2 spicy soup bases.
the suan la soup smelled good but didnt taste good. it was very bland.
the ma la soup was good! ok, i havent tasted enough ma la soup to know what's superior quality but i really liked the taste of their ma la soup!
so all in all, we utilised mainly the qing tang and the ma la soup. The satay soup was until it turned too thin... the suan la soup was barely touched. haha
some of the items included in the buffet....
i am very pleased that they have luncheon meat! I honestly honestly feel dat thinnly sliced luncheon meat tastes fabulous when cooked in soup!
Meina tried cooking beef in the satay sauce and she said the mai xiang of the beef looks very good when cooked in the satay sauce....
our steamboats...
a few things about the place is the toilet.. there's only one and its the squatting kind. Was a bit inconvenient for diana especially since she's pregnant.
being new, the place is slightly shorthanded so the serving of the items can take a short while because they kinda serve from table to table... and it would appear they might overlook delivering some items with each other but i think that's very typical of any average steamboat buffet place.
all in all, it was really a pretty cool steamboat place with very reasonable pricing.
